None of the 3 AESA Eurofighters represent any operational airframes. As none are currently fully operational with all 3 nations.

The UK/ITA ones AT LEAST make sense, the German one getting IRST due to “popular demand” is just stupid when it didn’t need it lol. Feels like a bone throw.

Most of the German community on the forum asked for it when the first round of Eurofighters came around. It was again up for consideration this time, but due to the feedback previously, it was decided to add it.
Its not impossible that it could be removed again of the AESA variant if thats what the majority wanted.

They are all T2+. No Tranche has been directly attached for that reason. If in the future information comes out that requires it to change to a spesific Tranche, it still can.
ECRS is compatible with Tranche 2+ onwards.

It is annoying that with the AESA-Phoons they didnt add CFTs, Litening V, Striker II, etc, Things that wouldnt affect balance but make the new EFTs a little more distinct

Operational is not the requirement, we have quite a lot already that is not across the game. As long as it is a modification / technical compatibility as per normal, it can be considered. As far as I’m aware, that’s the case for both items on the SM2 which are upgrades available for it.
Same with SPICE on the EFTs.

Germany and Spain has selected ECRS Mk 1 as their radar set. Britain and Italy the ECRS Mk 2.
These are the defining radars each nation has chosen.

I get that. But so far neither the UK nor Italy have “chosen” the AMK and no EFT operator has chosen the SPICEs for service. And Germany hasnt chose the PIRATE for their in service EFTs either.

But Germany has made a choice for its Radar set, as have Spain. ECRS Mk 1 is being developed by Hensoldt (Germany) and Indra (Spain) and is the key defining feature of Spanish and German Eurofighters.
PIRATE is open to all EFTs and is an option.
AMK is not in service with anyone yet and at a much earlier stage. Other nations have also not chosen an alterative or ruled it out.
Similarly with SPICE, no nation has taken it up yet.
