I even think it would be best to split stuff between two planes (a one-seater and a two-seater) instead of going for an all-in-one solution which gets nothing of these roles quite right. If you plan that from the beginning and use the “as much same-parts as possible” directive (interchangeability of most parts between the two planes), you can even lower the maintenance cost for two planes to not much more than for one plane. For example a light, cheap, single-engined one-seater fighter (A2A, air-superiority, interceptor, escort, etc.) and a heavier, two-engined two-seater attacker (A2G, SEAD/DEAD, EW, drone host, etc.).
Problem with that would be, that a third plane inbetween would be necessary to meet the condition of a carrier based/capable multirole aircraft (as mobility/moveability with a carrier is much more important than to fill all roles completely I would assume).
I dont think that whatever planes we get will share a lot of parts. The roles both countries want sound way too different. Well hopefully work together on the combat cloud stuff and maybe on the drones but the planes will probably be a Rafale 2.0 and a heavily delayed, outrageously expensive Germany+X 6th gen
If you don’t stop the cooperation fully, you could find compromises for parts which can be interchangeable. Like electrical/avionics components, actuators, landing gear, cockpit-parts, ejection seats, the engines used, and many more. There are many parts which can be made interchangeable between planes with totally different roles if done right.
Sure some parts could be interchangable but if the news are right and Germany really wants a big, heavy interceptor then i dont see a lof of potential commonality with a french plane that will 100% be a smaller, carrier capable multirole.
Non of the new AESA Eurofighters are modelled against any specific existing vehicles. It is false to claim IPA 7 is in game. The German AESA Typhoon isn’t modelled after any specific existing version.
You already asked this and I already answered you:
PIRATE has not been ruled out, already features on some German airframes and has been shown on proposals for future models and the EK.
ECRS however currently has been ruled out by virtue of ECRS Mk 1 being selected.
If it becomes something like PIRATE that has been shown / tested on German aiframes and there is a credible intention and proposal for it, then yes that is something that would be taken into consideration if it becomes a legitimate planned upgrade. Its not a given however.
Could someone inform me, I hope not to bother Smin too much, but he stated that the PIRATE was tested on German airframes. Are they German airframes or consortium airframes with German livery?
Cause when it comes to the topic of AMK kit, then the airframes are consortium airframes, but when it comes to PIRATE then it becomes German airframes?
IPA7
This is a sentence
I think there is another that is two seater
ECRS Mk 2 is not consortium.
ECRS Mk 2 integration currently completed by Leonardo UK and BAE Systems.
Hensoldt and Indra are integrating the ECRS Mk 1.
Germany and Spain have selected one radar path, Britain and Italy another.
The integration is completed in what airframes, the consortium airframes?
ECRS Mk 2 is being integrated on RAF and BAE systems British FGR.4s currently.
What about the IRST for Germany, what airframe tested it?
PIRATE is something tested and integrated by the whole consortium. Its open to all customers. Future German plans for T4 and EK have shown it too.
Are you referring to displays of Tranche 4 and EK using IPA aircraft as stand-ins when you say that they had shown the IRST?
Test airframes, future proposals, planned variants. All of this is factored in.
This was all made clear when the original Eurofighters came and requests from thr German community since then for PIRATE.
What exactly happens if the German Tranche 4 Eurofighter comes into service without PIRATE?
Would the quadriga be eligible for in-game addition if the current aesa-typhoon already exists and incorporated things from the tranche 4?
Would the quadriga come into the game without pirate if the irl counterpart comes without pirate?
Some of these questions come down to developer decisions, and are not something I can answer until they actually happen. Answers on future hypotheticals are useless for everyone.
However PIRATE is compatible with Tranche 2 onwards. If the Germans wanted to add them to current airframes, it can be done. Equally there is no reason to remove it from the AESA variant.
