I think Aim-9M is often stated as “reduced smoke” Its just a nation specific term. As there are factors like alt and weather that can affect a missiles visibility. In game its basically on or off. I reckon it will have none for now.
What you see in that video could just be contrails from the speed. But its barely visible
Would be a major buff for strike aircraft at all BRs too. Just need contrail system overhauled as well.
*Have tested against rafale MAWS.
It can detect the launch, but once the motor is burnt out you’re basically cooked. With AMRAAM launches in until 20km there was no MAW warning (obviously RWR went off, but for the sake of testing…) apart for the last 2-3 frames of flight when the missile is close enough that the pilot probably had a better shot at detecting it.
I don’t think you need 4x the number of chaff. I think this is just a misunderstanding of how chaff works in practice based on datamine. Every missile in game can be readily defeated by vertical notching and periodic chaff use.
The only plane that ends up being problematic in a close range notching contest is the Rafale due to new HOBS capability and the MICA having a smaller notch gate + higher closure.
From personal experience. Defeating an SARH or ARH missile in the Tornado Gr4 with its large calibre chaff is trivial and in the Tornado F3 with mostly BOL its practically impossible half the time.
Size does matter. And if it doesnt as you claim, then there is no reason not to restore BOL chaff to its IRL performance.
In my personal experience, large calibre flares in provide a big advantage over small calibre flares, but large calibre chaff does not provide a big advantage over small calibre chaff, you can still chaff away missiles using around 1-4 chaff usually. But the advantage of small calibre cms is that you can spam them, more so important for small calibre flares as that makes locking on basically impossible for seeker shut off seeker heads, and until close range makes it hard for gate width missiles to lock (at which point gate width irccm missiles simply don’t care about small calibre cms, they don’t heat up fast enough to decoy), I forgot exactly when they added this mechanic but “rise time” really cooked bol flares for super close ranges
I’m not actually sure, is the radar supposed to be able to slave the camera of the eurofighter? Ik rafale has this feature, but for eurofighter it does not work
Both the PIRATE camera should cue to the IRST lock and the TPod/PIRATE camera should cue to the GMTI of the radar lock. (probably also A2A locks too) but nope. It doesnt. Its another one of those nerfs for the EFT
When you use up the initial amount of large countermeasures on the tornado you really feel it. Had r60 ignore my flares before, had to turn off re heat and loop just to get it off my ass.
after the last testing of EFT vs SLM with Morvran we came up with possible tactic to counter the SLM - treetop approach and then tossing sufficiently large enough bomb with use of CCRP when in range.
EFT should theoretically remain safe during the approach and expose itself only for a short time for SLM to counterattack.
