They aren’t denying that the CV90 has air tracking, it’s just that the method the CV90 uses for tracking isn’t implemented into the game as a mechanic.
Or as that should actually be written:
“They can’t be bothered modeling a critical selling point of CV90s so they are going to fob off any requests of it with ‘this feature is not implemented’”
It is an incredibly poor taste joke that other platforms had their systems modeled even in a half baked way, but we can’t even get them to cobble together even a half baked attempt for CV90s.
There are MANY other things just like this that isn’t in the gamer yet but the vehicles had IRL. The CV90 serries aren’t alone in this at all.
Sure, but there are few in the same category of vehicle. In fact, multiple systems in the same category have had their systems fudged to functionality, from what I’ve seen of them. So no, it is a poor joke. If we were asking for the same functionality on a tank such as Leclerc? I could understand the hesitance, but it is not an MBT.
In all seriousness, a BP/Event with the 40mm Ikv 91 would be interesting to say the least.
but magically it is on the lvkv90 which uses the exact same system…
of which they have “considered” removing.
Nope, the LVKV we have in game is the Technology Demonstrator version that has been proven to have a separate optical tracking module installed into the UTAAS.
Edit:
More information here:
And from the Swedish defence forces website:

So… lvkv 90B at 9.3?
I don’t think the B exists for LVKV, if i remember correctly they went from A directly to C standard for those (and only 3 were upgraded to C).
You are free to create a suggestion here on the forum for it though.
False, new SPAA screen for canon anti-air units use almost the same system : Look at the target but canons shoot on the lead pipe.
Because the radar provides the lead. Not because the laser-trig-calc mechanic exists in the game. Several vehicles that do not have any tracking at all other than the radar does the same in the new screen, it’s not the same as a laser-trig-calc would be.
So what system does stormer HVM use ingame to lock the target ?
My bad, I thought it was coupled with laser tracking.
Laser guidance is for the missile to ID the target, not for the system itself to track the aircraft. Essentially projects a laser matrix on the target, missile uses that for guidance, from memory. Platform tracking is IR. But the search mechanism for stormer is a bit wonky, could be argued to be representative of the system desired. A difficult argument, but could try to make it.
No problem, there are many different systems and it’s easy to get thing mixed up.
The biggest difference with the tracking CV90 has IRL is that it wouldn’t keep following if the target turned, it would keep “tracking” in the same direction the target was originally flying at the time of acquiring the track. So if a target is flying horisontal left to right, you track it with the laser and it turns upwards your track would keep going to the right as if the target never turned (unless you manually adjust and laser again on the new direction).
I have seen information about some of the newest models having a mode that automatically lasers several times a second to make it function like a “normal” track but information about it is VERY hard to find so i haven’t been able to verify if that is actually true and if it is true what vehicles got that upgrade.
Could one of the firing modes of the 3P ammunition be counted as a “SapHE” function? That would be a nice addition to the CV9040 series of tanks, like how the 2S38 has the APHE to take out anyone hiding behind a corner. Would we be able to get that implemented? Or would we be able to get a new round with purely SapHE?
Could we possibly have a modification you have to unlock to get the air tracking chip?
IRL the 3P does have a SAPHE mode. I was hoping they would implement more options when they added the option to switch between fuse settings for some shells, but they only added time/proxy or impact.
It shouldn’t be that hard for them to implement but i do not know if that is in their plans or if a suggestion needs to be made.
If they are going to add it it’s likely going to be added in the same way every other vehicle has it. It would be odd to have as a modification. I do not think the CV90’s are ever going to get IRST tracking due to it only existing on the prototype. I do hope they add the laser trigonometry tracking at some point though.
