This game is further ahead than all other competitors, and has ambitious [expensive] game mechanic ideas that aren’t even in other games.
Of course it has potential, no software has even gotten a fraction close to what is possible.
Game devs make mistakes, especially the larger the project.
All we can do is report those mistakes, and hope the workload allows them to at least think about them, and at least fix the ones that cause us tangible issues.
It is our responsibility to give feedback, it is Gaijin’s responsibility to maintain funding & make their dream software.
These explanations are not excuses, they are not defenses; they are purely explanations to aid in understanding.
There are real tangible issues, & needed features for the future, while posts make a fuss over a premium being copy-paste.
Yeah, there’s a good reason I’m still here playing this game. It has potential no other has.
Still I think there is a lot of potential they don’t use and things that can be improved. This is why I write suggestions, feedback and bug reports.
I don’t mind copy-paste being added. They can definitely boost lineups, especially in ground RB. In the case of premiums, I am always gutted when something unique is added and it’s blocked after a paywall. Some people don’t have infinite money to buy these unique vehicles . I like it when premiums are just slight variants of their tech tree counterparts , like the ADTW’s. This way, people who want boosted research and to skip some ranks can buy them, but nobody is really missing out. But now, sometimes unique vehicles are not added in the tree, like the A6E and, until recently, the L39 (thank you for adding it to the tree).
Maybe another idea is for exactly the same vehicles to be unlocked together when one is researched. For example , the F-16 ADF in Italy and the USA. When you research the F-16 ADF in Italy, you also unlock it in the US tech tree. However, you still have to buy it with SL. But if you haven’t unlocked that rank and the previous vehicle before it, you can’t buy it. This way, people can’t instantyly unlock top rank in other nations. But this does prevent the feeling of repetitive grinding and doing the same thing twice. I think this also helps with the negative view on copy-paste because you can boost lineups without doing double, triple, … work for achieving something you can already play.
To finish off, thank you for the additional communication; this always helps and is greatly appreciated.
In what world would Israel and Nazi Germany fight Britain side by side? This is a very common scenario in mid tier GRB…
Also, what units? We don’t have units in War Thunder. We don’t operate as squads, companies, etc. There is no command structure, no realistic objectives for armoured vehicles to achieve, etc. You are superimposing your own milsim wishes (which would be better fulfilled elsewhere) onto a game that pairs realistic-looking vehicles with much more classic and relatively arcadey shooter gameplay.
Imagine proposing to deploy a Maus and a Tutel in a joint Nazi-American operation to defend an Arctic research base from checks notes France and Italy. It’s nonsense all the way down, and it’s fine. I’m not a big fan of extensive copy paste, but the Abrams in China is no less outlandish than shipping a 188 ton tank to a wasteland of ice with no logistics to even remotely accommodate it. Come on now. Let’s be serious.
that the matchmaking, he don’t have Germany and Israel in the same TT
Doesn’t matter. His objection is “why would ROC and PRC vehicles fight side by side? It breaks immersion”. That objection is completely moot because even if ROC and PRC were separate tech trees, they would still end up fighting side by side about 50% of the time, and we already play with even more absurd matchups in GRB anyway, so what immersion is there to preserve?
That’s before you get to the point that our heterogenous teams don’t resemble actual combat units in any way, and we fight in places where it makes no sense for tanks to be deployed, outside the context of a videogame.
he means being in the same TT, what happens in battle doesn’t matter
Bro, these were his literal words:
yea and its obvious he means that they shouldn’t be in the same TT as in real life they would never be together, and the battalion in game is your line-up not the teammates, Taiwan should be with Mainland China but have equal rights not like now that Taiwan doesn’t even have their flag
It clearly matters to him, btw, he’s talking about immersion. Where do you get immersion, in the research screen, or while playing the game?
You’re looking at the finger rather than the moon.
He’s saying “these operators are enemies in real life and so they should be enemies in the game too, or it breaks immersion”. But there’s no such immersion! Countries that are or were enemies in real life fight side by side all the time in War Thunder, and they do so in completely unrealistic scenarios. So the immersion argument is completely pointless.
Do you even know what a battalion is? If your battalion is down to (a maximum of) 11 vehicles, brother, let me tell you, you are not fit for combat anymore lmao.
From a business perspective it makes zero sense for them to do that, irrespective of what our personal opinions may be about the politics of the situation.
tell me what nation that are enemies are together in a TT together?
you can carry up to 10 vehicles in game, and its an analogy
East Germany and West Germany. Like, hello?
Also have you forgotten that we already got confirmation that Korea will be a united tech tree? Unlike the China situation, there is zero ambiguity from an international perspective that these are recognised by everyone as two distinct sovereign countries, which I might add are technically still in a state of war with each other. And they’re going to share a tech tree!
That said,
This sentence I said is not just limited to tech trees. You can literally have USSR and USA together in a team at cold war BRs, or again, Nazi Germany and Israel, scenarios that are already unthinkable. It’s WT. You’re not supposed to take it so seriously, it is a shooter game. If you want realistic factional armoured conflict, go play WARNO.
EDIT:
You are, once again, misinformed. The max number of crews was always 11, but the 11th crew used to be hidden behind getting 10 friends to join the game through your referral link and get to Rank III. Now, however, you can just buy it, it was recently changed. I have 11 crews in my German TT.
30 years ago??? now they are united???
yes the key word is UNITED
something that does not happening with Taiwan
yes in a battle but they are not TOGETHER in TTs
So what? If you’re playing at the Cold War BR, they should not be fighting on the same side, at least if you care about that factional thing. There is no scenario in which the DDR T-72 would be fighting alongside West German Leopards. It is no less outlandish than the ROC Abrams fighting alongside PRC vehicles.
PRC and ROC are enemies that share a tree. South Korea and North Korea are enemies that will share a tree. BRD and DDR were enemies and they share a tree.
Yes, it is. PRC and ROC are in the same tree.
This is irrelevant if your argument is about breaking immersion. If you think PRC and ROC fighting side by side is completely unacceptable, as Tika seems to believe, then it’s unacceptable in any scenario. Whether because of TT or MM.
My response to that is that there is no immersion in WT, so using it as an excuse to split ROC and PRC into different trees is ridiculous.
Yes, they had it, at a time when they were decommissioning large quantities of equipment because a literal legal precondition for German reunification was that they would reduce their military readiness. But that is irrelevant to the argument Tika was making. If war broke out between PRC and ROC tomorrow and PRC captured an Abrams, I guarantee you he’d still complain about the Abrams in the Chinese tech tree because he thinks WT should represent the political antagonism between the two operators. Something which WT never does with any of its tech trees.
Tech trees are organising principles for research and lineup formation in this game, and nothing more.
Again there were still unified German t72s leopard 2a4s Marder 1s and bmp1s (and possibly bmp2 but their history in the bundeswehr is limited)
they did serve together in the same army pal
were did you see the sharing? If it was truly sharing the default flag of the TT should be something natural and Taiwan flag actually exist in the game and be able to put it in the TT
more like PRC TT and POC subtree its now and Taiwan doesn’t even have their own flag
no its not, we don’t have any other TT were two counties with completely different armament be together
from the start Taiwan post 1950 should have been as a subtree to USA but now this cant happen so at least give them their own flag in their own tanks and have the ability to put it into the TT
