Oh youre right, they can research everything 1 rank up and everything below.
Why not? The lower premium tanks are not that expensive $5-$20 and can be purchased often for 30-50% off. Some of them are really neat tanks like the Independent, 2C Bis, SMK etc
If you are suffering then you should find another game. I have pretty much enjoyed every lineup across 5 different tech trees and while I own several premiums, I rarely play them.
Why would you NOT play WWI and WWII tanks before modern. Most players here have a general interest in either tanks or planes, their development, history etc. The opportunity to play T34s and Tigers are often what bring people here. Aside from that fact that the gameplay of top tier is complete and utter garbage most enjoyment across the broader playerbase is WWII. Gaijins design concept has been this way for over 10 years, not sure why you even question it.
Being good in say the Panther and Tiger translates to the leopard in understanding firstly the maps, map knowledge is key, how to actually kill tanks in this game, and how the overall game functions. Someone who played their way to the Panther knows what its like to be flanked, bombed, etc. and they learn this in essentially tutorial tanks of WWI which is VERY forgiving. While in top tier, there is no forgiveness, you will get sniped across maps, bombed from outerspace, players likely dont know what hunter/killer is or how to use commander sights and fire modes, likely have zero idea where ammo is stored, where crew are placed, where weakspots are, maybe not even how to use the range finder or thermals.
Because at top tier, if you W faster into a dumb position you die immediately. Because thermals. And LRF. And map knowledge you wouldn’t have.
And because most nations have no full premium lineup at high tier (russia 10.0 being the sole exception where you could do a T-72 Turms, 2S38, Su25, Ka50 lineup), you get to deal with highly unbalanced matches.
Because what happens is, little Johnny Wehraboo buys himself a Leo 123 because well, why not, but that’s the only vehicle he has at 10.3. So little Johnny races out into the field and gets summarily executed by something that saw him derp around, and then… little Johnny goes back to the garage because he has no other vehicles.
Now imagine 10 people on your team being little Johnnies. I’m not joking because 10.3 at the moment means that if you are facing an enemy team that’s mostly Germany, you know you will win the match. Vice versa, if you’re teamed as filler with Germany, you’ll lose. Because after 5 minutes it’s no longer 16v16 but 4v16.
Other nations have similar issues (the 10.0 packs for instance), but not as pronounced at the moment as the Leo 123 pandemic.
Edit: premiums have no research penalties so yes, yes, you are right. Also without premium account the grind is slow but that’s on purpose so you’ll buy premium ;)
No expirence in low tier stuff translate to nothing on top tier, early tanks are slow, with trash optics, inaccurate guns and low velocity so it is hard to snipe, most of the map is useless since no one will take 5min trip to find out what’s out there.
But it translate from top tier to low tier.
Why you guys think that top tier is for top players, who said that?
Also look how usefull map knowlage is with recent map changes, some became so small I feel like im playing WOT again.
In my opinion it is easier to learn this game at top tier since your vehicle allow you to lern more.
Top tier is full of bots and cheaters anyway, so I dont mind little Johnny in his Leo 2 123 since enemy team will be full of turms and other stuff.
No matter the tier he will start with he will be seal clubbed and that’s normal in every game.
The only thing that matters is if the new player wanna learn, if yes he will become good no matter the rank he choose to play, if no he will stay brainless bot and “destroy” any lobby he joins.
Still those types of players are in both teams
And not forget, that these players, with a single high tier premium will likely progress slower, than someone who uses TT only and starts at reserve tier. Because at reserver tier, you will get to have some kills at least, while if you just buy a top tier, you likely get a single kill every 20 matches.
This is BS.
If you start from low tier to top, you will have a continious, and smooth progression. Playstyle changes very little when you move up a BR. When you get from 5.0 to 6.0, your 0.5 knowledge will still mostly apply, and the news stuff that you need can be easily learned.
At reserve tier, it is much easier to play, than top tier. This is a fact.
I understand your frustration but you are saying that people aren’t allowed to buy prem verhicles and they will just swift over to Gajin market for verhicles and these aren’t cheap either.
Well compared to OP proposal, mine is clearly giving you an edge,… while still making you learn the game a bit before entering Rank 7/8 battles.
