You would need to be in exactly the same tank for that to matter surely as all vehicles have vastly different reload times? As for firing ,the quick draw ,Some are on PC and some on Console. Lag , server quality,Moden quality(hard wired or wifi?) will determine who hits who first under those conditions not the millisecond savings offered by Gajin for a “small fee.”
As I said the sheer variation in infrastructure for online gaming from city to city or between countries will utterly negate a 0.2 second advantage. It is why we get ghost shots and tanks dissapearing.Zero Gajin can do about it in many respects.Even My console hard wired console with 6K won’t matter in many situations.Ping and lag can cause deviations which you see and many you dont notice.
Many players are on auto and use all the servers depending on need.I have noticed recently that at late night the game is dying on the UK and I am waiting ages in some BRs so jump across or go auto
Playing in foreign servers will in many case not produce anything noticeable but you can bet in terms of 0.2 seconds in a face to face that lag will play a huge part.Damn good chance your opponent rounded the corner and fired in his game before you even saw him in yours or something close.
People don’t realise that online gaming can be like that much of time.
That’s not how math works. No amount of noise magically deletes a signal. It just blurs it.
If infrastructure causes +/- 0.5s, then a 0.2 second crew skill impact will change that to +0.7 or -0.3
+0.7 happens more often than -0,3 does, so you still won’t get the shot off many of the times you would have with the crew skill. In fact it will make the difference exactly as often overall as if you had never added the +/- 0.5s of noise.
If WT does have a system like that, it’s likely to be an EOMM: engagement optimised matchmaker. What looks like a crappy result from your perspective, is simply outside of the scope of what this hypothetical matchmaker would do.
I don’t think so, many vehicles have “standardized” reload times to balance them out in their tiers.
- Loads of top tier vehicles have 7.8s base reload speed, with it going down to 6.0s when aced.
- Loads of ~9.0 vehicles have 8.7s base reload speed, with it going down to 6.7s when aced.
- American 90mm cannons have 9.7s base reload speed, exactly the same as German 88/90mm
This alone affects several dozen of tanks, so situations like I described before are bound to happen, sooner or later.
Vehicles who reload at 7.8s will have that number reduced to 6.9s with Reloading and Leadership skills fully upgraded, while aced crew will have that down to 6.0s.
I don’t think 0.9s is negligible from this point of view.
Also, some vehicles, like Tiger II for example, will have ~1.1s difference between fully upgraded “normal” crew and aced one, at 8.63s vs 7.5s.
Is it not enough for you to know that you did not waste your money on paying for an ace crew?
I get that but those timings are nothing in internet terms and easily lost by one player being thousands of miles from another.Might be different if you hardwire two PCs together like the old playstations but across continents?
It’s not something anybody thinks about and it’s not something I ever considered to that extent until an expert who has been doing that work for years told me about.I have taken many steps to make my own and customers set ups as fast as possible but there is much we cannot do at the moment.
Just because internet might make MORE of a difference (probably not in my cases, as I have fiber in Canada and only play on US servers, but ok) still has nothing to do with this also making a difference. Which makes it P2W.
Having fiber internet etc is ALSO P2W, but Gaijin cannot control that, so you can’t really bring that up as constructive criticism on their forum, by comparison. (They can have regional servers, but they do that already) They can control and improve crew skills being p2w though.
To be honest, I’m not really even that interested in their MM, whatever (if) they are using, it’s not really doing it’s job properly, seeing how many curb stompages we get throughout tiers.
Some people will buy a real Ferrari or fighter plane hull and convert it their game seat and put a sixty thousand dollar screen around it 360 with pneumatic movement but they still have to negate poor reception anywhere in the world when online that is just how it works. My advice is don’t get too beat up if you got out drew because that is often the net not you.
The only place I have found Gold Staring crews may work is the random stuff like Reloading at an airfield ,a few seconds or Robot crew shooting the occasional Aircraft down for you.
The odd kill once every four or five games.Hardly P2W.
And again, Gaijin cannot control that, so it’s all simply off topic for their forum. As are internet connection qualities. Not just off topic for this thread but for feedback to the company in general.
Crew skills, however, are within their control, and on topic, and are in no way nullified by any of that other stuff (see: “not how math works” above, which you already agreed to).
So why do you keep making tangents on things that are off topic and that nobody here can do anything about? Why do you not want crew skills to be less P2W? Do you have a lot of high skilled crews and are worried you might not unfairly win as much? It will be more satisfying when you do, you shouldn’t worry about that.
Which made sense TEN YEARS AGO… like if we ever needed an example of how poorly managed this game is, this is it, an entire decade has passed and they still have systems that have not been adjusted for the introduction of ground forces.
