I think it’s fair to say that after almost a year, DX12 crashing is still a substantial issue that needs to be fixed.
I don’t have much to say other than that I’m pretty sure I’ve narrowed it down to have some relation to Raytracing and city maps with a lot of windows. I can run the game at max settings and max raytracing with zero issue, especially on maps that do not have any modern glass windows. Even American Desert with its one-story glass-windowed buildings runs without issue for me.
But on maps with the skyscrapers and multi-story buildings, I’ll be good for the first 30-60ish seconds, then instantly crash. Turning down the raytracing resolution (RTR) factor to half fixed things for a day or so, but the crashes came back.
This is also corroborated by the fact that on any of these modern maps, even during night battles, I have no issues as long as I have thermals (through my gunner sight) or NVGs (through the commander sight) enabled, I’ll have no issue but within a few seconds of disabling one or the other and looking at the many glass windows on one of these buildings, I’ll get either a fatal game crash or in some scenarios, a PC crash.
My drivers are updated, my GPU is seated properly, thermals never go above 65 degrees, and I submit the crash logs every time it asks.
Please fix this Gaijin, Raytracing has been introduced as a core part of the graphics pipeline for those that can utilize it and I personally think the game looks much better with RT enabled.
