Duplicate Vehicles: Why We Add Them

The amount of tiny boats that arnt need the UK has been given the last few updates are insane

Like those resources could have been going somewhere else like a R class to which a model is in the game and just needs slightly editing

This does not mention that there are six identical M44s in total. Look, if I wanted to play this particular vehicle, I’d just play US. It’s 4.0, it doesn’t take that much time to obtain.

  1. I understand the part of copy paste premium vehicles and I agree with that, a lot of players cant waste that kind of money in a video game(eventhough I think Gaijin would sale and earn more if they lowered the price of vehicles and premium time).
  2. One of the problems of duplicated tech tree vehicles, other than removing the unique feeling of major nations, is the grind. Please lower the research and SL costs of the vehicles, having to grind 20 2A4s at 260k RP each is tedious.
  3. More communication tends to be good(hopefully, this will be a two-way communication rather than a monologue.) but I think Gaijin should start to put the sources used for that vehicle in the devblogs.

Need a pretty good reason then to add german copy paste leopards and not add french made tanks when they exist. there are so many amx and leclerc proto and variants like the leclerc 140mm. like i dont see the logic here.

You already made it clear by adding the leclerc S1 and S2 (the only difference is an AC unit on the roof, so cosmetic) that its possible to add more variants with little difference of the same vehicule.

Also adding a top tier french BB at 8.3. the last french BB made and the best one at that, and its a pack ?! thats not a funny joke

It’s their game so in the end they are the ones deciding what is or isn’t a problem for what mode, no amount of coping is going to change that.

Especially since France could get an SPG like the Lorraine 155 MLE 1951

It’s one thing to say this, and then another to hear BVVD say on the russian dev stream that he thinks the AS90 is a pointless waste-of-time addition because the role in the tree is already filled by a combination of foreign and copy-paste vehicles (G6 & M109).

Once a gameplay gap has been filled by low-effort copy-paste (or subtree content in general), producing unique domestic content that fills the same role clearly and undeniably falls all the way down gaijins priority list. Otherwise it wouldn’t have been almost 10 years since a British WW2 armoured car was added to the British tree. Or there would be a single British light tank in the tech tree between the BRs of 3.0 and 7.7. Or a single British anti-air between the BRs of 4.0 and 8.3.

Edit to add -

This is all well and good for Israel and Japan, but why are these low effort copy-paste vehicles being shovelled into France and Britain? They both have a huge, huge amount of unique missing content/potential additions for both ground and air across essentially all BR ranges, including numerous entire missing vehicle families.

And yet France has gone 6 months without a single actual French ground or air vehicle being added, and every tank (and 50% of the recent update in total) Britain received in Heavy Cavalry was a foreign import.

Foreign vehicles, especially copy-paste, should be an absolute last resort for filling an otherwise unfillable capability gap in a tree, like the Indonesian AH-64E for Japan, but currently it seems to be the first port of call instead of taking the time to produce actual unique domestic options for certain trees.

Meh.

It would be a lot more well received if new additions to trees (cough, France) were added on a 2:1 ratio for domestic/C&P vehicles.

If holes in said tree(s) are a problem… maybe opting for domestic solutions before resorting to C&P or sub-tree vehicles would’ve helped? Idk, it’s hot and I can barely think

Interesting

The issue is not duplicate premiums in their original nation such as the recent Ajs or M60. The issue is that we get copy paste tanks as premiums in trees that they are used as filler vehicles such as the dutch leo 2 otco or the most recent F16 premium. Why not a different variant of the Leclerc prototypes or something like a mirage 2000 or F1 with micas?
Premiums that are very similar to tech tree vehicles are the way to do premiums as I hate the fact that some cool and unique tanks such as the Cv90105 are locked behind a paywall and would offer a great addition to the swedish 10.7 lineup. On paper the recent F14D is also fine but with that thing there are other elephants in the room.
For tech trees, I do understand that not every nation is producing their own tanks or version of tanks. But instead of throwing another Leo 1 or 2 somewhere, you should be focusing on either adding more sub variants of certain production tanks into that nation and only add certain sub trees if there is no other way that you could add more to a tree. For the BeNeLux tree there would have been enough options, to add instead you choose to go for a Leo 1 and follow them up with Leo 2s and copy paste some howitzers. Thats not the way to do it, especially since France itself still has so many options that have been on request since years now and would make good additions. This is also one of the reasons why I hope that we dont get anything in the direction of Greece into the israel tree.
Another option to add unique stuff into the game that dont fit any current nation or if there aren’t any needs in any tech tree it would fit in, would be to start doing it like other games where we would get something like a Balkans tree, pan america, … something which I am advocating for for quite some time with Sweden being renamed to Scandinavia as this would fit perfectly for the direction the tree is developing into

I find it rather distasteful that the SU-39 is a straight upgrade ( in terms of suspended armaments / utilities) over the SU-25T.

