The wings
You can’t fly if your wings are too badly damaged, and 200 20mm HE shells should damage a wing badly enough to make it unfeasable to fly. However this is not the case and killing a bomber in a way that removes enough lift is just not possible.

One of the most baffling things about this whole conversation and arguments of those who defend the current state, is that they act like playing bombers and using the gunners on them is some kind of high IQ skilled gameplay.

Sure unnerf the turret gunner then. That would be a good comprermise. Fighter pilots in the past complained the gunner was too OP; we need to nerf both to accommodate. Now, buffing the bomber DM a bit too much seems to be a good way for fighters and bombers to fight each other without any side get killing too fast.

We’re also yet to see the people who claim that “You just need to aim better and actually hit critical components” to show us any actual footage of them doing it…peculiar.
If any of those people want to show me how it’s done, with footage. I’ll hop in the B-17 as a bomber noob, and you can show me in a custom battle, with your own thick little fingers. Because i wanna see and learn how they do it.

Bomber gunners had their accuracy unrealistically nerfed a few years ago. The guns themselves were changed, and not the AI.

There’s also some kinda desync with the fuel gauge going on, I had way more fuel than needed to RTB but ran out

if you know how to position yourself it doesnt matter since you can just pepper the enemy from any angle
I know, my point is that he wants the game to play it for him, so he has less gameplay in his gameplay. For the same reward of course.
Compared with fighters yeah, Bomber gunners have artificial spread and lack systems such as the B-29s targeting where all turrets accurately converged on one target
B-66 (Atleast) lacks its radar-assist.

Please my man, show me how you get 4 air kills, land and win the match, surviving it all. All with only using your mouse. In a fighter of course, since it’s so easy.
Edit: Because bombers are so braindead easy, i did it, stock B-17 too. As someone who doesn’t play bombers and hasn’t even practiced leading with gunners.
