The issue is that talk is cheap. You can say that domestic vehicles are planned, but when you look at a tech tree like France it’s clear that copy paste vehicles are now the majority of new air and ground content. Over the last two years, more than half of all additions to the French air and ground tech tree have been imported American, British, and German designs.
We’re now halfway through the year and 9/10 countries have gotten a domestically designed plane and/or ground vehicle, France has gotten neither.
Furthermore, the Leopard 1a5BE implementation doesn’t even reflect the actually ammo the Belgians manufactured for it, and could have sported the MEXAS turret which was a somewhat unique layout the Belgians tested
I’m looking forward to seeing more examples of this type of communication in future devblogs. Explaining the reasoning behind vehicle additions is a good step and should help reduce a lot of confusion and speculation. I also appreciate the acknowledgement that nation identity matters and that duplicate vehicles are intended to fill lineup gaps rather than replace unique domestic vehicles. While I still think preserving distinct national character should remain a priority and that copy-paste additions should be used carefully, the commitment to continue developing unique vehicles alongside lineup fillers is reassuring. More transparency about why specific vehicles are chosen and what unique vehicles are planned for the future can only be a positive change.
Ok but this doesn’t really address my complain on splitting up certain nation’s vehicles like the developer’s plans on Singaporean vehicles. Singapore has plenty of relations with Israel and the Hunter is basically a manifestation of one such example.
Furthermore, Singaporean vehicles do benefit Israeli line up when all the important vehicles are added, so it further makes no sense to split it up across other nations.
Nice. Lovely explanation of “C&P”(most times this claim is about clear variants) and why they have been added. Tho it’s sad it got to this point.
The explanations on why something is being added for the devblogs will be nice tho.
Premiums, being C&P, are nice as long as the operator has a home in the tree. There have been a number of poor premises, once you look past the family it’s from.
But at the same time, tech-tree C&P/Dupicates do have key gaps, like the UK’s Sherman V or British and French Chaffee, the Italian operated PzH2000 and a number of sub-tree vehicles, that either fills gaps, or has historic importance to its operator.
because they would have broken their promise of “premiums will never be better than tech tree aircraft”, even if they already broke the “we do not want player to buy their way to the top” the current promise is makin a last stand, but a very weak one at that.
British, France, American and Israeli Spaa gaps are way worse, at least if you had the chance you had the opportunity to get the 4.7 Puma ( I don’t care that is a TD) in this gaps you have nothing,
Feedback was about having the new premium be a mirage, and there were plenty, from max 4 mica with a bad flight mode, mirage 2k with no fox 3, to similar plane as m2k 5f since having max rank premium is NOT a problem at the opposite of the answer given (see ground and past premium air being max rank), there were 1-2 comments about people wanting it to at least be a belgian one.
But yeah congrats on listening to 1 guy out of the whole community disagreeing.
You listened to yourself that is all.
I don’t have any issue with vehicles specifically modified for a nation, like the M1A2T, the Leopard 1A5BE, etc.
I also don’t have an issue with duplicate vehicles that were extensively used for the main nation of a tree : I’m waiting for a French M24 and a French M47, for example.
But another F-16 to the French tree as the only plane for an update, that’s not good. Benelux vehicles are only a subtree for France and now France has more F-16s than its home nation (the US) and as many as Israel (who actually used them). Belgian M44s and M55s don’t have anything special, and there is no 4.0 French tanks (native or imported). So, they’re presence was not needed, in my opinion, unless there are more French 4.0s to come (which should have been added before, ideally).
However, because Italy already has 5.7 vehicles, a Hungarian T-34-85 would be nice, for example, or a 8.3 T-55…
Not as simple as it looks, indeed.
Tl;dr: duplicates should be added carefully and the player should have the feeling that unique vehicles are a priority.
I remember that snowman pfp, poor snowman Stona :(
