I reported a bug where a T-64A’s 30F26 HE round (42.4mm fragmentation penetration) penetrated the Gal Batash’s ERA (370mm HEAT protection rating) at 16:13 in this replay. The ERA was bypassed entirely, resulting in full destruction despite full coverage. This contradicts the expected behavior: ERA with 370mm HEAT protection should mitigate or absorb 42.4mm HE fragmentation.
Moderator Response:
The thread was closed with a generic request for historical sources (OEM manuals, books, etc.). This is irrelevant. This is a game mechanics issue, not a historical accuracy debate. ERA’s in-game behavior should be consistent with its stated protection values, regardless of real-world manuals.
Furthermore,

A tank with composite armor survives a high-explosive bomb (which should generate far more fragmentation than a 30F26 HE round). Why does ERA fail against the T-64A’s HE round?

Spoiler
- Hit replay BLK file: 3OF26 HE rounds vs Gal Batash Simulation.blk (713 Bytes)
In controlled tests, 30F26 HE rounds fails to penetrate the Gal Batash’s ERA-covered roof when fired at the same angle/range. This proves the in-game hit was abnormal and likely a mechanics bug.
- ERA’s Role in War Thunder
- ERA of the Gal Batash tank is explicitly rated for HEAT protection (370mm). If it does not apply to HE fragmentation, this needs to be clarified in-game.
- If ERA should protect against HE fragmentation, then the Gal Batash’s ERA failing to mitigate 42.4mm penetration is a bug.
Questions for Gaijin:
- Does ERA’s HEAT protection rating apply to HE fragmentation, or is there a separate rating?
- If separate, where is this documented? Players need transparency.
- Why did the Gal Batash’s ERA fail to mitigate 42.4mm HE fragmentation in the replay, but the Magach 7C’s ERA absorbed a bomb?
- Is this a tank-specific bug, or a systemic composite armor flaw?
- Can a developer confirm whether this is intended behavior or a bug?
- If intended, explain the logic so players can adapt.
- If a bug, escalate for fixing.
Requests:
- Do not close this bug report again. I have submitted it through the official bug reporting system again.
- Take this seriously. I’m spending more time reporting bugs than playing the game only to have my efforts dismissed without proper review. This makes me question why I bother contributing to the game’s improvement.
- Consider the evidence. If ERA’s 370mm HEAT protection is not supposed to mitigate HE fragmentation, then clarify this in-game. If it is supposed to work, then this is a confirmed bug that needs fixing.
- Provide a clear response from someone who understands game mechanics, not a copy-paste about historical sources.
This is not a historical debate but a gameplay mechanics issue with reproducible evidence. Dismissing it with a template response about sources is unacceptable. I’ve provided in-game proof; now the community needs a technical explanation or fix.
