Changes to Bomber Survivability

the fact you can only destroy the things inside a bomber but not the bomber itself rn is pretty fucking stupid

The context is He tries to use his survival experience in War Thunder to invalidate others’ shot-down experience.

A) You can kill bombers just fine If you don’t have a skill issue

B) Fun fact. Flesh is a lot more fragile than aluminium and wood

fun fact i dont think a wing should be holding onto the plane after getting hit with ~200 aphe 30mm shells

it should fold around 20 max

I mean my main issue with it is the current damage models invalidate entire cannon ammo categories like HE/FI.

It’ll be so funny when many bombers go in BR because of how powerful they have become.

Doesn’t help that Gaijin made bombers skin equivalent to 7-10mm steel.

Kill a G8N1 that has climbed above you. Find a route to attack it safely without it taking more than 10 minutes too.

You’re hitting what is effectively a block of metal that does nothing but keep wind under it and let wind flow across it.

You know what actually keeps a bomber in the air? A pilot…engines? Or were you not taught physics in school?

the b17 was literally called the flying coffin in the later stages of ww2

See the difference between us, the “Fighter mafia” as you call us and you, and everyone who thinks this is fine. Is that i, and many others in the “fighter mafia”, see reason. We don’t think that the current situation is good, and we think that they are overtuned, and just need a little fine tuning to make them slightly less durable than now, but not as fragile as they were.

Because, and i know this might be hard for you to process but bear with me, there is more than the extreme ends to things. It is called the…middle ground. See, it wasn’t that difficult.

Physics also taught me things with holes in it don’t tend to fly well.

Common when you find out you don’t get the shiny new plane and are instead given the hunk of junk that’s pushing a decade old.

bomber players when they can’t beeline for the giant stationary undefended target that is always marked on the map without any opposition

The wings

You can’t fly if your wings are too badly damaged, and 200 20mm HE shells should damage a wing badly enough to make it unfeasable to fly. However this is not the case and killing a bomber in a way that removes enough lift is just not possible.

Wait, you didn’t know they had mouse aim and instructor to help them stay airborne in WW2? Get your facts straight please

they were still being produced lol bombers arent invincible they dont have plate armour covering all their components

they are aircraft and aircraft are fragile

One of the most baffling things about this whole conversation and arguments of those who defend the current state, is that they act like playing bombers and using the gunners on them is some kind of high IQ skilled gameplay.

Sure unnerf the turret gunner then. That would be a good comprermise. Fighter pilots in the past complained the gunner was too OP; we need to nerf both to accommodate. Now, buffing the bomber DM a bit too much seems to be a good way for fighters and bombers to fight each other without any side get killing too fast.

fym “unnerf” pissing is harder than aiming with the gunners

Wait, how do you unnerf yourself?
Or do you expect the game to do that for you, to make your gameplay include less gameplay?

the fact fires just dont spread at all doesnt help either
