Make it make sense: F-scist flag, N-zi flag, Rising Sun flag (13 years in the game), Apartheid State flag, a south vietnamese naval ensign… but hold on let’s remove the Taiwanese army flag and not add the main flag, that’s the real problem and that’s what we should do… right Gaijin? Lmao

Removal of RoC flag does the opposite. It brings politics into the game. You can argue about RoC not being a legitimate China, but its existance as a separate entity is undebatable. It is the only nation that has an army flag in ground and air vehicles instead of the national one. It brings inconsistency and its unhistorical.

That’s nonsense. Just add the prc and roc flag

@Rebelpl
The ROC national flag hasn’t been added to dev server onward yet; and it should be.
That’s the correct criticism.

It should be national flags only.

Here’s evidence that it was once in the game though: Oh wait, you posted it. XD

Another position of mine is that the flag in the screenshot is the ROC national flag, and shouldn’t have been replaced by the army flag.

@Realtek0
Where has it been announced that national flags are not being added to the game?
Cause not in bug reports.

Edit added Rebel’s screenshot.

Gaijin doing anything and everything possible to be in the good graces of the mainland China players after the VT4 fiasco. Its why they’re getting more attention now :)

Heck, the 50-star US flag was, too, which is probably worse than the names lost with the naval ensigns, as it had no reason for it to be lost, as it was a national flag. I’m 90% sure they just deleted all flags attached only to boats on the flag changer.

As for the two names that use existing flags, they should C&P the flag over and attach the name or have some way just to use the name, even if we can’t have the flag.

It was removed a long time ago when they were adding the Chinese tech tree.

Gaijin wont bring back the correct flag, we all know why. But they should at least let us use the army flag in this new feature.

But doesn’t keeping it out make it political?

It’s a historical flag, even the most conservative Chinese views acknowledge the ROC until 1949, so just having it in game is entirely apolitical until players make it political. However if they do this is and should entirely out of Gaijins control unless it is done to actively harm others, which client-side customization isn’t.

Removing / withholding this flag is actively taking one side of the political argument, since it is Gaijin actively going against the precedents set by other nations (Germany for example has old German nations, so does Russia).

On top of that WWII Germany is represented by a War flag rather than a national one. This flag is also altered as a form of legal censorships. This shows that even with legal issues there is possible alterations to represent a nation anyways.

The national flag should be in War Thunder and it’d be incorrect if it’s not.

The Navy uses the same flag… it could be possible that someone on the team got confused and incorrectly decided to use the Army flag over the national flag. Not my opinion.

After all, how many people thought the Japanese Navy flag was the national flag for so long? It’s entirely possible the opposite situation could occur, and we know today that it’s the national flag, and hindsight bias is a serious concern here.

Edited to make things more clear.

So just to recap, Razer.

You said they never had the ROC official flag.

Someone pointed out you were wrong, that they did have it in beta then took it away.

Instead of saying you misremembered, your current theory is that flag in beta was actually the navy flag, which is the same thing, that they’d put there out of confusion, not the national flag, which again, is the same thing, and they replaced it with the army flag instead of the official flag, which again, is the same thing.

So one question: in your theory, once they’d sorted all this out, why did they replace it with the army flag instead of the state flag in beta then?

Unless you’re an NGO with a few mil in pocket and ready to head to court over a video game or you have the backing of millions of people for petitions or protests, nothing will happen. Some EU nations have already specified that display of historical subjects doesn’t apply as violation of respect or human rights when in historical context.

This is some next level cope. How could they be confused if the correct national flag was and still is in decals for golden eagles? It was added before china was in the game. The only reason why the army flag is in the tech tree is for monetary gain. I really would want it to be your way, but I think this was a intentional move motivated by profits, and I highly doubt they will add the correct one.

@Bruce_R1
The flag in the beta is the national flag, which is what I’ve explicitly stated multiple times to you.
Not sure why you’re posting it wasn’t when no one else did.

So just to recap, you falsely accused someone of saying the word “never”.
Then you falsely accused someone of having a memory they didn’t have.

Instead of having a discussion of what I actually say, you created two fan-fictions to argue against instead.

I cannot remember what I have zero memory of.
And I said “wasn’t added” in the context of this year at minimum.

@Rebelpl
If wanting the national flag in-game is cope, so be it.

Thinking gaijin did it as a mistake is cope.

First off, this is false. The Nazi flag is not in the game, and neither are symbols such as the swastika. Gaijin uses a modified version of the flag to avoid using such hateful symbolism.

Secondly, “making it make sense” doesn’t mean adding MORE fascist or imperialist flags. It means removing them. For example, the Rising Sun flag, which for some reason was used for the Japanese tech tree flag, was replaced with the Japanese national flag (Hinomaru).

This is an example of positive progress, and we are continuing on this path today. Your logic is “such and such is bad, therefore it justifies making it worse” is contradictory unless your goal in the first place is to make things worse. Let’s make things better, not worse!

Exactly.

RazerVon: “The ROC flag hasn’t been added yet… For ROC flag to be removed it had to have been added.”
Rebel: “It was removed a long time ago when they were adding the Chinese tech tree” (with photo proof)
Razer, flailing desperately: “Something being removed… means someone can say it hasn’t been removed.” (timeless Razer quote right there).

And notice Razer didn’t answer my question, just deflected. As he does.

Did I miss something? Since when has the flag of Taiwan been equated with the Nazi flag and the swastika?

I disagree with you. The situation would be improved by adding the most original flags possible for the operators of the vehicles represented in the game. That is, if a vehicle is in the game and has a specific historical operator, then regardless of the political sentiments of a small group of players, that vehicle should have the original operator’s flag. As a result, the player should have the right to select that country-operator and its flag for the tech tree.

For example, the F-16 represented in the Chinese tech tree unequivocally never belonged to the PRC but was in service with the Republic of China. Therefore, it would be fair and positive – to avoid political disputes and conflicts – to introduce the flag of the Republic of China. If this flag doesn’t suit a player, they have the option to play with the PRC flag.

In other words, players advocating for greater flag diversity are a priori offering a compromise, allowing everyone to play as they prefer. But players whose goal is solely to create political and nationalistic scandals demand the removal of certain flags.

Are nations from the same tree able to fight each other with the new system in MM?

Actually, i really don’t understand what the problem is. If your opponents manipulate the developers by threatening to complain to their government, why don’t you do the same? After all, your country is one of the world’s key electronics manufacturers.
