Custom flags functionality

The thing is there not as good as the US models but those models aren’t yet in game, or they are missing half there features.

It is the same Oplot-M they trialed, but probably only by coincidence because Gaijin just used the Oplot-T model and Pakistan just so happened to trial the tank that tested the Oplot-Ts new A/C and APU.

Oh mb, at least there’s that

It’s so funny to me that in the interests of not offending either Chinese government, Gaijin has somehow created an alternate reality where the PRC and ROC are the same historical entity. Instead of just listening to what people want and adding a custom flag labelled ROC or China (1912–1949)

Also I found an example where the same political entity is given multiple flags (both Canada’s modern and previous flag are selectable) so apparently what Gaijin chooses to include as flags is just. Entirely arbitrary.

Arbitrary = random

not the case, its obviusly a deliberate choise to fit their benefits, in this case go in line with the CCP politics.

A. Arbitrary does not mean random, it means without established rules or procedures. So yes, this is arbitrary.
B. Labelling it the way that I and many others have suggested is actually more in-line with the CCP’s policies on the ROC.

the rule was no army flags, yet they gave taiwan army flag, and when you try to bug report it, they say not a bug cause they do not recognize the national flag.

So, this would be an example of an arbitrary decision being made given that it works differently with other tech trees. I hope that helps you in your quest to learn what this word means

So this, though you were refering to a random decision.

Yes there is clearly no system here as several other operator flags are given their state flags [e.g. Japan] and [a censored version of] Nazi Germany’s army flag is the symbol for the tech tree.

“Non-state flags can’t be selected”

Yeah right…

Yes. This closed bug report is clearly either just a cop out or a bug triager not understanding the issue.

It’s even more arbitrary than that. When I wanted to look up when it was used yesterday I found out there’s two versions of this flag. There’s the initial design introduced in 1935, but in 1938 this was revised which is the flag used until the end of WWII.

The War Thunder version is for some reason based on the first version, which was only used for two years, and wasn’t used during WWII. It can’t even be said that it represents the beginning of War Thunders Germany either, considering the first aircraft available went into service in 1934, which was before this flag was used.

It’s just a very arbitrary choice that I can’t see any reason behind.

If they wanted maximum consistency:

  • make the modern German flag the default flag for the German TT (arguably also USSR → Russia. Every other TT uses its most modern flag as the default one)
  • add ROC flag to China TT
  • rename “Kingdom of Italy” flag to just “Italy” (or rename literally all historical variants to their official names lol)

Like I said earlier, this whole feature seems utterly rushed and is full of inconsistencies.

There’s a few more that would need them to do more variants (like Canada).

  • USA that has a 50-star flag since 1959 (in game is only 48-star version)
  • Japan has updated their flag in 1999, the main change relevant to the game is a different shade of red
  • France that has a darker shade of blue (the in-game variant was only used between 1976 and 2020)

Oh, then nevermind for that one.

Then you would need to make Italy’s default the KOI one and China’s the ROC flag if you wanted to be consistent (use the flags at the start of WWII) and you can use the black-white-red flag from the first half of Nazi germany then too, which conveniently avoids having to use a censored version of the flag where literally the only thing on it is the thing you have to censor.

Altho they’ve made it pretty clear they don’t want to represent the China TT with ROC imagery.

Please stay on topic. This is not about Hellfires and JAGMs. Thanks