Is there a chance that either we see the SU-25TM as a folder vehicle under the SU-25T , or (less likely) swap out the existing SU-25T with the SU-25TM ?

I’d personally love to play around with the radar-pod / KH-25MPU but i don’t feel like dumping 60$ for something very close to the SU-25T.

So, when Leopard 2 for US and Soviet trees? They need a full and varied lineups too.

You miss some parts the M44 helps in getting a better line-up in Japan, Italy and other countries in 4.0, and I’m the end just skip it if you don’t like it

Well, I think that at least sometimes they duplicate vehicles simply because they don’t have a fixed route, nor a solution to the problem created. For example, the Magach 3 (ERA) was added to the American tech tree, and the Shot Kal Dalet to the British tech tree, and then after a while, they added the Israeli tech tree and instead of including those tanks as unlockable tech tree models, they made them premium again. This forces those who want to use certain tanks in their own country to spend money, and those who bought those tanks years ago because they thought the Israeli tech tree wouldn’t be added, and want to use them in their original country, have had to buy them again.
A brilliant monetary strategy.

Nonono you don’t get it. France needed them leopard 2s

Oh yeah, where’s the lend lease Churchills III/IV, Matilda II Mk IV etc in the Soviet tree. I guess we’ll have to throw a anime skin on it to even be a valid addition

I support this concept. As well as premium just being skip grind button if you want something from tech tree but without spending lots of time. Like buy su39 to get essentially su25t instantly. Or as early access solution, pay to get thing now or grind it for free in next patch. Maybe not for 60-70 us dollars tho.

I think the problem is that while duplicates fill some empty gaps and add stuff to lineup, they are necessary to grind if you wish to reach unique vehicle. You must go through centurions and t54/t62 to reach merkava.

2 things:
A) its a joke
B) even if we take it seriously, you cant just not play copy paste if you want to get unique vehicle. Israel and China - greatest examples.

Indeed they’re good to fill gaps where there are no other options. Germany and Great Britain are not part of these nations that needed a M55 or a M44 to fill gaps. Germany has plenty of options for self-propelled howitzers, so does Great Britain.

The developers are using Japan with Indonesia and Italy with Hungary as mask for the real problem; one thing is adding copy and paste for real purpose of adding to a nation like the Leopard 2A7HU, the other is adding as blank filter to not add unique alternatives for each nation that can get those.

Many as well were been unique vehicles by themselves; where’s the T58 close equivalent in the research tree that I can’t see? The only thing T58 is close to is M103 which is the chassis, other than that the gun, mechanism and everything else besides the chassis is completely unique. I’ve talked about a potential fix for this “issue” in this post where the M1 Abrams and M1 Abrams KVT are good example of perfectly implemented Premium vehicles with cosmetics only and the Premium vehicle benefits as well. T58 and 2S38 is a bad example of vehicle that create a power gap between Premium vehicles and researchable vehicles in the tech tree.

I thought people were interested in effective and interesting event vehicles instead. However we (the people) seems to be more interested in the slop you guys (developers) brought to us in the form of australian CRV Block 2 and dutch F-16A which by the way, France is now housing the most amount of 5 total F-16 in its tech tree, USA is right behind with 4 in total, the issue here is not the dutch F-16AM (the Premium) but the laziness to add interesting event vehicles. By far Object 292 and F-14B Tomcat IRIAF were the only actually effective and interesting event vehicles in this new cycle.

Quite literally, because Finland itself has a handful unique vehicle to offer to the ground forces of Sweden in the research tree, out of 44 the great majority are copy and pasted and the few uniques are Premium or Event vehicles.

Usually per update we have about 40 to 50 new vehicles counting Premium and researchable vehicles, was it so costly to implement the Hummel earlier? It seems to be costly since most of unique vehicles are reserved to be Premium vehicles, aren’t they? Exactly the answer is no but in practice seems to be the case. Hummel, Grille, GW Tiger, Heuschrecke, Wespe or Sturm 33B would be great options as researchable vehicles.

If you guys are so kind to ask for suggestions, my request are:

  • Add cosmetics variant of unique vehicles as Premium vehicles (M1 Abrams and M1 Abrams KVT example) or actually similar performing (2S38 and BRM-3K (BM-57)) as in the example post linked previously;
  • Add effective and unique vehicles as Event vehicles, 45 000 to 35 000 points for whatever on wheels with Spike launcher and 30 mm Bushmaster II Mk 44 are not fun;
  • If there are no options but copy and paste, specially for major nations either ask opinion of the players or don’t add anything until there are something unique for that nation (case with Germany M44 and Hummel).
  • Premium vehicles should be (not most of the time) effective copy and paste counterparts for effective researching the tech tree (M1 Abrams and M1 Abrams KVT and F-2A and F-2A ADTW as example).

Buy a premium and skip all the low tier, you can skip the copy paste if anyone wants
