The armor on all 9.0 russian MBT tanks are extremely overrated. They don’t hold up to darts at all.
You are wrong. It was 8.3 for years. Standard T-55 has only ever been 8.0-8.3 for like five years+ too

The 900 could be 9.0 with L15A5 tbh and MK10 can stay at 9.3 with L23A1

Yup pretty much, and if you’re using the L1 105MM cannon, you can also just pretty muhc UFP them, and have been able to for a very long time, even with the composite brick, only with the HEAT can you do sh** all to them.
Which I learned the hard way lol.
I know the T55AM1 was 8.3 for a short bit mate, it was then moved up in august of 2023 to 8.7 again last I checked, the BR changes my be floating around.
It was only 8.3 for what was supposed to be a short period though ended up I think 3 years? , to bolster the lineup at those areas.
Unless i’m mixing it up.
Pff it’s pretty god damned annoying sometimes lol, I really like those cold war T series before the auto loaders came into play, and their armour is just so, ass xD
The T55 for example is like a soviet M60, not great mobility, worse turret traverse, Okay round, okay reload and makes an okay tank.
The AM1 and AMD1 are pretty fun but 9.0 for them is a massive stretch, coming up against 10.0s hurling things like DM23 120MM at you is not great xD
Definitely could be, especially if we get the proper L15A5 which should theoreticall be closerto the L23, at least in angled pen, @Jarms knows a bit more than I do about it all.
It’s literally not in game, it has a different hull model, AKA the proper hull model of what all the other chieftains should have.
We also mean UNDER that sheet metal.

Id also like to point out that Garbage like the T-58 is still 8.7, While genuinely being better at everything the Chieftains did at 9.0.

The T58 didn’t do what they did better.
They have lrf,.darts, and armour.
Its got a huge ass cannon which fires fast. Thats about it

Sometimes, i forgot to even mention it man as it should be quite obvious. However yeah definitely fully stabilisid hurling 120mm darts definitely makes a difference.
I came across 2 T58s in my mk3 chief the other day, nuked em both

TBF the T58 is really easy to kill from my experience, it’s got basically no armor for a heavy tank and sneezing on the gun collar takes out the breach and/or barrel

It’s got the same hull as an M103 that’s why lol, too many folks spend too much time shooting the turret ring and getting caught out rather than shoot the breach or the hull.
It’s also quite hard for people to use at longer ranges as the HESH and such weigh so much
That’s if you find one that isn’t semi-aware of your presence though.

That “same Hull as the M103” also is a volumetric hell and legit ate 3 rounds from my Rooikat 76 the last time i fought a T58.
And thats a 320mm pen Dart.
This change would have been nowhere near as bad if the Mk5 Chieftain was actually a Mk5 Chieftain.
Instead its just a MK3/2 you call a Mk5.
Mk5s Had a LRF, no .50cal Ranging gun, and had access to L15A5. (And even had the barrels for APFSDS)
But since you REFUSE to fix L15A5, I doubt the Mk5 Chieftain will ever actually be a Mk5 Chieftain.

Last time i came across a T58 in my chieftain, which was last night.
I killed it in two shots.
One to disable the 2nd through the hull to kill it, the M103 hull is not a volumetric hell at all, last i checked the hulls not even volumetric.
So stupid that its C&P A3 as if the A5 wasn’t the standard until L23A1 came anout.
But then we have L23 which isn’t even real
They gave it volumetric which actually buffed the armour a bit, they just havent rolled it out to the others yet…

if they fixed the engine hp, gave this thing a lrf and gave all the chieftains volumetric armour we would be eating good. Would give us a mk 3 at 8.7 that basically becomes the mk5 we have now while filling out the 9.0 lineup with 3 different cheiftains (mk5, mk 10 and 900) with the chance of a mk 11 being added at 9.3. Insane how we still dont have a mk11 in game yet.

Shame the mk10 and 900 went to 9.3.
Also we’re missing the other Mk900 which was even better than this one.
The Problem with the Mk11s is that there are two completely different versions of Totem Pole going around.
One that seems more accurate, and another from that Russian book.
The more prominent version (and likely more accurate version) of Totem pole shows that the Mk 6-7-8-9-10-11-12 Chieftains were all just upgrades to older models to bring them up to Top of the line MK5 standards.
They only later got Stillbrew.
And from what i can find they ALL had Thermal imaging post the Totem Pole program.
BUT, there is conflicting info all over the place about the Chieftains and their Thermals. I have found places that say some earlier marks had “Stealth” thermals(aka thermal imagers in the IR spotlight housing), And only the Mk11s got the Proper TOGs box from the Challengers.

That was the Mk10 that was trialed for before the Mk11 no?
That picture is of at MOST a Mk5, no still brew. you can see the smoke launchers mounted to the turret proper, Not on the still brew.
