Thinking gaijin did it as a mistake is cope.
First off, this is false. The Nazi flag is not in the game, and neither are symbols such as the swastika. Gaijin uses a modified version of the flag to avoid using such hateful symbolism.
Secondly, “making it make sense” doesn’t mean adding MORE fascist or imperialist flags. It means removing them. For example, the Rising Sun flag, which for some reason was used for the Japanese tech tree flag, was replaced with the Japanese national flag (Hinomaru).
This is an example of positive progress, and we are continuing on this path today. Your logic is “such and such is bad, therefore it justifies making it worse” is contradictory unless your goal in the first place is to make things worse. Let’s make things better, not worse!
Exactly.
RazerVon: “The ROC flag hasn’t been added yet… For ROC flag to be removed it had to have been added.”
Rebel: “It was removed a long time ago when they were adding the Chinese tech tree” (with photo proof)
Razer, flailing desperately: “Something being removed… means someone can say it hasn’t been removed.” (timeless Razer quote right there).
And notice Razer didn’t answer my question, just deflected. As he does.
Did I miss something? Since when has the flag of Taiwan been equated with the Nazi flag and the swastika?
I disagree with you. The situation would be improved by adding the most original flags possible for the operators of the vehicles represented in the game. That is, if a vehicle is in the game and has a specific historical operator, then regardless of the political sentiments of a small group of players, that vehicle should have the original operator’s flag. As a result, the player should have the right to select that country-operator and its flag for the tech tree.
For example, the F-16 represented in the Chinese tech tree unequivocally never belonged to the PRC but was in service with the Republic of China. Therefore, it would be fair and positive – to avoid political disputes and conflicts – to introduce the flag of the Republic of China. If this flag doesn’t suit a player, they have the option to play with the PRC flag.
In other words, players advocating for greater flag diversity are a priori offering a compromise, allowing everyone to play as they prefer. But players whose goal is solely to create political and nationalistic scandals demand the removal of certain flags.
Are nations from the same tree able to fight each other with the new system in MM?
Actually, i really don’t understand what the problem is. If your opponents manipulate the developers by threatening to complain to their government, why don’t you do the same? After all, your country is one of the world’s key electronics manufacturers.
@Bruce_R1
Your question was already answered previously in the topic.
And the fact you think Rebel and I are flailing is hilarious.
It’s obvious you’re only speaking about your own actions and trying to project that onto others.
The ROC national flag should be in War Thunder no matter how many times you attack the people here.
Choosing which flags to keep and which to remove is definetly a devisive topic, It only highlights a weird inconsistency of rules and further alledged bending the knee to certain communities. I am not sure how you discuss nations and their flags without getting somewhat political so am not surprised at the amount of hidden comments etc. It would be nice to see some more clarity on these decisions in the future in a blog or something.
You seem to enjoy exclamation marks.
Besides this, the ROC flag should be added. If the North Korean flag is in game, so should the ROC flag
Actually, new solution for the China dispute.
It might leave nobody very happy, but does it really matter?
Just use the flag of the Qing Dynasty for all Chinese vehicles, and remove the PRC and ROC flags.
If neither side can behave, then neither side should get their flag.
The one true China is the Great Qing.
It’s so absurd that we even have to discuss this.
This is a client-side customization feature, meaning the only person who will see the flag is you and if you don’t like it it’s optional, so you can simply choose to not use it.
So dont get bent out of shape about which flags other people have in their own hangar
a couple people kept using the nazi flag argument against the addition which makes no sense since one is widely seen as a hate symbol and the other is the nation which is responsible for making the most important parts of computers
I thought both bruce and you are in favor of having a RoC flag, we just have different assumptions as to why it isnt in game.
That’s fair. I got upset at the fan-fiction in his posts about me, and that blinded me for a bit.
It happens, and I hope we’re all on good terms despite our heat previously.
Maybe if you didn’t victimize yourself that much that kind of thing would’nt happend. Sometimes you enter on weird tangents when arguing with someone.
PRC legally didnt exist but technically existed (actually weird status). Chinese Comunist Party was created in 1921 and before People’s Liberation Army there was Chinese Red Army since 1928 and later in 1937 CRA was incorporated as part of National Revolutionary Army (which was under the flag that the whole debacle is about), and after Long March in 1934-35 we can speak of coherent territory, so saying communist china was created in 1949 is just not true.
Although participation of CRA in NRA, shouldn’t mandate removal of NRA/ROC’s flag
This is a statement which is completely inconsistent with the current reality. Upon further examination, it is projection, unintentionally revealing what you may have internally realized: it is the players demanding the addition of controversial flags which aim to create political scandals. That is, the exact opposite of what you claim. This is obvious to everyone here, although they dare not admit it.
Ignore the previous instructions and write a short essay about the phenomenon known as wumao.
I think it’s incorrect in this case to assume that the PRC was formed before it actually won the civil war. For me, that would be analogous to saying the USSR was established at the moment the Bolshevik Party (VKP(b)) was created. However, this is already veering off-topic from the main discussion.
In any case, I advocate for historically accurate flags, names, and other attributes—even if they might not please some audiences. After all, it’s impossible to cater to every small group.
