Discussion: Copy Paste Vehicles at Top Tier Am I the Only One Who Thinks This Is a Problem?

The mig-29 and su-30 are unique?

The F-2 really isnt a good fighter in game though? Its an extremely mediocre 13.7. Sure, if its missiles were better as they should be it’d make a decent 14.0. But still. Its slow and lacking in total armaments, just like in real life.

It does have very good turn fighting performance, but that is accurate. For some ungodly reason the japanese saw fit to make a plane capable of pulling 9Gs while carrying 4 anti-ship missiles. (Fun fact, structurally the plane is massively underperforming in warthunder, its less the plane’s irl operational limit, not even including the +50% gaijin adds on top).

I just noticed Malasya Su-30 has KH-38 lol, URSS gotta take a sip from their own medicine.

Technically yes, but that doesn’t mean they are good or needed additions.

Yeah, so this is the tech tree you chose, and maybe you should have looked more closely at the country you picked to play. In my opinion, you pick a country for the vehicles it actually designed or produced, not for the ones it gets from another country.

Giving them Taiwan is fine, but Malaysia seems unnecessary. Maybe here and there another plane could make it interesting, but the problem is that Japan ends up with almost every single top-tier vehicle — except for the F-14, technically the Harrier, and some European planes like the Rafale. My point isn’t that their tech tree shouldn’t be special, but Gaijin could also look at prototypes, because that’s at least a vehicle that’s unique to the country you picked and won’t just be handed out to other nations like candy.

Think about it — every other country is going to get the F-35 eventually. If we keep going this route, every country will just get their 4.5+ generation vehicles, their stealth planes, and mostly an F-35 as their only top-tier fighter. That’s why I don’t see the point of giving one country more than half of the top-tier planes in a tech tree.

It’s also about the grind. You play through a tech tree to unlock a top-tier vehicle, and then you see another country get the same vehicle, sometimes even multiple ones. Before Japan got them, you would have had to grind multiple tech trees to access the same planes.

With the MiG-29, it’s even worse. It’s like they’re saying, “we won’t give you a better MiG-29, but we’ll give Japan one.” That feels really unfair, especially because your country actually designed and produced the plane in real life.

The same goes for the F-15J. Technically, it’s a better version because it’s about 500 kilograms lighter. Since the systems that make the American F-15 heavier aren’t modeled in War Thunder, it only makes the American version heavier, which penalizes your plane even though the difference is mainly in the systems and not real performance.

The Mig-29N and Su-30MKM are currently only in one tech tree.
They are entirely new models, they have new cockpits.
They are equivalent in both monetary cost and differences to adding say the Sea Vixen.

what are you saying su30 mig29 f18d ???

Thats why I play US/Germany/Israel/UK

and in the future france and china.

Japan was never amazing by its airforce, F-15 and AH-64 from US? I better grind US then.
What it is amazing its the unique ground vehicles it has, the air force its just a plus for cas gameplay.

yea but many planes are under performing in war thunder so

I’m ok with copypaste. The main issue for me is repetitive grinding, imo there should be at least discounts for research requirements for each next identical vehicle.
Maybe if there were not just national TTs, but kinda combined (like EU or something), there could be much less copypaste, but it would still present especially at top tier.
Of cource I would like to see more ingenious designs, like recently added MB-326B/K and Freccia OWS-30 for example, although copypaste additions don’t hurt me much, especially since it’s better than getting nothing.

F-18D, Mig-29N, and Su-30MKM are in no other tech trees.
If I want to fly those aircraft I can only do so from the Malaysian sub-tree.

Those kind of vehicles should be RP lowered if you have them. For example: If you have the M55 in the US and you are researching in Germany, RP cost should be half or lowered. Even more if you have both and you researching it again in the Chinese tech tree. Aswell the modifications.
