The T34 wouldn’t go up if it was part of the end game heavy class.
The answer to minor nations being weak isn’t to destroy the heavy class. The answer is to combine minor nations so they aren’t weak or to accept that trees with few tanks will have gaps.
So we’re back to the problem of what happens when you stop balancing by performance for a specific section of the game, i.e. how you prevent the human element of matchmaking from abusing this set up. It was already detailed above so I won’t hash it out again.
While I agree that the meta is too skewed towards mobility, I disagree that it’s the “fault” of minor nations. It’s down to the fact that players seem to want faster action and to always have guns that can pen everything they meet. In other words it’s the same reason why we have tiny maps.
Also, heavies are not a monolith. I think some heavies do excellently, I’ve cited some. Others, especially heavy TDs, suffer a lot.
A bigger variety of mission types and objectives might help. Or they could give heavy vehicles a mechanic.
They’re already doing this with sub trees.
This is against their business interests, so they won’t do it, and will continue with sub trees instead.
There should be a progression in how balancing is determined.
First should be era of design and operation. I’d break it down by pre HEATFS and gen 2 APDS, pre composite armor/pre infrared gun sights and then modern MBTs, modern light tanks and the sort.
That would allow pre WWII to pre Korea/pre HEATFS tanks to fight how they were intended. Then pre composite tanks would fight how they were intended to fight.
There would be some limited cross over but that’s inevitable.
After that, the BR of the vehicle would be adjusted within its era.
Finally, repair costs or spawn costs. I think spawn costs for tanks should be part of the balancing equation, instead of simply by class.
Poor performing vehicles would be cheap to spawn and repair. Higher performing vehicles would be more expensive to spawn and repair.
The issue with minor nations and subtrees is that still doesn’t change time traveling tanks, especially when you combine two trees like Sweden and Finland.
This argument makes no sense, because tank development didn’t just hit a wall after WW2 ended. The M46 comes from the M26, giving it slight upgrades but leaving other features the same, and not to mention Sweden, Most of its tanks (Even low tier ones) are post war vehicles because Sweden didnt do a lot of tank development during WW2 because they werent involved in it, also Israel, Israel as a nation was only founded in 1948, 3 years after WW2 ended, but they started using Shermans like the M-51 we have in game, is the M-51 a post war tank or pre war? Many nations used tanks at different times so where would those go? Would one nation have their tank that they used in WW2 in the WW2 Bracket and the other have theirs in the cold war Bracket because they used it in the cold war. Ill use the USA/Israel. Israel bought 75 and 76 Sherman’s from the USA which they renamed M3 for the 75mm Sherman and M1 For the 76mm Sherman (names comes from the cannon) USA’s Sherman’s would be in the WW2 Bracket while Israels would be in the cold war bracket, imagine fighting against M46/47/48’s T54/55/62’s etc in a 76 Sherman?
The whole logic of “Historical Matchmaking” makes even less sense when you look at AIR RB.
Ill use the F14A and F15A as an example for this, they entered service in 1975 and 76 Respectively, So they should not be fighting against the MiG-29 and Su-27 because those are both 80’s vehicles, they should be fighting against MiG-23’s and 21’s. Is that fair? They far outperform both of these aircraft in every aspect.
I think the whole argument for “Historical Matchmaking” makes no sense and the only ones I see wanting it is German mains who play WW2 Era Heavy tanks because they want to curb stomp 75 Shermans and Cromwells like what they think happened during World War 2
trutel, m103, is4 and so forth send tehr greatings. I bet they love to be overpend by heat fs or sabots being slow as somthing and not do what they where supposed to do.
You have zero argument at all not mention your sick fixation on german main and ololol i will not give you anything beacause all i want is rofel stomp you.
The only one who makes no snese here is you not uderstanding the asigment and pulling arguments out of somwhere to sound smart.
get back to basics of understanding.
Sepration of WW2 and Cold War era.
You make no sense.
Your whole post makes little to zero sense as your position is based on assumptions - very obvious like in this case.
Instead of reading 19 minutes you might consider to read more of this thread before you post again - you might realize that your assumptions are wrong.
As an US main you might to look up actual WW 2 engagements of US armor to understand why wt is unable and unwilling to add necessary tools and setups (like infantry, arty or plain asymmetric battles) in order to create any kind of realistic battle scenario.
The whole debate circles around the impact of gaijin’s BR setting policy which tries to flatten technological or numerical advantages in order to create a balanced game play - and this approach results in pure fantasy game play; not more, not less.
