Brimstones seem to be more reliable than 120s down low against any target.
9M are good but they are kinematically defeated by the Rafales and Su-27s and they can be flared pretty easily.

idk what they did to 9Ms. they accelerate so slowly now
They feel less effective now, could be a placebo
Aim-120s are affected by Multipathing (which can be mitigated with the right launch conditions
Brimstones are unaffected by multipathing, so best against something like a low flying/hovering heli
Aim-9Ms are unlikely to kinematically defeated by anything if fired right, but only have IRCCM in rear-aspect
Ive actually had pretty good experience with 9Ms against flankers and other stuff in GRB. They do tend to be hit or miss in a headon engagements, but majority of the time they are very very very good.
In dogfights they tend to kinda struggle a bit but honestly i got really nice experience and time with 9Ms, especially when people think multipathing is going to save them from the amraam and just fly in straight line making the 9M have easy time to smoke em.
As for brimstones, they are great when youre on the tail of someone that thinks flares will save them. Often mainly Su39s since they are used to the DIRCM confusing IR missiles.
Other than that i use brimstones to snipe planes that are rearming on the airfield, thinking they are safe. Most often Su34s after they killed half my team with Kh38MTs.

What? The 9Ms use seeker shut off IRCCM (which is strongest in the side-aspect) not FoV shrink IRCCM which is used by the R-73, Magic 2, and PL5E2.
My experience. In front aspect, 1 flare defeat.
in side aspect, 1 flare defeat happens 50/50.
Its only in rear or near-rear aspect that the IRCCM on it works fully.
I’ve had way too many side aspect shots defeated by the target just popping a few flares and continuing on as if nothing has happened. As if I had fired Aim-9L not an Aim-9M

Lol, yeah the 9Ms are pretty ass in front-aspect, but I’ve always had the most luck on side aspect shots. Then again, I am pretty conservative with my heatseeker missile shots in general.
Why is the catcher so fond of locking on missiles and not on the enemy？

Haha, gaijin went so far as to say in the wiki that the Typhoon has a powerful radar
CAPTOR is powerful enough, and I actually spent money and time to try the 15E, but I felt that the APG70 is far inferior to the CAPTOR.
Depends what you are using it for, but in terms of general capability the AN/APG-70 is still miles better than the Captor in target retention, scan modes, performance at range, TWS effectiveness and it actually retains it’s GMTI modes (unlike the CAPTOR) so in everything except a pure power-off and HMS tracking angles, the APG-70 is a better radar and one far more suited for War thunder currently, eventually I imagine this will be rectified as the CAPTOR is improved but gaijin has put out a very disappointing product here.

Well, we know the GMTI will come back to the Captor, when? No date, just an SOON
I hope it gets a massive overhaul next major patch and maybe some nerfed 4th gen IR missiles to say sorry, since the only thing the EFT lacks is off-boresight capability

Wont happen… because Gaijin forgot how to make nerfed missiles after the Magic 2 went to normal
yeah Brimstone against helis are quite effective I found. The only issue is that because there are no proximity, fighting heli with LWS is a bit pain when they could just move 1mm aside from Brimstone’s trajectory and it wouldt be detonate
I just researched the squadron JF-17 and guess what, the radar is much better, the targets does not desapear from tws, the 50x8 scan is is perfect speed and area wise, ghosts targets does not apear and the radar locates the targets faster (tested in test flight)
in WT logic, the radar of the cheapo low cost plane is better than the one installed in one of the most expensive fighters in the world xDD
