TBF there IS conflicting Information about the Thermals, and the Totem Pole program as a WHOLE.
I can understand gaijin’s hesitance to add Thermals to the Mk10.
I have pictures of a Mk5 fitted with them in the old IR Spotlight housing.
The British and their Thermal imaging is very odd, because even the Challenger 1’s didn’t have thermals for some time because they just couldn’t make enough of the TOG’s boxes to keep up with demand.
Hell by Desert Storm there were still a couple that didn’t have Thermal Imaging.
But there is also mention OF Thermals on Chieftains as early as the MK5s, mostly for the Groups in Europe, as they weren’t needed for the guys back home in the UK.
There was also a Full War kit developed for the Chieftains with Chobham armor and all that. BUT they never saw use, because it added like 15 tons of weight to the vehicle, and were only intended for Certain battalions, if the Cold War went hot.
Not at all, I usually just sit and snipe the enemies which you can tell by my low winning rate for this vehicle. This playstyle don’t win matches as you need to apply map pressure to compensate for people who does the objectives.
Pretty much how i play as well if i have the chance. But even then, 4.7 is insane for a tank that ive done exactly that in and just end up dying to a heat rout hitting my turret ring every time i crest a hill.
It is not that insane, i got like a kd of 4 while spading it, it is a pretty good vehicle for 9.3, and it does quite well on uptiers as well thanks to the dm63 and 2º gen thermals, the mobility is also pretty decent since it gets the upgraded engine and transmission over the centurions
Aight that’s actually pretty funny. The South African MBTs are an odd spot in the tree TBH but it is a fair point they sometime just buff the vehicles for no reason.
