The picture I’ve seen it has stillbrew. You’re hte first person I’ve seen say otherwise TBH
Its 100% a vehicle without stillbrew.

The Smoke launchers were mounted further Forward in the Stillbrew Equipped vehicles. You can see the mounts for them on the Above picture,
Sweet man, then it could of been a mk9 then as a test?
if it was thermal imager testing it’s not far of the late 70s / 80s no?
The TOGs system (atleast from my research) first started production in 1975.
And started being fitted to the Chieftains the same year Via Totem Pole. But im not 100% on that, Id have to do more digging.
it would make sense for the Chieftains to get Thermals that early, Atleast some of them. Considering the TTS M60s were produced in the same era.
Aye that’s what I was thinking so if it was in production 75, on the chieftain by about 78. so could be a mk9 or so?
Also we really need the armour changes on them to roll from the Chief 900, I just got one tapped at about 800 meters by a bulldog through the UFP
TF is that man xD a 76mm shell clean through
If i had to GUESS, only Chieftains in Continental Europe were fitted with them that early, Outfits like the Berlin Brigade and such, and they only started appearing on mass later in life.
Its the same as the very scarce Info on the Chobham armor war kits that were produced for the Chieftains, And were stored in Europe. If the Cold War Went hot the Berlin brigade were the first line, to keep the soviets at bay, and allow the other outfits to get their war kits fitted, as it took upwards of 12 hours to fit the Kits.
This I didn’t know about, a whole 12 hours to fit the kits??
But yeah I get what you mean the better kit going to frontline brigades so they’ve a better chance at holding for longer.
Also not gonna lie, they really need to nerf APHE xD an AMX90 whatever the crap just shot me clean into the thicker frontal / side part of the turret and cut clean through nuking the entire crew.
How tf did it kill the driver is beyond me
You think thats bad.
that was a Tiger II.
That i somehow NON PENNED THE TURRET OF, DESPITE HITTING THE FLAT 185MM PLATE.
And of course it was a Console player… i really am staring to notice they get some very favorable RNG and such.
German tanks get such BS they survive so much they just shouldn’t xD
I shot a leopard 1 the other night with a 120MM apds through the turret and out the back and somehow did nothing?
I do not really understand why the MK5 can’t get a LRF and stay at 8.7 when there’s the likes o fhte redstar at 8.3 lol
Lol
jhust lol
It did not.
The TOGS uses the TICM II thermal imager, of which the first prototype examples were produced around 1980, with series production only begining in 1982.
So TOGS cannot have been in production / service in 1975, when the type of imager it used didn’t even exist until the 1980s.
Im starting to think there is some fuckery going with the Chieftains because i just found a Shot of the Internals of the a Chieftain Mk10 with a L11A3 gun, Which a Mk10 shouldn’t have. They had the L11A5, for APFSDS or it SHOULD atleast.
EDIT: and another Mk10 with a L11A3…
Really? I mean we had so many variants brought up in standards is it possible things were overlooked?
Im bringing this back up because Genuinely.
Who the hell thought this was a good idea?
The Chieftain 900 is just a worse MK5.
Sure it has a 2mph Higher top speed, but in every other metric its worse. Slower acceleration, slower turning, Slower EVERYTHING.
There is a reason the Chieftains can work so well in City environments if you need them too. They are AGILE. a Mk10 can turn on a dime and swing its gun and armor around in seconds if needed.
The 900 can’t. That garbage copy and pasted Transmission from the Leopard 1 just doesn’t. Its slow to accelerate, Slow to turn, has a Slower neutral steer, and over all is just WORSE.
Add on the fact its too old to even have APFSDS, and doesn’t even have the GUN TO FIRE IT (the real 900s being built off a pre Totem Pole Mk5 that had the L11A3 barrel)
But the Mk10… God forbid the MK10.
That thing genuinely doesn’t work at all anymore.
Its just a worse Olifant Mk2 now, and the Olifant isn’t great.
Chieftain has worse armor, mobility, Sights, shells, everything.
There was no reason to move either of these tanks up, let alone a reason to add the 900.
other than to give babies that can’t work around the genuine amazing mobility of the Chieftain outside its top speed, a tank to play. When they already had that in the Olifant Mk1 and Mk2, Vickers Mk1 and Mk3.
The least you could do is give the Mk10 a pitty prize of its damn thermals. And the Hybrid L26. and its 5 second reload.
Genuinely, are all of the downsides of the 900 really worth 2 more MPH?
Id like to have a GENUINE conversation with the person who made this decision. Really.
I want them to sit down and actually EXPLAIN THEIR REASONING outside of a few Garbage spreadsheets that do little to actually understand the playerbase, or how their game works.
All moving tanks like this UP does, is make it so more people STOP playing them, and only the best players keep going, keep using them, and keep doing well in them because they are the best of the best.
But its not like this was a Human made decision, i doubt that heavily, it was probably some Ai chat bot gaijin just feeds all the data too and spits out garbage.
How else do we end up with Modern Turbo Probs with rockets that can nuke MBTs, at lower BRs than actual WW2 ground attack aircraft.
Olifant mk2 is a bit busted at 9.3 lol it has gen 2 thermals which allows it to see better than every one else. This thing is definitely a 9.7 material, in a lot of situations it is better than the fv4030. While 900 is bit crap which I agreed.
Bro what? Couldnt force me to play the mk2, even with a hot poker. Non existent armour and slugish mobility makes peaking over hills a death sentence.
Where is my Chieftain mk.10 gunner’s thermal, Joker ?

I have 4.7 kd on it, way higher than any 9.3s I’ve ever played. Only problem is concealment as the thing on top of the turret sticking out way too much.
Also have the problem of What composite is there, Only covers the Upper half of the turret, and not the turret roof, meaning its just a simple case of the enemy either aiming under it, or for the turret roof. and KO’ing you.
