The German shells still have a large enough bursting charge to 1-shot most times when it perforates the armour; while the Chi-Ri does have a much larger bursting charge, very rarely does it have a meaningful effect.
Panzer IV has 5mm more hull armour. I said BETTER armoured not heavily armoured. Neither the Panzer IV nor the Chi-Ri are well armoured, despite numerous people calling it “the Japanese Tiger 1”.
Good luck trying to use the Chi-Ri as a sniper when 90% of the time you’re on close-range maps… And also good luck not getting counter-sniped by Tiger IIs.

Just in a single match, I managed to kill a KV-1E, a KV-1B, and a KV-2. With the Type 4 Chi-To.
Same 75mm.
KV-1E->Single shot, dead entirely.
KV-1B: 2 shots. But that’s due to my gun bouncing.
KV-2->2 shots, but that’s due to it backing up. Point is, I would disagree wholeheartedly. If I had attempted this with the Panzer IV, none would have penetrated and done jack crap. Unless it’s the KV-2; that’s the exception.
With the Type 5, however, which also uses the same 75mm. 3 rounds is not a fun game. Especially when you die to it.
Also cause for some reason many don’t understand context nor what “implies” means, yes, I’ve played the PanzerIVs,s and I am within 5.7 and a bit higher, and I don’t intend to pass WW1, Interwar, and WW2 Germany.
5mm of flat armor=zitch. It’s meaningless.
Type 5 Chi-Ri I-II (because, for some reason, the vehicle isn’t the I model fully nor the II model even though irl it was the II model). Utilizes a slight angle. In a lot of cases, if it was lowered, that improves the protection. Slightly. But still more than a flat plate would.
Why would I care about luck? German mains have some of the worse eye sight and situational awareness. I kept hearing an M24 and another tank, and this one Panzer IVG/H idk decides to drive past me despite being sitting there almost as if I knew something was there, badabing, and he gets us both killed and decides to call me an “Idiot”.
So no, I am not concerned about a Tiger II at all. Cause if a German main is running it, they couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn if their lives depended on it.
It is fully Chi-Ri I and not Chi-Ri II which was smaller with 500hp engine
