No time to get in to firing position before being shot down. Enemy has the ability to intercept incoming missile already.
To be honest they should be spawning much higher up not further away, just a lot higher
When drones where originally released they broke the game as they spawned 5-3 km away. They must spawn out of firing range. While it devalues drones it is necessary to make them palatable in grb.
How would 2 ATGMs break the game, when helis have 16, and can essentially go up and down from their AirPad to shoot and reload the entire thing.
2 ATGMs from a platform that’s gonna take like the whole rest of the game to get back and reload is not game breaking. I’d have a hard time believing that, but I didn’t play then when it came out.
Most people drop their 2, and J out. Half the time I don’t even get a kill I just obliterate every mechanism top down In the breech area. I seriously doubt spawning it closer and higher is gonna change that simple 2 shot asset with a higher spawn cost than my jet for CAP or CAS. Or roughly the same cost.
SniperAlcatraz is right, combatdrones where annoying as frick & they should removed from the game so that they never can get a comeback !
Imagine instant salt cas. You kill a guy and 5 sec later, he is firing a hellfire at you.
They were broken because they were deployable in a BR range as low as 9.3-9.7 where basically nobody has access to SACLOS SPAA - Only IR SPAA that could do absolutely F-All while the drones got 2 kills per sortie with absolute impunity.
These days they exist in BR ranges where SPAA can counter them so long as they are noticed. I still despise Strike drone’s and the fact they were ever even implemented, but these days when in comes to CAS threats in a match there are more pressing threats.
This just further makes me feel that they should not have been added in the first place!
Every time I spawn in a drone I’m 10k ish from the battle. Plenty far to keep from getting shot at.
The bigger problem is most drone pilots just bore in on the battle and get smoked because they’re not watching for incoming missiles (and I usually get them with my smokeless HVM)

At 11.7 there are plenty of effective counters including even tanks themselves having APS.
Since you are unaware of the effective range of SPAAs let me educate you.
The Pantsir (Russia) can engage targets out to 18 KM
The Flakrakrad (Germany) and ITO-90m (France / Sweden) all sport the VT-1 which can engage targets out to 12KM
The Tor-M1 (China) can engage targets up to 12KM
The ADATS (US / UK) can engage targets out to 10KM
The OTOMATIC (Italy) can engage targets out to 6KM
The Type 81C (Japan) can engage targets out to 6KM
Oh sorry I didn’t realize you were only concerned with the (very broken) top tier.
Best of luck pushing a fix for just the 11+ BR, I’d love to see it get fixed but I’m dubious.

Yes if Gaijin is unwilling to buff them to a usable condition they should be removed from the game. They allow users to spawn them to waste spawn points rather than taking in a second tank or more effective CAS options.
You do realize you can play 11 without seeing the Pantasir, Tor, or ADATS right?

Since you are also unaware of the effective firing range of a drone’s ATGM let me further educate you, it’s 8KM.
Drones spawn at 10KM from the battlefield. That means they have to traverse 2KM flying at ~300km/h, this gives SPAA ample time to find and lock them.
If the SPAA player is skilled they’ll know these ranges and have fired the missile once the drone is around ~9KM as by the time it drifts in to the effective weapon range this will have given your missile plenty of time to beat their incoming hellfire which is rather slow in comparison to most SPAA SACLOS missiles.
Since you’re unaware, an 8 KM laser guided weapon gives you the same stand off as an 8 KM SACLOS SAM. Especially since the hellfire can LOAL….
Which is exactly as I said. Out of range (of almost all) of the systems, except at the admittedly broken top tier.
Moving them further back at spawn will not greatly increase the survivability of a high altitude slow speed UAV against the highest end IADS systems.
The Hellfire will not reach target past 8KM if fired before 8KM.
Yes the Hellfire has LOAL.
No this is not modeled ingame, gliding is but it’s very inaccurate, and it will self detonate at 8KM because Gaijin doesn’t enjoy modeling US equipment.
I will also reiterate that the Hellfire especially is very slow compared to the missiles the SACLOS SPAA are firing, you’re not going to beat that race unless the SPAA wasn’t engaging you in the first place.
