Still doesn’t actually improve kinematic performance over the -9L at all so isn’t actually that much more useful in situations where it would make a difference.
It’s effectively redundant since the few airframes that Gaijin could reasonably add it to all lie between the Battle Rating of 11.0 and 13.0, and as such do not need such efficient missiles (even if all it was was a reskinned R-73).

in that case idk still 99% sure we won’t because it’s not like russia really need an upgrade, like I sometimes fly the 27SM when I don’t feel like being a ef/raf metaslave and the R-73 is an absolutely amazing missile still

9M-9 does have seeker increase over ingame 9M (not iir) and it’s on USAF jets so that would work pretty well

This brings it back to missile flight performance. AIM-9R/M-9 will be worst of the late 4th gen missiles, so maybe 120C-5 is justified, for asymmetrical balancing

Fair enough. But even then, still lacks in flight performance against stuff like Python 4. Which is why later navy jets should get AIM-9R if P4, R-73M is added
74M1 is an export missile that uses the M2’s seeker on the 74M chassis.
R-74M2 isn’t a clipped-wing R-74, it had an improved motor and seeker.
