Changes to Bomber Survivability

The missing ones

Good job flying the Death Star and do what the Death Star supposed to do. Lol

none of this is providing protection from the front

so why is the unarmored glass stopping 20mm HE

That my oversight to not exclude the Death Star. The bomber problem is always an ammo problem, where Germany prop didn’t have these that are least effective at killing bombers now.

So they accidentally modeled the missing armored glass?

Probably because HE is currently absolutely busted. 7.92mm AP-T seems like a reliable way to pilot snipe bombers. So i figure all AP is reliable against pilots. Use that knowledge as you want.

Large caliber HE should most likely absolutely destroy the unarmored cockpit windows on bombers that didn’t have armored ones, here’s hoping for a fix

Which part of “ALL the bombers are like this now” did you not understand?

The issue isn’t HE. HE is fine. The issue is that bombers are now armored like interwar tanks.

Bombers essentially are plated in invisible weightless steel plates at the moment.

These silly changes need to be walked back quite a bit.

People who defend these changes were sick of the fighter meta of broken fighters and bombers that were free kills whom couldn’t do anything.

Everyone can be as sick of any state of the game, take your pick, but that doesn’t justify defending another broken state of the game just because “but i suffered before.” It does not contribute in any way to actually making the game better.

Better to leave personal feelings aside and try to have common sense to notice that something was overdone, and perhaps go forwards from there. Not religiously defend a broken state.

What are you saying here?

Sorry to break your bubble, but fighters are still meta in the current Air RB space. A whole new gamemode is needed to put all plane types on level playing field.
But i think that type of gamemode is unfortunately against the direction of WT, which is focused on faster gratification, matches and time-to-action. I can’t blame Gaijin for taking that direction, they have to go that way to appease to the new generation of gamers, who want fast and easy rewards.

So if fighters are still meta, I see no problem with bombers being like real life bombers and taking hits and hits to kill.

Ngl every bomber I’ve shot has still died.

Bar maybe the Ju-288C being super tough.

Most just get an engine fire and that’s it, they’re done.

I think we should incorporate the reproduction of “stress concentration” into the bomber’s damage model.

5 hits

I had an engine fire going on for all 3 kills lol

From my experience testing bombers out, engine fires actually don’t seem to do anything, much like fuel fires.
I’ve watched my engines, in B-17’s, B-26’s, B-25’s, Do 217’s, Me264, etc etc, burn over and over again, but the engine itself is still “slightly yellow” or “orange” while the engine cowling itself is black (which doesn’t affect anything)

And making something completely risk free to fly shouldn’t be the way to go, or the rewards need to be reduced drastically, since you’d basically be playing PvE if no one could kill you. I think a tuning of the current damage model, to make them less durable (NOT TO THE EXTENT OF PRE-PATCH, SINCE SOMEONE IS GOING TO MISUNDERSTAND WHAT I SAY) should be the first step.

After that i’d look at making a new gamemode for RB, much like EC, with better bombing targets, rather than generic marked bases. No markers for enemy planes so you could actually use terrain to hide your advance. Larger maps to where bombers need to take off, but have enough room to still climb to any direction, or fly in low if they choose to.
This kind of gamemode, like i said before, would go against what the new generation of gamers expects → quick and easy rewards with minimal effort.

Do I agree they’re a little too buff in some regards? Sure. Probably 10% too durable.

But until ai gunners actually do something in RB, and sim… then they can keep it as is.

Because an expert / ace crew gunner crew is useless.

Their range should be nearly doubled. While also having the damage models slightly adjusted.

  • personally I love long gameplay, and being able to fly in formation with bombers in Sim. But depending on the BR. Sim rewards can be terrible or decent.
The problem being as you said, people need quick gratification. Matches have become shorter and shorter over time.

If there was no manual control option for gunners, sure, but not nearly doubled. But with manual control for gunners, where the range is what you want to shoot at, absolutely no.

Also other issue i have is needing less gameplay, for more results. Not good for a game like WT

Great idea, then I can get kills while completely AFK!

Depends on what control type you play on.

Controllers are a bit difficult to his targets with gunners.

M&K is way easier.

Both consoles support M&K for WT
