Changing Battle Ratings based on Unlocked Modifications

this idea is not applicable to EVERY vehicle and there are exceptions!

what if BR’s changed based on how many and what kind of modifications you’ve unlocked

right now, every tank or plane is assigned a battle rating that reflects its FULL POTENTIAL , meaning, a fully spaded version.

but when you first unlock a vehicle, it’s nowhere near that level, stock grind is a genuine pain and everyone knows how it feels to drive an underperforming tank against opponents who already have every upgrade imaginable

lets take the M48A1 as an example to discuss this topic with!
its current BR is 7.7, but when you first unlock it, the performance gap is kinda painful

  • Stock gun handling: slow reload, no APDS, and weak penetration options.
  • Mobility: underwhelming until engine upgrades.
  • Turret rotation and optics: sluggish compared to fully spaded versions.

at 7.7, you’re already facing tanks like the T-55A, Leopard 1, and early MBTs that outperform it in almost every category unless you’ve unlocked key modules

if the M48A1’s stock configuration temporarily dropped to 7.3, it would face slightly less punishing opposition (like late 6.7–7.3 vehicles).

that would make the early grind actually enjoyable, without fundamentally changing the tank’s full-upgrade balance.

as soon as you unlock the APDS, its BR would rise naturally back to 7.7, where it initially belonged

I saw threads like this dozens of times.

They share all the same flaw:

They try to find a solution for a deliberate design choice by gaijin.

The idea of spading a stock vehicle serves multiple purposes - the most obvious (besides others) are to encourage players to spend GEs for modules and to make fully spaded premium vehicles even more attractive.

This change would be far better for planes at it would allow you to (for example) remove the AV-8C’s missiles and use it as 8.3 CAS in GRB.

I dont want to be that guy, but this was already discussed several times, we really dont need another thread like this.

Just from two seconds of forum search:

Dynamic BRs have been heavily requested but they have a major issue. Gaijin can barely place vehicles at the right BRs when they only have 1 BR, but mulitple is a recipe for disaster.

The most I could see being done in the regard to stock grind is

A) Making the strong grind easier (but Gaijin deliberately makes it hard)
B) Perhaps adding an uptier cap for X number of games after purchasing it. So that your first few games at the very least are deliberately “easier” than normal.

I would like to see Dynamic BRs in the future, but in an extremely limited capacity on a case by case basis. Mostly in air. For example

Tornado F3 Late with Aim-9M/Aim-120B = 13.0/13.3

toggle and option for “advanced weapons” and now its

Tornado F3 Late with ASRAAM/Aim-120C5s = 14.0/14.3

(Now the fact that the F3 Late exists at all does kinda show Gaijin has 0 interest in adding something like this but many many times has an aircraft been screwed over by getting better weapons than would serve its main role, like the Gr7 getting Aim-9Ms that made it a lot harder to play as a mud mover in ASB)

But I dont really see a good way of adding this in GRB

I think this might be too complex to implement. Perhaps simply not being uptiered to higher BR matches until the player has researched a certain number of upgrades might be a good compromise

In order to prevent exploitation, this would mean loadouts cannot be changed in-match, which would lead to leaving on inopportune maps a common practice.

Adding exceptions is even worse.

I do what I tell others to do when stock grinding:
In tanks, focus on being 2nd or 3rd line for your team. Emphasize support.

For aircraft: Be 2nd line, be part of a fighter wolf pack. Hit ground units when safe to do so for extra rewards.

Gonestly 5 games guaranted downtier or a 0.3 uptier would be enough to at least get parts and make the tanks playable.

Dont know what to do with air especially at higher tiers.

For me it seems as a way too complicated solution for such a simple problem.

There is a much easier solution to fix it once and for all:

Remove the concept of stock ammo from the game. All tanks should have all shell types besides smoke unlocked by default.

And in this very simple way, the whole problem is solved.

Having stock ammo is by far the biggest reason for stock vehicles to underperform. Sure other mods are also useful, especially stuff like LRF so it could also be treated similarly, but it’s not nearly as impactful.

The only type of shells locked behind modification grind should be smoke.

YES. This is the real solution we need. Unfortunately not something gaijin will do

Or course gaijin aims to make the grind as painful as possible, so that we’ll open up our wallets
