Dreams Come True — TOG II: The Old Gang’s Land Battleship

great, they moved tog 2 to 5.3 now

The Problem is they keep moving it up after relatively small changes, it would still be fine at 4.7 putting it at 5.3 same as the Panther is ridiculous. It’s a WW2 land ship it shouldn’t be able to die if anything looks it’s way, it should be able to take some hits and be somewhat hard to kill especially from the front. At 5.3 it gets destroyed by most things at the br even 4.7 tanks can pen it reliably

At the end of the day, of it turns out to be really bad, it will get the sturmorse treatment and drop in BR. That thing went from 6.3 to 5.7 iirc.

While id love for it to be lower, it does seem like the hull armor at the very least is usable at a BR of 5.3

Do wish it got its theoretical top speed tho, and not be hardcapped at 14 like in game (assuming the theoretical top speed is real, its an electric transmission, so ignoring torque loss at high RPM it should be fine)

If it’s the same gun as the one on the QF-Ram, then it’s going to eat Panthers frontally from pretty long distance. In one shot…
Talking from my own experince with the QF-Ram…

Take it out for a test drive, the Panther is nearly impregnable, unless you hit exactly in the sweet spot in its mantlet. The UFP is entirely off limits.

As I said, I don’t need a test drive as I have over 300 battles with the QF-Ram…

Can you maybe not wildly change the facts and the BR of vehicles WHILE the event is happening? I was grinding for a 4.7 vehicle, not a 5.3 vehicle. You basically tricked me into wasting a bunch of time for something I have no interest in now. I don’t appreciate being tricked. If it had later on moved up due to actual players being good at it, fine, that wouldn’t be in your control, understandable, but this all is.

Finalize the prize, THEN start the event…

You must be new here. WT is all about getting the product as quickly as possibly out, and cash in the money.
Even vehicle prizes from large seasonal events tend to be completely half finished the point people start getting them. And across a year or so getting balanced out, and possibly if lucky, fixed.

In before it goes up to 5.7 the day before the event ends

And I’m telling you you can’t kill panthers from the front without taking several shots. But it will be no problem flanking them with the TOG 2’s blistering mobility.

Ok I’ve just tested it some more and it’s better than it was earlier…

I notice that it’s receiving a 94mm cannon, and I want to just ask, what the historical precedent for this decision is? Also I’m wondering if the cannon will actually be a 28 pounder gun, or just a 17 pounder that we’re gonna just pretend is actually a 28 pounder, like in real life for some! But for real, this is ridiculous and silly and quite frankly, stupid, how they tout this game as being “historical” but they constantly throw out paper and in this case, simply nonexistent, vehicles for games sake of “giving the people what they want” when these same people would beg for a P.1000 Ratte. You can’t be historical and also cave to mass misinformation.

Don’t give Gaijin any ideas please… They’d probably give it the 17 pounder and move it up to 5.7.

When are we getting the sponson guns to work? I am seeing footage of youtubers test drive the vehicle and the 4 machine guns are static and not working. Will this be fixed just before the release tomorrow of the vehicle or will we need to wait a while?

Lmao, bro, it’s the same gun as the QF 3.7 Ram, it’s been in the game for years. It hasn’t changed since you last “tested” it and it will UFP a Panther from over 1000m.

so no discount on a day if you wish to buyout, it’s 999 golden eagles if you buy with no points earned or if you happen like me in part 5, I was unfortunately 750 points off completion, but it will still cost me 999 golden eagles.

With work being so full on in the last 2 days I tried to cram it all in this morning but am annoyed that with other games I play, any event it is a depreciating cost as to what I have to contribute to buying out. This kind of predatory behaviour is why I tend to not spend any money in this game.

Add non American/Chinese to the list

I just got the TOG 2 and I am not impressed: it is too high BR for its armour. I admit its gun is good, but that does not compensate for is lack of armour, it is far to big and slow with a tiny crew compartment so the fact that you have 8 crew members doesn’t matter, and as a result the tank will get 1 shot every first shot which hits it. It cannot be played as the super heavy tank that it is, and it is too big and slow to be played as anything else. It should be 5.0 BR at a maximum (in RB) so that a player with skill and angles properly can get away with bouncing at least a couple of shots before dying. It was originally going to be 4.7 BR which in my opinion would have been a good fit for it as it would have been a powerful adversary until it gets flanked, as flanking it would be something fairly easy to do. This would mean it is not an indestructible monster to anyone with a little skill, and so it could be played as what it is, but still require enough skill to be balanced when closing on the enemy lines. Also it feels a little unfinished as the G.W.P modification doesn’t give a whole lot of benefit, if anything the opposite as it introduces 3 more weak points to the already bad armour in the form of the MG sponsons and the howitzer gunner’s port. In return for this trade off you get the 4 MGs which don’t function (or even have an x ray for that matter) and a howitzer which only fires smoke, is considered a special weapon without its own sights meaning it can’t even be fired accurately as an independent weapon as well as introducing another 2 ammo racks to the front of the tank further decreasing its chance of surviving any hit. This seems especially poor when compared to the same howitzer mounted in the hull of the Churchill 1 which can be selected independently as a secondary weapon, has its own sights with which to be fired accurately and can load an optional amount of ammunition with the choice of smoke and HE shell types, which makes it a useful offensive weapon against lightly armoured targets, particularly those behind cover that you can shoot over due to the gun’s low velocity. As a result, I feel that even though the TOG’s 28pdr can fire HE of a greater calibre, to have the howitzer able to be accurately aimed and able to fire HE would be quite useful as it to could be used to lob shells over cover, and would mean most of the time HE could be fired at lightly armoured targets without the faff of having to clear the main cannon breach, reload a different ammo type, re-target with the new ammo’s ballistics, and then fire -if the target hasn’t killed you or moved on by then. As a result I am hoping Gaijin can at least do a little maintenance to the operation of the modification and slightly reduce the BR, which they should have done beforehand but as always it’s better late than never. Unfortunately this to me just seems another instance of rushing event vehicles like I heard they did with the LOSAT, though arguably not as severe.

Where did the info come from about the TOG II as I’m pretty certain that it was never going to be fitted with a 28 pdr gun as there was only a 17 pdr gun and turret in development for it and also all the amour thickness is wrong. Come on Gaijin you suppose to pride yourselves on using historical fact and measurements and this is certainly not correct as the only people who have these correct facts is the Tank Museum and in fact it was only ever going to have the main gun and never a 3 inch howitzer.

Guess they can’t ask the Tank Museum as WoT is a main supporter . All they have to do is ask nicely. Everything they have put about the TOG II is fake as there was never a 28 pdr gun in development. As for max speed it did achieved that was 8.5 mph and 15 mph was only on paper (theoretical )
