Yeah, i’ve been advocating for more tags with better descriptions on the bug report website (they did add some recently though which is good, could still do with some more but that’s not up to me, i can only suggest things like the rest of the player base). Some like “Working as intended” , “deviating on purpose for balance” , “Can’t be implemented due to code limitations” or similar things might be good to have.
That and a way to search by vehicle to easier see if there already is info on the issue, sometimes the search function can be a bit wonky.
I think i’ve seen this guys video on the CV90 MK.IV before and he just released a new video on the MK.IIIC the Swedish military has bought :) Haven’t had time to watch it yet but thought i’d share it before i forget.
THERE!!! 29:10, the dude talks about the air tracking process, he says you change it to air tracking mode, look at the target, lase once and then the system does the rest, continuously lazing the target and tacking giving constant updates, that seems like air tracking to me.
Gaijin could give it the normal air tracking, they don’t need to model anything new like they keep making excuses about.
Edit: 30:15 He talks about the automatic searching with the commander sight.
Another edit: The “dude” I’m talking about is Tarkan Turkan, the Director of the CV90 platform, not just some rando off the streets
CV90 MK.IIIC though so doesn’t help for the MK.IV in game.
Also, all CV90 have the tracking capabilities IRL, this is already known, they just do it in a way that is not programmed into the game yet, they don’t have optical or IR tracking (The newer ones might have but we still have no proof of that).
Oh, to my knowledge they all used a different way, still using multiple lase to figure lead but needing the gunmer to do extra work, the way it’s described here is the gunner lases once (basically locks onto the target) and the system does the rest
That’s the same for all UTAAS sights that are in most (if not all) CV900’s. It’s a continuous automatic laser pulse, i think only the very earliest models of UTAAS has manual lase twice for the “tracking”, is basically just a software update to make it pulse and calculate on the fly instead.
There is a separate module for the Video or IR tracking that is a physical thing that needs to be installed though.
In the mean time they could give us the LK/95 proxy round instead of LK/90 that is currently in game and not in use by the Swedish armed forces, also abm with proxy for the 30 and 35 mm should make a difference if they cant model the sight correctly for object tracking. But i believe there are other things they consider when it comes to inertial tracking, alot of tanks use the same principle so if the CVs would get it people would argue that all tanks with the same system also should have it. So my solution would be to give us correct ABM shells for the different variants and commander gunner/sight for all of them since that one is also missing. The commander has the same view as the gunner and a joystick on the right hand side, commande can also fire the main gun as backup. All these functions could help put out some of the fire for the time being but as my reports on them have been denied we are likely stuck with what we have for now.
If i remember correctly the biggest difference is the fuse, the LK/90 is proximity radar fused with a secondary impact fuse at the tip as redundancy. The LK/95 however is fully programmable where you can chose exactly when it detonates in relation to the lasered distance. So you can chose a distance further than the lase to lase a wall and shoot through a window and have it detonate in the middle of a room, you can choose a distance shorter to aim at airborne targets to fill the air with pellets that they then fly into (like ahead ammo), you can choose impact for lightly armored vehicles, you can choose very close to the distance in order to take out as many sensors of a vehicle as possible, you can “stagger” the rounds so that they detonate 2m apart and then burst like 5 rounds to cover an entire area. There are many options :P
This is an old video where the CV9040B demonstrates different rounds, the LK/95 (3P) is shown at 4:28 and onward:
I’d propose adding the Bofors TRIDON, TRIDON MK.2, and Trinity in that case, so we have more Swedish 40mms that can actually track aircraft if they keep denying it.
They aren’t denying that the CV90 has air tracking, it’s just that the method the CV90 uses for tracking isn’t implemented into the game as a mechanic.
“They can’t be bothered modeling a critical selling point of CV90s so they are going to fob off any requests of it with ‘this feature is not implemented’”
It is an incredibly poor taste joke that other platforms had their systems modeled even in a half baked way, but we can’t even get them to cobble together even a half baked attempt for CV90s.
Sure, but there are few in the same category of vehicle. In fact, multiple systems in the same category have had their systems fudged to functionality, from what I’ve seen of them. So no, it is a poor joke. If we were asking for the same functionality on a tank such as Leclerc? I could understand the hesitance, but it is not an MBT.
