As far as I’m (and I think the great majority of players are) concerned, this topic will remain relevant so long as there is zero communication from the side of Gaijin. So I do expect that this thread will get a move request soon.

There’s only a vocal minority of people making a fuss about it, mostly the hardcore Chinese nationalists. But it ultimately boils down to Gaijin not wanting to get in any legal trouble with China for displaying China as Taiwanese in the game. They can’t afford to lose their biggest Asian costumer base after all.

This isn’t what me and others are asking for anyhow. I’ve always been very specific that this is about the national flag of The Republic of China, the government of mainland China 1928-1949. As you can see, “Republic China” is the official display name for this operator and the ROC army flag is also right there.
The Republic of China national flag is available as a decal under “world flags”
Since Gaijin has ruled that military flags are unsuitable to represent a nation or tech tree then the operator flag should change from ROC army to ROC national flag. This is the only right and unbiased choice, as it’s no different from other nations like Germany and Italy who have access to their historical flags and who are able to use them in the new customization feature.
The ROC national flag should be used on the respective operator’s vehicles and optionally as the main flag of the Chinese tech tree. The Republic of China and their flag was part of WW2, Gaijin should under no circumstances censor or remove this part of history from the game.
Also: On the dev server the operator is simply called “China”

Well wouldn’t you know, removing one trouble maker in here and not a single argument for a couple of days. Just shows you how powerful a vocal minority can be sometime. I feel for the majority in here who has suffered greatly during this exchange of views and opinions, I hope gaijin have the guts to change the Chinese flags to their proper and historic status rather than hiding behind these vocal minorities groups who live in their own little worlds who they think there views and only there views matters

I know that Gaijin doesn’t care if I stop playing or stop spending money, a drop in the ocean.
I ask you the same question however, what does it matter if China is called The Republic of China? After all, it is all the same.
I just want to appreciate the historical and modern flag and name of The Republic of China.
Considering it is all the same and, more importantly, it is client side, there should be no issues from anyone if I use the ROC flag, yeah? Just like I have no issues with others using the People’s Republic of China flag and name (or any of the others such as Vietnam)

I mean, Noth Korea is already on the dev server so I imagine it would have both.
I haven’t heard people complain about North Korea being an option so I doubt Gaijin would remove it at such a time, and they shouldn’t.
They just like ostrich who don’t want to see the facts and forcing others also becomes ostrich. It won’t be any problems if Gaijin just label it as “China”, because they didn’t say is it PRC or ROC but just some ostrich can’t accept this.

I mean, labeling it as China while providing the flag of the ROC would be how it was at the start of the dev server (kinda, it was the military flag and not national, but still) and would be meeting us half-way at least.
However I would still love if we could also change the name.
When gaijin add that feature,it is impossible to avoid politics argue or avoid the influence of politics,there are many many many people tries to show their politic by the flag.
So the best way is don’t add that feature maybe
Even assuming you are right, the only people they would show their politics to are themselves, as it is a client side feature.