Fantasy nations like Sweden (with hardware in WW 2 BRs) are part of the problem, imho your input as a Swedish main is irrelevant for WW 2 combat.
Your general input in this rather interesting thread is borderline to trolling…
Main like in the nation I play the most? Yes. But by far not the only nation I played and I have enough experience with WW tanks. Some of my highest KDR tanks are WW2 heavys and heavys in general.
The usual flag - there is nothing “offensive” if i call out a troll and gave an example exactly doing this.
I mean asking a question (= Fantasy Nation") , despite the fact that the thing like here “Sweden is no WW 2 nation and therefore just polluting WW 2 BRs with Cold War stuff” was clear mentioned (= with hardware in WW 2 BRs).
If you look up the definition of “trolling” - that’s one of their habits.
Fantasy is a genre of fiction involving magical elements, as well as a work in this genre.(Fantasy - Wikipedia)
Wikipedia didn’t said anything about hardware in WW2 BRs.
What about the other things I said? Are they valid or just “some trolling”?
If you’re referring to me, no, I’m not a German main.
I never said tank development stopped after WWII. I’m saying that the leap in tech during different periods of time should be taken into account for balance.
I dont even know what your trying to say theres so many spelling mistakes.
Also i brought up several examples why historical matchmaking will not ever work
Those ones were hypothetical but I actually have an in game example aswell.
There was an event a couple years ago for the battle of normandy, where the US got 75 Shermans and Fireflys and Germany got Tigers Panthers and Pz-4s, the whole thing was very one sided as the German team had much better tanks than the Allied side.
Also heres a real world example,
Do you know how many times American forces ran into tigers in Northern France??
Well its 3, yes 3, thats it.
The first time the Shermans won
The second time the Pershing lost(tiger got a lucky shot through the Coax MG)
The third time the Sherman won, but that one wasnt really a fight as the tigers were being loaded onto a train.
I am also not a USA main, its just they have a massive military and a lot of money so its easy to use them as an example.
I gave real examples based on historical evidence.
If you want an actual example from the game I have one for you.
A couple years ago there was an event for the battle of normandy that was very one sided, the allies were using 75 shermans and fireflys while the germans had panthers pz-4’s tigers etc. Due to the inbalance the queue was very long as everyone just wanted to play Germany.
Also I have looked very deeply into WW2 tank engagements, epically with US armour. I believe that you buy into either one of these " It takes 5 shermans to kill a cat" or “1 German tank is better than 10, but the Americans always have 11”
Both of these are myths and come from the fact that a US tank platoon consists of 5 tanks and a company is 17. US tanks always traveled in at least a platoon which leads to the 5-1 tanks ratio, its not because they needed 5 tanks, its because thats what they brought.
Finally I am not a USA main btw, I play most nations and Germany is one of my favourites, their tanks are a lot of fun, but I mostly play top tier for Germany bc I cant stand low tier German teammates
You posted nothing new (same as with your 2nd post), all was written long before in this thread.
That is the main problem here:
wt is besides skin, shape and some technical parameters mainly pure fantasy. There is no correlation between history and wt game play, set up or game mechanics. Bringing old stuff from yt (The Chieftain) is useless - everybody knows them.
In order to understand certain positions within this thread all you have to do is to read. Players like @AurenKarach were able to analyze the rather complex mix of player expectations, necessities to create a “playable” video game and gaijin’s economic interests with their BR setting policy.
Your reference regarding “historical MM” is simply not applicable - because nobody wants to have them implemented, at least not the players with passion for the game.
The discussion is rather interesting because of the complexity of the topic - there are no simple solutions for this issue.
So your post makes sense for you - but in the context of this thread it makes no sense to work with plain assumptions and repeat things which were discussed long ago.
Don’t get me wrong - i fully understand that some players of nations like sweden or israel need tanks with lower BRs to get crew points - but i also understand those guys which assess cold war tanks at WW 2 BRs as immersion killer.
People keep throwing up the badly done one off event but this is not asking for a one off event. This is the same game we already have and I dont ever recall waiting hours to play USA.I played USA last night at 6.7.People play against Germany everyday
As for WW2 if it matters you are correct it was not the USA who got to take on what few Tigers were around in Europe it was the UK/Commonwealth in some of the tanks that are the worst in this game with the worst ammo. Many of which are a BR below the Tiger
People carefully neglect to mention the full uptier /down tier we all have faced a million times already.
Being out matched is part of the game so I dont get your point.Maybe I am missing it.
