No? Well apparently neither does Gaijin.
It works so infrequently and unreliably that most people bind a button, try it once and forget about it. I bound it to my zoom button so know its useless.
It doesn’t work in a test flight… and in a custom battle it doesn’t work either…
BUT
If you spawn a tank in a custom battle and THEN spawn a helicopter it WILL identify allied tanks!
Sadly it also identifies ENEMY tanks the same! :(
Occasionally, if you play Sim the button will do something, but it IDs enemies as allies and allies as enemies…
But hey, I’ve only been waiting 2 years for someone to notice… the fix might take another 5!

It’s a feature for GSB, on tanks you need to use the range finding bind to identify and it takes a time if the vehicle doesn’t have laser rangefinder or if the commander feels like begin dumb and delay the vehicle identification,
On helicopters I don’t know about it, as it has laser designator it automatically range find a target but seems to not work same way as tanks.
I think if this doesn’t exist I’d (if I played helicopters) struggling identifying vehicles in ground, specially export variations.
But… why doesn’t anyone play sim…
It doesn’t need a laser rangefinder, it works on reserve tanks. You just need to wait 4 seconds.
“Request location of allies”
I don’t use the request for ally positions so I’m wrong,
Event and mission multiplier I think, less chaotic, people use their brains to play, surely you’ll find team killing but it’s the consequences of the actions we make through our way in the life. 🙏🙏
Do you use the rangefinder?
For identifying no, well, except in specific cases, but normally I just check the leaderboard and sees if the vehicle I’m looking is a ally or not.
You have that option…
Helicopters can fire ATGMs from 10km away. Late in the game tanks can be all over the map and impossible to identify.
Do you like getting TK’d by helicopters when you know this exists and is broken?
