Vehicle History

Nearly a decade following its entry into service, the Belgian company John Cockerill developed a new modular turret system for the German-Dutch Boxer IFV under a private venture. Although supporting a wide range of armaments, the highlight of the upgrade was the possibility to equip the Boxer with a 105 mm cannon, turning it into a fully fledged fire support vehicle. The aim of the modification was to showcase the upgrade potential of the Boxer to potential customers. As of today, no orders have been placed by potential operators yet.

Meet the Boxer MGS!

The Boxer MGS is the main reward for the Mobile Sniper event that started today, joining the top rank of the German ground forces tree and expanding the Boxer series of fighting vehicles! This further development of the Boxer brings with it some unique upgrades and tradeoffs, which we’re eager to share with you in today’s devblog. So let’s get right into the details!

For those of you who took part in last winter’s marathon event, you may have got your hands on the nimble Vilkas IFV. Although it introduced the German tree to Spike missiles, the Bushmaster autocannon and offered unrivaled mobility, the Boxer MGS builds upon the Vilkas’ strengths and mixes things up considerably. For instance, the most striking difference can be observed in the different turret featured on the Boxer MGS. Unlike the Vilkas, this variant of the Boxer features a larger, manned turret housing a more powerful 105 mm cannon. Not only does the cannon enable the Boxer to engage even MBTs in long distance gun duels, but its autoloader also ensures that several shots can be put down range before being forced to move switch positions.

Unlike the Vilkas however, this variant of the Boxer doesn’t come equipped with ATGMs, thus somewhat decreasing the vehicle’s flexibility on the battlefield. As for the available ammo, the Boxer has access to several types of shells, including a HESH round for lighter vehicles and stinging DM63 APFSDS for MBTs.

What remains unchanged however, is the vehicle’s protection and, more importantly, its mobility! Just like the Vilkas, the Boxer MGS can reach a top speed of 103 km/h on paved roads, thanks to its powerful 720 HP engine. However, being outfitted with a much larger turret, gun and housing additional crew members means that the weight of the Boxer MGS also increased to 38 tons. As a result, the vehicle’s power-to-weight ratio has decreased, leading to slightly slower acceleration compared to the much lighter Vilkas. Being a wheeled gun platform also puts increased strain on the vehicle when faced with extreme terrain conditions such as deep snow or mud. Therefore, it’s best to stick to firm soil or even roads if you need to move locations quickly.

The menacing Boxer MGS can be earned during the Mobile Sniper event and will further expand the selection of heavily armed wheeled fighting vehicles for the German ground forces tree. Don’t miss your chance to get this unique IFV to strengthen your top tier vehicle setups! Happy hunting!

Why can I already buy all 9 stages?

Hey.

Due to a bug, all Marks of distinction in the Mobile Sniper event were available for purchase for some time for Golden Eagles regardless of the actual start date.

We’ve now fixed a bug that was causing this. If you managed to purchase the “Mark of distinction 2” or further ones before this bug was fixed, we’ll be revoking the rewards and giving spent Golden Eagles back to your account.

Colour me impressed if someone managed to find this bug, spend 9000 GE and redeem the Boxer in the span of 15 minutes

I wanted to do this but I only had 6.300 GEs sadly

I can still do it unless I restart the game
Mh maybe I’ll buy them real quick XD

changes changes
arcade points pass to x1
but vehicles
I-IV x0.9
is a change for worst in my opinion
before was I-III x0.8-0.9 and IV x1

Huh, there are a couple tiny spall liners:

Are yall going to actually fix HESH so I can start taking it to overpressure light tanks, or should I just stick to HEAT-FS still…

Same fake 5s reload as on swedish one?

With almost every top tier event vehicle, there’s always players pointing out that 45k is far too high of a requirement. Any particular reason why there’s no follow up from developers or at the very least an explanation to justify why they think that is an adequate point requirement? Or why the sim battle reward multiplier was nerfed so hard considering it’s the most difficult mode to use for progressing events?

rank IV was a multiplier of x0.9, not x1.0

It used to be crafting events. Everyone complained about that (warranted imo) and now this is what we get. So, instead of random drops which might not ever drop for you, you have to do “slightly” more grinding. It’s fine.

If you don’t have enough time to do the grind, just buy it from the marketplace afterwards. Either you have tons of free time on your hands, or you have a job and can afford to purchase it. There is a path for everyone, but more changes/making it easier is not needed, at all.

new turret this one has the newer and better autoloader

Considering it’s a common compliant with every top tier event vehicle, it’s not “fine”.

Can’t begin to tell you how terrible of a take this is. Not everyone has an income that can afford it. Bills, mortgages, children, all expensive. And almost no event vehicle is worth the overinflated price on the market.

Is there going to be any proof? Boxer got a 5s reload because CT-CV has a wrong 5s reload.

I doubt very much that the reload of Cockerill there have changed in any way since CT-CV. There’s a huge chance it’s the same 6 to 8 rounds/minute. Here is a video of a leopard with the same cockerill 3105 turret. There’s only part of the reload and it’s already longer than 5s.

CT-CV its the turret module found in the AMV patria the cockerill 30105 its a continuation to the module being the latest 105 turret module
