Community Update No.8: Responses and What’s Coming!

China shouldn’t get the Abrams if Thailand doesn’t get the VT-4. Honestly the unified China tree is more cursed than the Japanese & Thai tree.
It would be a huge double standard and that looks like what they are poised to do.

Unified Korea is bad as well. They are repeating the same mistakes.

Although I am all for sub trees being added to Israel. I think they are doing it to avoid fixing bugs and to avoid adding the unique Israeli vehicles the tree deserves.

I mean ill take Kalmar Union lol, not like we hate each other, well aside from poking fun at the swedes but thats mainly cause we all mess with each other.

So put a frikin’ asterix against it “* - excluding sub continent” - or find other names more appropriate - you’re not limited by me :)

ETA: “Commonwealth Realms” currently comprises UK, Aus,Canada, NZ, Papua NG and a number of Pacific and Caribbean countries

Again you are not limited by me - which nations in that area do you see as having their own tree?

Wouldn’t be the first time

Hungary to avoid working on the Ariete
BeNeLux to avoid working on the Leclercs
And now Cyprus and/or Greece to avoid working on Merkavas

Exactly why I have zero faith.

That’s the thing, there is no other name you could give to the British tree that would make sense (other than Great Britain, of course).

It’s the British tree, it’s called Great Britain ingame and it’s the home of British vehicles and those of the South African and Indian subtrees.

If you want a good solution for national/main vs subtree issues, here’s the best solution we currently have:

With the C13 Tua being added (most likely at 8.3, same as the M901)

They could also add the Leone at 8.3 (OF-40, but stabilized, I think) to give Italy a proper 8.3 line-up

That you would accept - not the same thing at all.

“It’s the British tree,…” and “and it’s the home of British vehicles and those of the South African and Indian subtrees.” plus Australian and Canadian vehicles - so no, it really is no longer "“the British tree” at all - it is an international tree

Certainly a solution, and doesn’t look too bad at first glance so thank you for the link.

But getting fixated on 1 solution is not the best way to get the best solution

IMO the only sub-trees that were worthwhile are Hungary and South Africa. Everything else is a horrible idea; from adding Russian vehicles to the UK tree under the Indian flag, to turning Japan into a united republic of southeast Asia tree.

They should instead focus their efforts on Poland, Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia. You know, countries with the military and historical relevance that games benefit from.

How about making the terrible subtrees better by actually bothering to give a damn about them?

Some of them should have not even been added. One of the game’s core experiences for a very long time was to experience the nations that the trees individually represented. Picking the UK meant flying over Sicily, Berlin, Norway etc to fight Bf 109s and Fw 190s in Spitfires and Typhoons. The USSR flag meant Yaks and Lavochkins over eastern Europe. If you wanted the Pacific theatre, there was a distinct rivalry between the US and Japan on New Guinea, Iwo Jima, etc… now Japan has lost its identity, with a plethora of US vehicles under a different flag. Soon, they will also host Soviet vehicles.

Each flag impressed an identity, a meaning and feeling attached to it. Now that’s lost.

IMO, Hungary should have been implemented this way, and the Benelux sub-tree should have been a full and independent tree instead.

They should focus their efforts on Poland, Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia instead of adding more copy paste and ruining national identities in the game.

Calling a tree the “Commonwealth of Nations” tree when multiple Commonwealth nations are part of other trees doesn’t make sense and just creates new issues.

Same goes for the idea of calling the Israel tree “Levant”, “West Asia” or “Eastern Mediterranean” when not all nations of that region are part of the tree and some nations of that region potentially could either go to other trees, become split nations or even become their own trees (Turkey).

The trees are named after their main nation and there is nothing wrong with that. Sub-trees are just that, subordinate tech trees. They are supplements for the actual tech tree, which even with sub-trees is still dedicated to one main nation.

My thing is its too late to change whats already been done, but we can make the ones without any identity actually interesting if we focus on them instead of adding new slop subs, i call Finland Sloplamd because it fails to offer anything truly finnish for the most part especially on launch. They could add so many things that would have been unique and filled actual gaps but thats just not what happened.

If you have any other ideas for solutions or maybe just ideas to improve this one, feel free to share them under the suggestion. All feedback can help a lot in making sure Gaijin will have a good base for acting in the players best interest should they eventually see it.

Where else can we put Taiwan then? if it leave china then China is basically empty on the lower tier. Taiwan created the Chinese tech tree so I don’t see any issue…
