I don’t wanna lose SL every time i wanna play AirSim. I wanna be able to play AirSim without having to care about sitting in an airfield for 15 mins just to get my spawn cost back.
Technically you can avoid losing SL in sim: Paying premium.
While you won't make a profit, premium guarantees you cannot go into negatives.
I imagine that’s a big part of gaijin’s intention - heavily incentivize premium for sim much more than for ARB.
However!
I agree. At the very least, it should not use a logarithmic function that has a maximum around 92% for 1050 score (Community Bug Reporting System).
Useful actions should allow, without premium, to earn at least twice your plane’s spawn cost in a single cycle - whether it be through reducing spawn costs significantly or doubling UA reward (since rn, with the 92% cap - you’ll only make like 5k SL for your first UA cycle with the initial spawn fees at rank 4 and rank 5).
Another idea that could work is:
Silver Lions:
- If you survive the full 15 minutes and land - you earn SL as you currently do
- If you earn zero score and get shot down - you earn SL as you currently do.
- If you earn score, and if you had survived the 15 minutes and landed your current score would’ve exceeded your respawn cost: pay exactly the amount of SL it took you to spawn if you get shot down earlier. Meaning, ~600 score/life ensures you never lose SL BUT you don’t earn any either unless you actuall survive.
Research Points:
- Work as it currently does. It’s much lower than ARB for equivalent performance, BUT you don’t pay RP so it’s not that big of an issue.
AND
Underdog bonus
- If you are in a lobby where fighter/interceptor/strike planes are present with at least 2 BR steps above yours AND you were shot down by them…
- Premium: You receive twice your death compensation score (so rather than 135 points for dying, you get 270)
- Non-premium: You receive a scaling discount on your next spawn cost: 2BR step: 10%, 3 BR step: 20% (so a 8.0 plane shot down by a 8.7 gets 10% discount, 20% if by a 9.0 plane)
- If you are in a lobby where the difference in playercounts exceeds the join limit (IIRC this is like… 4 player advantage?)
- Premium: You receive twice your death compensation score (so rather than 135 points for dying, you get 270)
- Non-premium: You receive a 20% discount on your next spawn cost
This is meant to encourage people to fly off-meta planes rather than whatever is the flavour of the day without it being an exercise in losing SL against superior aircraft
AND to try and prevent an issue even I started noticing above rank IV/V (inclusive):
Game starts with even teams. One team starts falling behind so they start leaving. Game is now heavily lopsided.
Alternatively to the second variant of the underdog bonus, I could see maybe adding a significant enough rewards boost for being present until the end of the match or at least 1 hour, provided you kept earning score throughout to encourage trying to stick it out against bad odds.
I still have to pay some SL for new aircrafts and modules. Why tf do i have to play other games modes in order to play the one i want?
This is the only part i agree.
You should not be forced to play other game modes (which we dont like) to be able to play sim :D
It happened to me also sometime.
WE ONLY PLAY SIM! ;)
I’m in agreement with this at least, I’m just hypothesizing a potential cause for why it’s such a janky system.
