No flag… what’s next, no decal for our future M1A2T Abrams?

No, I mean. Why was Japan the only nation to have its naval ensign removed from the stat cards while the ones I listed still have them? If German dreadnoughts can have the flag of the Kaiserliche Marine on their statcard, why can’t the Japanese battleships have the rising sun?
Seems as if they were more interested in how some people might feel about that flag than historical accuracy.
To reiterate my views that have never changed on this topic:
1- The ROC national flag should be in War Thunder.
2- If the ROC national flag is missing from War Thunder, that is incorrect.
3- This is a criticism of Gaijin’s negligence with adding flags to War Thunder, and not choosing correct ones.
4- The old flag used in War Thunder was the ROC national flag, and should’ve stayed instead of being replaced by the army flag.
Yet I have been falsely accused of evil things after making this overt support of the ROC national flag.
Here’s my first post where I state the primary position:
In the immortal words of the OP that represents my views:
I think war thunder should remove the custom flag functionality and make all flags customizable through war thunder live. So anyone can use any flag they want, even ones that are not in game.
The customization is user-side anyways so this would not change anything other than making everyone happy, those who don’t want the ROC flag will not have it in the game and those who want it can even replace the PRC flag with it.
Actually this is the best suggestion so far.
I like this idea. Go a step farther and let me change the flags on the stat cards too.
Yes that is also a good suggestion
I believe there was some option that allowed you to go in game with your operator nation flag changed?
I don’t remember this, I have earlier tried to see if there is a way to add custom flags to stat cards and tech trees but could not find anything.
Sorry I meant your nation tech tree symbol changed, I was wrong about it
It feels like we were told to use this topic so people wouldnt see uncomfortable questions left unanswered on rumor roundup / dev server changelog.
most likely tho it does leak over to there and I have seen a few CCs mention this issue, so at least some visability
No, this is clearly a political move by gaijin, its absolutely unaxceptable for chinese people/government, to have an option of replacing chinese flag for taiwanese. That is the only problme we are facing with this. Just the possibility would mean ban od the game in china for political reasons, even though by logick of many people claiming taiwan doeant exiat the china doesn’t exist as well since they are both sides of civil war that didn’t end by complete defeat of one side. Matter of fact taiwan owned 86% of all chinese land at one point untill soviets heped PROC. This is not political statement just history overhaul
Well of cours its about how people feel they are corporation, they dont give a shit a out anything that doesnt generate money
Yes, I see what is demanded, but I don’t fully see how this would be an issue.
Please feel free to correct me if I’m wrong here, but the issue is the flag of China (modern People’s Republic of China) being replaced by that of Taiwan (modern Republic of China), because Taiwan is not recognized as a country by China (only 11 nations do iirc), and instead is viewed as a civil war faction that currently does not hold power over the nation.
But the Republic of China is still recognized as a historical nation (up to 1949 for China, 1971 for the UN), using the same flag.
So with that in mind, having both flags carries no political meaning from Gaijins end, as it can be interpreted either way.
- From China (PRC) perspective it is simply a historical flag representing the Republic of China which used to be the Chinese government before the civil war.
 - From Taiwan (ROC) perspective their national flag is included as an option.

So long as Gaijin don’t say which of these paths they themselves represent, any political meaning is only input by players and limited to clientside customization that doesn’t affect other players. Writing politically charged messages is still banned, so it still can’t go past that.
So I doubt that something as neutral as providing an option that can be interpreted as perfectly acceptable for either political side could lead to a ban in China.

It would be nice for gaijin to address this issue or at least apologise or explain their reasoning. Currently they seem to be just ignoring it. We may be pleasantly surprised next week but we’ll have to see. Only way to make sure something happens though is to keep the pressure up.

Why? They aren’t doing anything wrong
