Commander Not Calling Range Out

I’ve noticed this for a couple months where I’ve been hearing YouTuber’s/live streamer’s commander call out the range to a target. Whenever I range find a target, the commander says this, “Tank, (o’clock), range” and then they never say the range, it just stops there. Or if the target is nearby, they say, “Tank, (o’clock), near” I’ve never heard the commander the range I’ve tried low tier and high/top tier tanks, I’ve tried with all types of rangefinders, and nothing works. A thought I have is maybe the Steam version (the one I’m currently using) is flawed or I’m just missing files. Please, if any of you have the same issue, please like this post.

Do you have your crew sound volume raised? Can you hear other callouts? Are you using a sound mod?

If your vehicle don’t have a range finder, the commander will not say the range after >1km

Untrue, Ive had callouts of ranges up to around 1600m while driving tanks without rangefinders. Its incredibly useful.

Crew volume is raised, I hear other call outs and I am currently not using a sound mod.

Edit as of 3/24/25: I found out that in the settings, if you change “Distance” to kilometers, the commander calls out the range. If you change “Distance” to miles, the commander doesn’t say it. Now I think this is a bug and I kind of find it a little annoying. I live in the US so we use miles, it’s what I grew up with, so having to switch to km is a little annoying. I hope Gaijin fixes this bug.

There also seem to be some issues with certain object types that are located between your tank and enemy tank when you range find, the commander was able to tell there is a target but instead it tells us the range of that object located in between. Example I range find target through the fence, instead of telling me the range of the target, it tell me the range of the fence.

That’s probably also something they may need to fix

From my experience, commander call-outs don’t happen if
A. The commander is dead
B. If your rangefinder says >xyz

The commander not saying the range depends on the commanders skill level, so if it is maxed out it will say a callout at longer ranges

The guns distance markings are in meters, I think you’d find the commander callouts a bit useless if he starts calling out imperial numbers that you then have to convert to metres for your guns distance marks.
