SUGGESTION DRAFT
Hello everyone,
I would like to kindly suggest adding the Republic of China (ROC) national flag as an optional emblem in the new custom flag feature. The ROC flag, featuring the blue sky, white sun, and wholly red earth, was officially adopted in 1928 after the Northern Expedition and served as the national flag of China from 1928 to 1949. It has continued to represent the Republic of China since the government relocated to Taiwan in 1949 following the Chinese Civil War. Several vehicles in the Chinese tech tree, such as the CM11 Brave Tiger and M60A3 TTS, were operated by ROC forces during and after that era. Including this historically significant flag would provide players with more accurate customization options for these vehicles in the new custom flag system, without any impact on gameplay balance or nation placement.
What do you think? Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
The mods say when suggesting the flag just add it history, it very simple that all… so what else do I have to add, I checked other flag suggestions and it very short. Is there anymore I need to add or change?
I would say you also include military history pre-civil war.
For example the chinese TT more than half of Rank I - III has captured vehicles and donated vehicles used by ROC when they still ruled mainland China. In case they do not recognize modern ROC as a nation.
Although I support it, this suggestion is unlikely to pass. Gaijin Entertainment needs access to the Chinese market, and acknowledging that the Republic of China still exists today would cross a red line for them.
From that perspective, anything after 1949 is often considered either an illegitimate regime or part of pro independence movements, and officially the Republic of China is treated as having ceased to exist.
In other words, if they were to include it, it would likely be handled like this: vehicles from before 1949 would use the Republic of China flag, while vehicles after 1949 would use a generic ROC Army flag instead.
This isn’t really the topic of discussion tho. The discussion is whether they could add the ROC flag to the custom flags menu, not to the vehicles themselves. They can continue doing whatever they want with the operator flags, without implying the ROC exists beyond 1949, since there are other defunct flags in the custom flags functionality and there are vehicles from before 1949 with ROC army operator flags, so it would make sense to add the country’s flag to the custom flags menu, as with other countries.
Still pending, probaly will need to wait some time. My first suggestion took about 5 month. I submitted this suggestion in early May, so I assume we will probaly get it on October.
Well, you know Gaijin doesn’t have their own server right? They rent the server from another company… and when they crash, we should not blame gaijin… However, those servers were 90% manufactured by Taiwan… so does this count as another reason to add the flag to the game?
With the addition of the most modern plane of the Republic of China Air Force is time to get the actual flag for all vehicles that were operated by Taiwan, after the correct choice of Gaijin to replace the war flag of Japan as the flag of the TT and all the ww2 tanks with the correct flag, so now is the time to put the actual flag of Taiwan/ROC
instead of the flag of the Republic of China Army that we have no for no reason, so give all Taiwanese vehicles their actual flag and have it be able to change it as you can change every other TT, if not i would like an actual explanation why Taiwanese tanks and planes go to a TT without even their own flag
when i mean Taiwan i mean ROC its just easier to say Taiwan than Republic of China the same with the North and South Korea instead of saying the full names. And if its too risky for gaijin they shouldn’t have added stuff in the first place
currently RoC is an Island country i don’t thing they control the mainland. but yes if you want i can just call them ROC i am just used to call them Taiwan
yea because they were toxic, what does this have to do with a national flag? both flag of Ukraine and Russia is available
that’s the point, before 1949/1971 ROC is a country, but now is not, at least from the view of the UN and mainstream. and for ROC era, Taiwan is merely an island province; the same applies to PRC era till now.
this flag have too much meaning, ROC 1912-1949 or ROC 1912- now, or even some meaning of indpndnc
This is just an analogy; some players are causing problem through chatting and DIY decals then Gaijin made modifications to reduce the problem. It does not mean Gaijin shouldn’t have added stuff in the first.
still RoC is not a province its de facto independent, no matter if its recognized or not they have their independence and their own flag and military and as long as their on the game they should be treated as any other country,
everyone can be offended by a flag that’s not a reason not to be added
Honestly who cares what opinion players express? The flag is real no matter what and should be in game. It was the ROC flag and, no matter if you view then as a country or not, modern day ROC/Taiwan still uses it.
What players use it for is up to interpretation, so it’s meaningless. If I see a flag used by someone I can’t know what they think, every implication is made in my head so it’s only my own fault to get offended by it. After all, I can’t know for sure why they use it.
