Just because people like you wouldn’t play them, doesn’t mean nobody would, and it’s not a bad thing that there are aircraft that aren’t often played, lol. That’s simply an artifact of statistics.
Do you want to want to play every single vehicle in this game equally as often as each other? Literally who would? No one.
Each player in this game has hundreds of possible vehicles, and there will always be some that are played less. That’s just how numbers and humans work bro. :) It’s not a problem if some vehicles are played less often, or by a different sort of player. It wouldn’t make that game mode any less fun to the many, many, many people who would enjoy it, and play, and give Gaijin more money.
With a curated vehicle selection, it could work. Putting an Alpha jet in the same match as any top tier aircraft would not work, because no one would play the worse aircraft.
Almost any tank can kill almost any other tank that’s a higher BR than it is. An M18 can easily kill any MBT if played right, but good luck damaging an F-14 in your Bf-109. Planes rarely stand a chance against planes that are 3.0 BR higher, while tanks often can.
So your position is that it’s a good idea if you don’t have the option to fly the Alpha Jet, but if you did have the option to fly it, then no one would (making it the exact same game as would be played if you didn’t have the option to fly it, that you just said would be good) and that would therefore make it bad?
My point is, is that anything outside the best would be considered DOA. A proposal like this would just be the best planes on one side vs the best on the other side. At that point, it would just be RB EC but slightly worse.
My dude, at this point you’re just arguing to “be right”. All your point is, functionally, is that EC RB with Historical Matchmaking would have air-superiority fighters, and you would want to play the air superiority fighter.
Yeah man, we know. That’s ok. That wouldn’t affect anyone who would enjoy historical matchmaking, with an EC mode to support it.
Sometimes I’m glad gaijin doesn’t actually read the forum, because they might read this and go “yes, MORE vehicles need to be basically unplayable!”.
I want to have a reason to bring out any vehicle in the game, instead of knowing that X other vehicle is better than it in every way and sits at the same BR, and thus there is literally no reason to play whatever plane or tank I was looking at.
My dude, there’s already a reason to bring out any vehicle in the game. :) The issue here is that you’re trying to be “the best”, and so you’re going to gravitate to “the best” vehicle for a given situation. That’s your own issue, man.
For me, Historical Matchmaking would give me a reason to want to bring out any vehicle. The reason would be to play that vehicle in it’s historical context. If you’re looking for a “have everything be the top meta in it’s bracket”-sort-of-reason to bring out every vehicle, in the long run you’re just gonna keep making endlessly more brackets. And like, if you want that… I wouldn’t tell you were wrong. I would just choose to play in the Historical mode. :)
Hot take, but 99% of players don’t like losing. Why would I play one of the worst vehicles when I can just… not?
Why would I fight things against which I have NO CHANCE whatsoever (not even a tough fight) when I have the option to not do so?
You don’t see hordes of people playing, say, the Ta 152 C or the J7W, all wanting to get absolutely shit on by a Yak3U, do you?
Which actually works, because in air sim you see a much greater variety of vehicles. Until you reach high tier where such brackets like 12.7 top means you’ll just face an endless horde of F-14Bs and F-16As, but top tier is just crap in general.
Ok, and I support your ability to have a lobbies that are really bracket-defined, if that’s what you wanna play. :) We should also have an option for lobbies that historically defined, because enough people enjoy that that they would be populated too, and those players have money they would spend on the game, if money could be spent on that kind of game mode.
Sure War Thunder SB is underrated as a flight sim. It’s also quick to get in and out so it is the best for people with busy lives, which is why it is so popular.
But you should have stopped the sentence there because:
This is utter BS. If simmers play RB or AB it is to play an action shooter, not a sim. They don’t play these modes as simmers but as casual gamers. The only reason for them.to play RB as a flight sim is as a challenge…
So no there is no sim-lite experience in those two modes. Arguably WT SB is the simlite experience. But AB and RB… Lol no.
Only if it where done in SB. Think of it, why would anyone interested in an authentic experience go: “facing the right historical opponents is more important than having any experience of flight in my flight sim”… Tgose people don’t exists, those guys go to SB and wouldn’t play it in AB or RB. And those people already had a historical roleplay campaign, mixed EC, historical events all the time in custom battles advertised on facebook and the forum. I partook in quite a lot of these games, having been a regular on the historical roleplaying games. The draw for sim fans is already there, where it belongs in SB.
Why don’t you simply play more sim? It seems to solve most of your problems.
EC? Check
Semi historical nation setups? Check (you can setup your room as you like).
And I’m saying that it would last maybe a month before its a dead mode and people only play the best 2 or 3 vehicles allowed.
Take this historical context to its limits - you’d have A6M5s (5.0) fighting F6F-5s (3.3); 109 F4s (4.0) fighting Yak-7Bs (2.7) and Yak-1Bs (3.0); and the late Ki-45s (2.7) against the F7F (6.3).
All these responses saying that sim fans who play RB because it’s accessible don’t exist are pretty comical. :)
Every air RB match I go into and type out that wish we had this sort of game mode always has at least one or two people agreeing with me, and that’s a sample size that’s not limited to the people in the lobby - it’s limited to the half-dozen-ish who read and respond to chat. Across all the matches going on, that’s a lot of players.
Wanting RB EC is an incredibly popular opinion, but wanting historical MM is much less common. I would love it if Gaijin just copied sim, but with RB controls and stuff.
