No, in terms of alliances and technology, Britain would have been the next best for a subtree, but as Britain is already quite filled, I personally think Gaijin chose France because of the available room and the benefit France could get from somewhat easier to introduce main service vehicles of the Benelux (what some call Germany 2.0, but that’s doing the Benelux a disservice, as a majority of their imported/leased equipment is/was US and UK vehicle variants, only the Leopards and Gepards were German adjacent variants).
The vehicles Gaijin chooses to add don’t indicate what Benelux has to offer.
Also WWII and 1930s… Germany is a horrendous choice.
Those are present for the Benelux, like a Leopard 1A5BE MEXAS with our own MECAR produced APFSDS rounds (as obviously Belgium has its own weapons factories, we didn’t use German ammo on most out leopards…).
Those Leopards are the ‘easy’ addition by Gaijin, but there are plenty of better fitting options too. Look at the whole picture (also Helis and Airplanes). Personally I only take one leopard and two Leclercs with me, it does give a different brawling and mobility playstyle over the Leclerc. Imo they complement each other.
Of course the best would be for BeNeLux to just be independent, but that ship seems to have sailed already.
Sorry I didn’t word “apart from being” correctly I meant Why was it added as premium besides being something that’s part of the revenue share program. And I guess there may have been more than a few Revenue share program vehicles added to the games main tech tree but I guess going forward why was the decision for this one to be added as a premium vehicle
I started hating unique premiums long ago. Italian tree has Celere Sahariano and M3A3 at the same BR. Guess which one became a premium, this is 5 years ago btw
For example the M44 for Germany, this vehicle filled a gameplay gap in the tree while we worked on developing and implementing the Hummel, which was just implemented in the Heavy Cavalry major update.
I think the problem is that this wasn’t exactly communicated to us back when the M44 was added.
So it’s down to the riddle form of communication you people do.
He quoted the part of the text where we explained exactly this vehicle. He simply eather did not read the whole text or try to mislead others, that there is no answer for this in the text original post.
IMO, they could easily add the Dutch Leopard 1V as a foldered vehicle alongside the 1A5BE. The 1V used the British L64A4 round, which, to my knowledge, is much more comparable to DM23/DM33. That would allow Gaijin to give the 1A5BE its historical ammunition and, if necessary, move it up in BR, while still retaining a Leopard at 9.3.
@Stona_WT
Hey! I just got a pop-up ingame inviting me to participate in a survey. Unfortunately, I accidentally pressed Escape because I was trying to leave a queue, so the survey link closed before I could open it. Is there any way to retrieve the survey link or have the invitation sent again? Thanks!
I wasn’t refering to what was written. I’m refering to older blogs where this was never mentioned to us at all.
We had no clue the Himmel was coming, we only knew the M44 was added to multiple nations, not that it was a “gameplay gap” solution aka stop gap solution.
You’re absolutely correct that Taiwanese people are going to be interested in their military being represented and it’s perfectly understandable, just like any other nation.
But considering the number of times I see Taiwanese vehicles with their roundels or markings covered with PLA markings, I don’t think I’m taking a big risk when I say that they don’t make up a very sizeable portion of the Chinese tech tree playerbase. And the remaining majority is very likely more interested in seeing the ZTZ99s and VT4s improved than getting an Abrams.
Going forward, our reasoning for a specific vehicle will be clearly explained in the new dev blog format for the vehicle. In this new format, we aim to write our decision process for a vehicle and why it is being added, as there is always a reason. This is something we didn’t really do in the past, so we hope it helps inform you more on our process.
No, Israel will get the Greek Leopard 2A6EX.
I think the Singaporean vehicles should return to their country of origin.
The Leopard 2SG should go back to the German tree.
The F-15SG should go back to the U.S. tree.
Concerned about the lack of development many vehicles get. Why add the Belgian Leopard without the ammo that would make it otherwise actually different for people researching it
Not talking about this vehicle in specific but in general.
Ammo (shells, missiles etc) is considered as a balance factor. We can add new shells (of course if physically possible) for tank instead of, for example, lowering its BR.
