- yes for R-73M
- No for R-73M
I think they could add the r-73m to the dev server to test them because i saw some one talking about finding the PL8b in the files for the j11b and the the pl17 too for the j11b i think they could add the r-77m to Russia or at least test it out on the dev stream. there would only be 6 aircraft that could use it like the Su-25SM3/Su-27sm/Su-30sm/Su-33/su-34/ and the Mig-29SMT being the only aircraft in the game that could use it witch would put Russia really back on the top especially since there adding the R-77-1 i think it would really be nice if they do add this what’s Ur guys Opinion on this matter would be verry ceros to see what u guys think about this please leave a commit so i can see what u guys think on this matter please and thanks

So give USSR the best ARH and IR missile in the next update?

If it comes along with AIM-9X and IRIS-T, sure, why not

Not an equivalent. R-73M is more similar to Python 4.

If it gets R-73M and R-77-1, then EFT and F-15 should get 120C-5

Again, not an equivalent. The R-77-1 isn’t even as good as the AIM-120A/B in a practical scenario. It only looks good on paper because the simulated targets fly in a straight line.

It’s still better than R-77. And with R-73M on top of that, then 120C-5 is justified

No, it’s not. It’s a massive increase in range to what is already the best missile for practical range in the game. Being better than the worst ARH doesn’t mean the R-77-1 is equal to that. The R-73M is equal to the AIM-9M-10. That is what would be balanced.

Roughly equal seeker performance.

I suppose Sidewinder users are destined to the old 30g AIM-9Ms until Russia gets…

What is Russia suppossed to get so that Sidewinder users finally deserve an upgrade?
If not even R-77-1 and R-73M are enough for Sidewinder-AMRAAM users to go beyond AIM-9M and AIM-120A… what will be enough?
Aren’t R-77-1 and R-73M the most advanced variants respectively of their models?

far as i know, no aim9m variants could start tweaking mid air to hit their targets. only aim9m upgrades were motor and seeker and i pretty sure only the navy upgraded their 9m motor (correct if wrong)

You know the -9L & -9M in game is underperforming significantly in various respects, yes?

If you want better G pull you will have to wait until the R-74 for the AIM-9X. As I above stated the R-73M would bring about the AIM-9M-10.

r73m isnt much of an upgrade over r73, it pulls harder and can use its off boresight up to 60 deg but thats about it. R74 is more of the aim9x/iris-t/asraam equivalent.

The AIM-9M-10 gives software updates for guidance, unless you want the M-8 which would be worse you can stick to the M-10.

R-73 isn’t much of an upgrade to R-60M, R-73M isn’t much of an upgrade over R-73…
And when will Sidewinder users get an upgrade over AIM-9M?

“pulls harder” literally the only advantage r73 has and aim9m doesnt have, more pull for the r73 would be too much

All you really have that isn’t the AIM-9X, is the AIM-9R and all that is is a seeker improvement.