I play since 2017 or 2018? on xbox with a certified thrustmaster joystick - compared to controller the difference is massive. Not really expensive (around 90€) but rather cheap quality, so i use #3 now. Never flew with MnK, but if you spend some time with finding the right settings you can dogfight a hell of very good single engine fighters and win - especially if they use the instructor…
Agreed if you refer to Ground battles. As i fly only, avoid headons due to aiming disadvantage vs mouse aim and score almost all kills with deflection shots from behind you have not that extreme time pressure like the fellow Ground players…
Ehm - there might be players that enjoy smaller lobbies on the SA server (checkbox gone) or on the NA servers at specific daytimes whilst playing from Europe - knowing and accepting connection related disadvantages - and still have fun and placed above average…
See above - if you have the choice between playing on the EU server in this 16 vs 16 madness and mostly paired with hordes of rookies flying US planes whilst fighting vs Russian statpadders and hordes of Chinese bot B-25s or to play in smaller lobbies on the SA server (gone) or US server i take option Number 2. This 16 vs 16 madness kills prop Air RB…
Why would there be smaller lobbies on other servers? They just changed game mechanics by region?
I have no clue.
But if i had selected SA i simply had a hell of very small lobbies flying above the 4 Pacific maps Iwo Jima, Saipan, New Guinea and Gualdalcanal with historical MM - so with a pure JP team vs an pure US or US/UK team. Same with my SM 92 - 6 vs 6 up to 10 vs 10 axis vs allies like in the good old times.
Choosing EU server produces usually mixed matches in 16 vs 16 set up - the only way to circumvent these lobbies is to play BR 5.0 Italy in the P-47 - u have 85% of your time full uptiers 6 vs 6 paired with a German fighter and 4 Ju 288s vs 5-6 US/UK fighters…
??? I really thought I had posted in plain English.I appreciate you may speak French as your main but I see no signs of that in your typing.
If anybody will go to any desperate length to have the last word, final say, win the"argument " its you and not just with me but everybody.
My point is that the biggest stumbling block for a quick draw, face to face is the player themself. Are they half asleep? High on Speed or Coke, who knows? Do they have surround sound headphones, do they have amazing internet,do they live next door to Area 51? And there we all are throwing out cash at Gajin for a seconds extra speed. Half the clowns are playing an ULQ apparently lol.So may variables as I said again and again.
You pulling the trigger and getting the kill first every time in a face to face because you paid Gaijin just does not happen. It’s trinkets dangled before natives.
I never saw a game that instills so much paranoia in a player as Warthunder.
As I said when I’m hot, I’m hot! Watch our world but when I am stressed or tired I can’t hit my own ass with a banjo and that is with the same Gold/Silver star crews.
I will admit waiting ten seconds for repair rather than twenty five on my ditched PE8 is nice but the game ending before I get another chance is more than likely whether I have Gold star or not and I can only bomb what is there and that is up to me taking a potshot due to experience. If it helps its very minor.
Some sound advice there my friend as always.
I have tried via YouTube to sort the flying controls out as I can at least do a loop in a real plane but not on WT lol .Trying advanced setups caused more problems than they resolved especially in GRB where I gain maneuverability but lose the steady aiming platform I currently have.I need to look at it again and get it sorted out.My controller is cheap and terrible and that certainly does lose me the odd kill.
The news about the internet was a bit of a blow to me especially after all I had done at home to hardwire everything and max my crews lol .However down load times for updates is killer :)
Sorry ,I really meant to merge those two posts
Just for the record.
When I go on vacation to the sea, I usually take a notebook with me for bad weather or such.
I have made the experience, that during one vacation, nothing could touch me. There was an event on, and the first task I got done every day is to kill 12 players. I just clicked them away. It was incredible.
Sure enough, back at home the magic was gone. Not on the main machine, not on my notebook could I do this.
As the connectivity during vacation was much inferior to home, this points at one major culprit: The net code Gaijin uses to sync stuff. If you are on a shaky jittery connection, they may give you more leniency than if you are coming in like clockwork.
And one thing for sure, no ace crew works this well.
After that, I realized the importance of the connection. Unfortunately, my wife didn’t want to live there permanently…
@Stona_WT @Smin1080p
Is there a chance we, Ground RB players, finally get x3 multiplier on crew points gain ?
This issue is present for years now, multi-spawn modes like Air AB and Ground AB have this x3 multiplier, but Ground RB is the only (afaik) multi-spawn mode which doesn’t get this privilege and is treated like it’s single-spawn mode, just like Air RB.
I would like to get some clarification on this issue, so thanks in advance.
It’s a good point you raise and I know you have been around long enough to know the difference. It’s a far bigger deal than I ever realised.Like the crew skills for GE my superior home set up for CAT6 hardwire is benefit for sure in some ways but there is a big world wide web out there to endure and we all take a hit at some point.
With respect to the OP maybe G -tolerance which is certainly a game destroyer could be removed like some aspects of modding were removed like fire protection.
Gaijin have every right to make money and WT will be around as long as they do hopefully but they need to be sensible.Taking G force tolerance out is a small thing to ask especially as blacking out is a potential game ending anomaly. One would imagine that any player at Top tier has invested considerably in some ways.I can criticize F2P but it would be an empty game without them.
