But this was not the intended final state of the Kranvagn. Unfinished prototypes aren’t added as built, but as intended. So for example the Yak-141 gets armament and IRST.
This isn’t like the Flakpanzer that was really just a stock Panther with a mockup turret (= no actual progress on a prototype), but a prototype project that was in part completed but not finished.
Though this is suggestion rules, when it comes to Gaijin rules get a lot less consistent. For example they seem to set stricter requirements than suggestions, then judge on a case-by-case basis to make exceptions for vehicles that are unfinished.
And sometimes their exceptions even go beyond that with full on paper or even some fictional (current F-16AJ) vehicles, though unlike unfinished prototypes they seem to intend removing/replacing these long term.
Funnily enough this is a fictional design. It lacks any historical basis and is even impossible from a practical standpoint.
They also stated that it’s mainly here as a legacy vehicle. If it was added today, the intended E-100 turret would’ve been used instead.
Now it’s somewhat stuck like this because Gaijin don’t want to change it for players that won it during tournaments, and also don’t want to make another correct one believing this would affect tge value of the old reward (I don’t like this thinking either, but it’s their reason).
At least I think they didn’t do this for the fictional German tanks, but maybe I just missed something. Maybe they think Japan is obscure enough they can get away with it, the F-16AJ publications by them still have blatant historical misinformation too.
to my knowledge the old reward is not available on the market so adding the correct version wouldn’t affect the value in anyway. i really hope they do that someday but i doubt it…

I feel like that, if they want to show that they truly care about realism, the E-100, the German trio, the Ho-Ris and the R2Y2 V2/V3 should be remodelled to be realistic (or at least as realistic as possible)
I would agree if the turret was finished and the gun wasn’t but that wasn’t the case. The yak 141 did at least have a actual flight and was only missing the weapons.
The Kranvagn lacks the turret and the gun and the ammo. That’s about 2/3 of the vehicle missing

Yeah right now there’s none available and who knows if anyone even still has the coupons. But even then I think history sits above market value stability.
This also annoys me with how they treat the KV-1B, which is on the market, but is also a Finnish vehicle locked to the German tree to “keep the value”.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought the Maus turret was used because the intended turret was never built. I believe they were actually intending to give it the designed turret (and there are some old official screenshots showing it as such), but they changed it to the Maus turret prior to release.
Based on the fact that the E-100 design turret was never built, I doubt the E-100 would be added at all in the current game.
Not an unfinished prototype. It’s an entirely paper aircraft that they thought had a fully complete prototype because they confused it with the (unrelated) YF-16 Sparrow testbed, then pivoted to calling said YF-16 and unfinished prototype.
Unfinished prototypes are valid suggestions as long as at least one vehicle-specific part for it was completed. Interestingly enough the only “special” rule for naval is that a laid-down ship (so no completed part, but started construction) counts as unfinished prototype already.
What Gaijin do with those suggestions is unknown anyways until they do it or say something about it. They are more lenient about naval generally, and tend to be both most strict and most inconsistent when it comes to aircraft, but I really think that mostly what counts is if they think it’d be good for marketing. If enough people want it, chance is high they add it.
Yep, at the time they believed that using a fully built turret was more realistic, but disregarded that this approach created an entirely fictional design that historically was never intended.
Now the approach to incomplete vehicle parts is different, where these are added as intended rather than substituted by others, which is an approach closer to paper (since part of it was arguably not built), but also closer to reality and further from direct fiction.
Edit: They still confirmed there was no plans for the real E-100 though, since the old one was a tournament reward and they don’t want a more available version.