Not only the ones who buy premiums at low level with no line at its premium BR are the problem. There are also guys who join with bvm, t90m and leave the game after they die once. This effect is seen at 11.3 with US and USSR players. I can’t grind the US tech tree because I do 4-5 kills, i get overhelmed by the amount of enemy tanks and when i check the statistics 2/3 of my team is gone and they even didn’t kill anyone. I mean look at the win rates:
US has the worse win rate at top tier. The main thing I’ve observed is that if you have sweden in your team you win 100%. You can’t lose. Sometimes i get chinese players in my team and i win, but its very rare.
I wont even enter in the spall liner topic, no abrams has spall liner somehow. But i think gaijin is waiting for a leak regarding this and makes the experience of playing US horrible. At least the reload is good… but cant do shit agaist spall liners which eat all my potential damage. I always pray for the APFSDS to go for crew…
Funny ass update.
Let’s be honest, the only hard part of playing top tier is the players skills, vehicles are so much easy to use with hight speeds that let you get out of trouble, thermals that make seeing people a thousand times easier, gun stabilizers, if they kill the arty you still can shoot with commander…
In low tier you find less pro players, but you still find them so I think playing WW2 is so much difficult than playing top tier.
I recently bought the Challenguer 2 OES because It looks cool and I survive more time with one vehicle than most of my teammates with 3-4, and there is a lot of people with 3-4 vehicles that left game after loosing the first one even if they can spawn more, so wallet warriors are not the only problem.
At the end of the day this game is a business so free players can play thanks to people that pay to play.
I grinded most of my vehicles without premium and I know how hard It is but remember that lot of people as me now doesn’t have that time to play, can’t we play the vehicles we like because we have not enought time to grind in the game? Grinding money in real life is really hard too so I think that we have all the right to spend the money we grind in real life to not grind so much in a game too.
I would really prefer to use my time grinding vehicles in the game than working IRL, but unluckily that’s not possible.
Mad lad here
Just telling a version of the problem most people doesn’t think about. And a pretty umpopular side of free to play games.
Then why have a progression system at all. Why not just let people research whatever tank they want at any given time……
If we aren’t careful Gaijin will just turn into DCS and you have to buy every tank
Because in that way they won’t win any money, I would like It was like that but from the company point of view it won’t have any sense. Do you think Gaijin or any other company of the world would spend money and resources in a product that gives no benefits?
Remember this game is a product, to win money with It, Gaijin is not an ONG. And we are the customers, It has it’s downsides and upsides. Downsides as at least some people has to pay to keep game alive and other people has to live without some benefits (so they will want to pay for them) and upsides as we can make them do some changes because being customers gives us some power.
Lots of games are moving to the model mentioned and Gaijin has partially shifted to it. You really thing a premium tank is worth $70 when you can buy for example entire content like Baldurs Gate 3 for that…
Don’t be surprised when event tanks become purchasable after the fact.
You think $70 is a lot then you should wait for the next GTA 6 because Rockstar is thinking charging pay per hour and if Rockstar company idea is succesfull more companies would follow "pay per hour "and you would less complain about the prem verhicles in Gajin store.
They are getting so expensive yeah, but if you see the good side being expensive makes less players play with premiums at top tier.
Wouldn’t be a bad thing in some cases. Some games you can finish in 20 hours….
I remember complaining about completing Fable in under 12 hours. I just completed God of War in 25 hours.
Pay per Hour likely will never work but it’s long been debate about the value of a game based on game time.
In this game I spent like 100€ in those last 6 years, all in premium vehicles, Chally was the most expensive I bought, like 40-50€.
And I had lost the hours I enjoyed the game, so I’m not sad about that price, because most of that hours were free to play.
A nowadays AAA game cost about 60€ for 40-50 hours gameplay?
I won’t spend 70€ for a vehicle because I need money for other things but I understand some people do It.
And if you don’t want a lot of premium players you should be happy with hight prices.
Personally I would like so much cheaper vehicles so I can buy them.
We should be happy that the base game is free, not a pay game with a bunch of pay DLCs as lots of other games.
ODL happens for a lot of factors. I usually don’t do it, but when i get the exact same dogshit map in it’s worse version on the worse side 2 or more times in a row, i just leave after the first death, if i could not do much in the first death.
There is also skycancer, that can make people quit before using up all their resources.
