Chengdu J-10, History, Performance & Discussion

If they add JH-7A2 with more KH-29T or C-701KD or C-704KD, or add JH-7A pl-5Ell and 4 kh-29T, he be more cool cas than j-10B.

Well, it is a dedicated air-to-ground strike fighter.
But J-10B will still offer something new, it can carry much more than the J-10A.
I still wish we get something like Su-30MKK or MK2 in the future though for CAS.

Some Su-30MK2 has been upgraded to fire PL-12 and PL-8B.

As far as I know, some leakers get their information from a preliminary changes sheet (PDF) sent from someone within Gaijin and upcoming additions and changes are added to it and may be removed from it in future. If that would be the case, J-10B was written there earlier and appeared as coming to leakers.

If they don’t post their source it is simply “I made it up” and nothing more. It’s not necessarily credible. Mike_10d is not an authoritative source of leaks.

It reckon it needs ir aams with irccm especially for ARB. Rn it isnt as bad but before it struggled in when the iriaf was dominating. Also want to q5L to get some sort of pl5 and more ordances cause rn the q5’s have the worst ground attack loadout

I found an image of J-10B’s radar.

Apparently it has approximately in-between 1200-1300 transmit and receive modules.

That is actually higher than Rafale and by quite a margin, considering not until the new AESA is it 1000 GaAs T/R units, which I will assume is lower than that figure before, never mind PESA. Also how can we confirm the first it is J10B and not C, cause the only notable difference between them is the antennas on the back which are invisible due to the crazy exposure.

The first radar in the image I sent below seems to match the J-10B’s radar appearance, and it is designated being for J-10B. So that is what I assume.

This is what the AESA radar for J-10C looks like. Of course, it is covered so we can’t tell the appearance.

Here’s a J-10AS performing a low-speed high AOA maneuver

Looks like a simple dry thrust circle completed with little loss in energy and a tight turn radius. AoA likely not that high, just looks high.

Yeah, looks neat though.

@Gunjob Is it possible for u to have a look at this issue?
Also it seem to feature a new double pylon similar to that of AMRAAM ones.

J10 can carry PL11s?

A bit pointless I’ll admit. Still quite cool.

Early production version. the PL-12 was well prepared later than J-10A, and fitted J-8F first. before PL-12 fitted J-10A, it used PL-11, and J-8F was the only ARH carrier In PLAAF for a short time.

12.7/13.0 J-10A early with no arh would be nice to have, also would give another reason for MLU to get its full potential without having to worry about china not having a “good 12.7/13.0” plane

yeah, the reason for F-16A MLU stay at current position is that it has its position(SARH + irccm IR missile) here in this br, and J-10A early can replace it.

F-16A Block 20 MLU doesnt have IRCCM. It A2A armement are 9P with 9L and 7M

I love the sexy diverterless intake.

my mistake

Hi, I just got the J-10A recently, aside from the usual missile gimps, the radar also seems to be comically low range compared to its peers? Doing some light reading I see websites claim a more reasonable 120-160km range than the pitiful 75km range that the KLJ-3 gets right now. Do you guys happen to have usable sources that I can make a big report with to get its range to be more reasonable for an early 2000s radar?
