Daily login rewards need improving — 337 days for a 10% team booster

I have now reached day 337 of logging into War Thunder, and today’s reward from the medium trophy was a 10% Research Point booster for all allies. I have attached a screenshot so people can see exactly what I received.

I understand that the booster is not completely useless. It gives a small benefit to the team when it is activated, and daily logins also contribute progress towards the Battle Pass. However, after reaching 337 days, a 10% team booster does not feel like much of a reward.

I am not expecting Golden Eagles, premium time, a million Silver Lions or a premium vehicle every day. That would be unreasonable, especially when the only requirement for the normal reward is opening the game. My problem is that the regular rewards do not seem to become meaningfully better as the login counter increases.

From what I understand, having a longer login history does not improve the odds of receiving something valuable from the random trophy. There are special rewards at certain milestones, but a player with hundreds of login days can still receive the same small booster as someone near the beginning of their login counter.

That makes the number feel a little pointless. If the game is going to keep track of hundreds or even thousands of logins, I think the rewards should have a stronger connection to that number.

I know the developers already have a lot to work on. War Thunder has aircraft, tanks, helicopters and naval forces, alongside regular updates, events, new vehicles, economy changes and bug fixes. I understand that changing the daily-reward system may not be the highest priority.

However, I would still like the system to be reviewed and improved in the future. The game already has plenty of reward types, so it would not necessarily require everything to be replaced. The value of the rewards and the way they are selected could be improved instead.

For example, the system could:

  • Gradually increase the minimum value of rewards as the login counter rises.
  • Improve the chance of receiving a valuable reward after major milestones.
  • Allow players to choose between two or three rewards.
  • Guarantee a better reward every 30, 50 or 100 days.
  • Provide stronger or longer-lasting boosters at higher milestones.
  • Prevent large or huge trophies from awarding something that feels no better than a normal daily trophy.
  • Give players more permanent rewards for supporting the game over a long period.

A choice between rewards would be particularly helpful. Different players need different things. A newer player might prefer Silver Lions, while someone researching a vehicle might prefer a personal Research Point booster. Another player might find a team booster more useful. Even a small choice would make the reward more likely to be useful without making it excessively valuable.

I also think a unique vehicle could be an appropriate reward for reaching a major milestone, such as 200 or 300 days.

The vehicle would not need to be high-ranking or extremely powerful. I would actually prefer something interesting and collectible, such as an unusual historical vehicle, a special modification of an existing vehicle or a vehicle with a unique permanent camouflage. It should be fun to own without giving anyone an unfair advantage in battle.

It could also be non-tradeable and permanently linked to the player’s account. This would make it a genuine reward for that player rather than something people could collect only to sell on the Marketplace.

I realise that guaranteeing a vehicle could cause problems with people using bots, automated logins or extra accounts purely to farm rewards. Some people might open the game every day without actually playing it, while others could try to collect accounts containing the milestone vehicle.

To help prevent that, receiving the vehicle could require both the login milestone and a reasonable amount of genuine activity. For example, the player might need to reach 300 login days and complete a certain number of battles during that period.

Possible requirements could include:

  • A minimum number of properly completed battles.
  • A reasonable amount of actual battle time.
  • Activity spread across several weeks or months.
  • Both login progress and gameplay activity being required.
  • The vehicle being permanently linked to the account and made non-tradeable.
  • Accounts caught using bots, cheats or prohibited software being disqualified.

I would not want the gameplay requirement to be excessive. Players have work, health conditions, disabilities, families and other responsibilities. Not everyone can play for several hours every day. A modest amount of activity spread across the 200 or 300 days would be enough to show that the account belongs to a genuine player.

For example, the system could require a player to complete a small number of battles each month. This would be better than requiring hundreds of hours of gameplay or forcing people to play every single day. The aim should be to discourage automated accounts and reward farming, not to exclude casual players.

I know that no system will completely prevent abuse, but I do not think that should stop the idea from being considered. Sensible activity requirements, together with making the vehicle non-tradeable, would remove much of the incentive for people to farm it.

I am also aware that the game already offers rewards such as boosters, Silver Lions, universal backups and the possibility of vehicles. My suggestion is not based on those rewards being completely absent. The issue is that useful rewards are random, while a long login history does not appear to guarantee that the regular reward will improve.

I would like major milestones to feel more meaningful. Reaching 200 or 300 days could guarantee something memorable, while the normal rewards between those milestones could gradually improve. Rare random prizes could still remain in the system.

I am not demanding an overpowered vehicle or expensive prizes simply for opening the game. I just think that reaching hundreds of login days should feel different from reaching the first few weeks.

A 10% team booster is not worthless, but receiving it on day 337 does not feel like much recognition for a long login history. A better progression system, some choice over regular rewards and a unique vehicle at a major milestone would give players something worthwhile to work towards.

I would be interested to hear what other players think. How would you improve daily rewards while keeping them fair and preventing bots or reward farming?
