Dassault Rafale - Variants, Characteristics, Armament and Performance

Not in french service, they didnt even have an HMD on their Rafales until very recently with the F4.1 variants afaik.

When will you stop, just wondering.

Scorpion was tested on what was basically an F3R test bed for the F4. Visibly it’s enough for gaijin

I think it’s still relevant when discussing the Rafale; especially for sim players since having essentially 50% of the RB spotting system is a huge advantage.

The argument for adding the HMD to the Rafale was that it was tested at one point and that in order for a plane to be competitive at top tier that it would need HMD. .

However the F2A has been added to the game without HMD which suggests that HMD is not considered necessary to be competitive. At the same time I believe it was tested with an HMD at some point so the same rationale for adding HMD exists.

The other issue is that IFF function has not been added to the other HMDs that have the same ability. It’s been 6+ months since Rafale was added and no other fighter has had its HMD brought up to par with Rafale. In the same 6 months the Rafale has received nothing but performance improvements; some of them erroneously like the turn rate buff that was only recently reversed.

This disparity is actually a big deal in Air SB. The Rafale is so much better than everything else that it only takes 4 or so Rafale players spread out over the available lobbies to kill the entire game mode on a weekend.

this would also be super helpful in sim for other planes with datalink mfds, like flanker, im sure other planes get datalink mfds too. would be cool to see datalink modeled in game in general

The problem area comes when other aircraft were trialed with HMD but don’t have HMD like the F2A. It needs to be 1 rule for all and so far it’s not.

Afaik Japanese bug reporters aren’t lazy or missinformed/lacking infos on the planes they cherish so if they haven’t put reports up it must mean HMD never got trialed and if they put reports up its up to Gaijin to add it ASAP.

I’ve been following along for a bit on the F-2 thread, it hasn’t been credibly stated that the HMD was tested on the F-2A, nor do I recall a report on this.

Anyway, let’s bring it back to topic.

I don’t know what’s going on, I’d need to ask a jap main, but that’s not for this thread. So just needs to make sure there is standardisation when it comes to “trialed” features

Not sure how many times it has already been said (or certain people still spread misinformation on YT…); there is no evidence that HMDS has ever been tested on the F-2 - we know it was proposed at some point to be tested, but thats about it.

Other HMD systems in-game lacking IFF also has nothing to do with Rafale, I don’t see why certain people still have to blame smth this way.

Ngl i agree i dunno why people blame Rafale. In comparison the M2K thread was always relatively calm but since the Rafale is very good the thread about it is almost a constant battlefield. Poor Rafale, victim of it’s power :(

Just a small update on the researching side of things. The Rafale C F3 in-game has its weight based on a brochure that doesn’t seem to be specific and was “estimated” which naturally called for more investigation.

A primary source has been come across detailing the empty weight of the Rafale C F3 based on a very credible government document. It specifically states the variant of the aircraft (which we have in-game) as Rafale C F3 and the number comes down to the tens of kg giving a more detailed figure than the brochure used by the developers. It seems that based on the source which need some more clarification from other sources, the Rafale is a bit too heavy and should weigh a minimum of 200kg less. We should hopefully have more information on this soon.

I have one question why does mica wobble like it is having a panic attack plus confusion at the same time ?

all fox 3s do that no?

NETcode. It’s the servers and precisely server lag that makes missiles wobble. MICA and R73 suffers “more” from it due to being TVC but every missile wobbles to some extent

The issue that people have with the Rafale is the inconsistency and leniency it has been afforded it vs other aircraft. That is in addition to a concentrated campaign by its proponents to ensure it remains the strongest plane in the game for the foreseeable future.

For instance we know the German Typhoons are compatible with PIRATE IRST and that the Germans have at least one plane equipped with it. If we applied the same logic to the Eurofighter then the German one would receive PIRATE. But because they don’t use it operationally they don’t get it.

The argument that it needed HMD and the extra pylons to be competitive doesn’t hold water anymore due to the F2A being added to the game without HMD; even though it’s logical that F2A would be compatible with Scorpion HMD or with JHMCS.

Rafale is also the only plane in the game where it’s turn performance has been indexed to airshow HUD footage. And before we talk about other sources; the one of the sources attached to the report was thrown out and the other source was effectively ignored.

If the Air Merchi chart that was attached to the turn bug report was followed then the max SEP for Rafale would be around 30 percent less than it currently is and would bring it in line with F-16C and MiG-29.

Can gaijin do something to fix that I don’t see sarh missiles having this panic attack and why it’s more on TVC missiles are they also modelled wrong ?

Because no one would make everything in their powers to keep an aircraft good… If they don’t do it, they are the problem. And if Gaijin denies the reports it’s a Gaijin issue not a Rafale issue.

That is a problem linked to how Devs manage things not related to Rafale if it had been bug reported and got denied it’s a Gaijin issue.

Except that this matter has been discussed for way too long but if Rafale SEP is that stupid its because Devs tried to make the game match datapoints they were delivered in bug reports and that came from reliable primary sources for the Supercruise. If they didn’t do the same for Typhoon its once again a Gaijin issue. And most of all its a game systems/engine issue.

If Rafale is favored or other planes neglected its not our fault or the bug reporters fault in any way. And many people point fingers at the Rafale while the Rafale is absolutely not the issue.

Improve bitrate and stabilize the servers. Posess more local servers for each regions.

It’s also because of the server, iirc, someone made a claim that MICA was fixed, up until they found out that due to the dev server was so deserted, every Fox 3 perform much-much better than in live server.
