Not entirely true. It depends interely on the person/group waving the flag, and there are certainly groups out there that still glorify Stalin and his actions.

Who would it even be hating?? “Raaahh I hate rich people!!!” “Raaahhh I hate political dissidents” “Raaah I hate anarchists” ??? displays of political affiliation are not hate symbols just like how someone flying the US flag in the modern era doesn’t mean they support putting Japanese-Americans in concentration camps like that’s just not how the symbol is used. Compared to the Swastika, which is still used in the modern day to represent support of genocide.

Honestly, this whole system was implemented so poorly. We should have orders of magnitude more customization than they implemented. Where is my 48-star USA flag for WWII stuff or my Free France flag?
Even something as minor as the inconsistency I pointed out earlier in the convo that Italy uses its modern flag by default and relegates its WWII flag to “Kingdom of Italy” while Germany doesn’t use its modern flag and its historic flag is listed as “Germany” too instead of “[Greater] German Reich”
And that the UK is listed as “Great Britain” which has never been the name of the country.
So much missed potential here it’s infuriating.

The fact they removed Taiwan (ROC) flag and added a fictional Apache with the best Abrams to China seems suspicious. Especially when 2 updates before the VT4 was supposed leaked for Japan then they got a whole apology from the gaijin forum moderators.
“we avoid politics” then procedes to add an apachee to china with missiles and IRCM that it cant carry, along with an abrams.
Wheres my captured T90 or bmp at gaijin, or better yet the hind.

I’m fairly certain that this doesn’t violate the EULA on modification since it’s just an aesthetic thing but it would be cool if someone made a mod that fixes all the issues with the custom flags functionality including all of the historical variations
I just want to be able to make the US and France into israel via event/non-purchasable vehicles, you can make germany into italy but not the same with israel, sad times, still think naval flags should have stayed cause why not, why limit it

Kingdom of Italy right? I think the rule is you can’t turn the TT icon into another TT’s icon. Kingdom of Italy isn’t the main icon of the Italian TT.
Yknow even if they’re dead set on keeping one flag per political entity (so no 48-star USA or pre-1999 Russia flag), the ROC and PRC are not the same political entity (so where is our ROC flag?) and neither are the German Reich and FRG (so why are they both called “Germany”?)

I don’t even see Kingdom of Italy as an option in the Germany menu
I guess but still dont understand what issue there would be if we did change them to be another ingame tech trees, I also want to make britain into france damn it, also allowing for different names for the same flag was also nice. They are restricting this feature too much, only the user sees it no one else

I think it only appears if you actually own the vehicles, since they’re unobtainable.

In fact, the Chinese will not prevent the Americans from acquiring the J8 (I have even made a similar suggestion myself, in this thread), but I must remind you that the planned model is the J8B, not the J8F, and if I remember correctly, there is actually a Chinese flag vehicle on the American TT

There is not a Chinese flag in the TT, the closest thing i could find was ROC roundels.
There’s the old event LVT which was a Chinese vehicle before the Chinese techtree was (internationally) released.
My point is you cant change the nations flag in the hangar

Yeah, you can only do that for flags that aren’t already a “main” techtree flag. For example this means you can turn Germany into “Kingdom of Italy” if you have old italian planes, but you can’t turn Britain into France if you have the the DB-7.
Basically you can use all the national* flags of vehicles you own in a nation, aside from these:
*Flags are limited to national flags only, navy or military flags don’t count aside from the WWII German war flag that’s still the default for the tree for whatever reason.
