what about the time to line up a shot on approach?
cant really target the engine until you can get them into your sightline and be able to get a firing solution. The easiest ways to to so is in a headon, the back, or from up top
not to mention high explosive and incdindary is doing jack crap nothing
You know bombers are significantly slower than fighters in most cases and can’t manoeuvre compared to single engine fighters? Except against fast bombers like 188,288,TU-2 etc. you, as a fighter, choose the engagement unless the altitude advantage is that great.
You’re implying that bombers should go back to the old model then?
because i disagree and agree with that statment
while yes, fighers should choose the engagment, the fact that they snap in half in just a half second before they can fire at the bomber makes the bombers pretty much untouchable to some extent and that won’t be allowed by anyone except bomber mains.
posting it again and maybe it won’t be removed this time
The reason HE is doing nothing now is because the skin has gone from thin aluminum in the last update (just like IRL) to now providing the protection of much thicker armor steel

Glass windows also provide way more protection than they should

In fact, you can hit a plain unarmored glass window right next to the pilot with a 20mm HE shell, and there will be no damage done!

What 20mm HE is it here?
And yes - it is god damn absolutely mess. I can’t understand how it can be called as “realistic DM”
Type 99 Model 1 HEF (non tracer) from the same plane
So 12g of TNT equivalent doing puf puf…
Even 30mm Type 5’s HEF shell with 47g of TNTe, if it hits in such a way that it does not have enough kinetic penetration to overcome the window, will also do no damage!
Just aim better!
Really hopeless = (
this must be fixed!
my aim is great, i just dont want to be snapped up before i even start firing.
And some people will look at you in the eye and say this is how bombers were moving in ww2

This is historical. A single AA hit and the B-17 desintegrates, burst in flames and goes down immeadetly. Ingame they’re now tanking airfield and ground forces AA. They burn and burn for minutes without any impact. They keep flying and fighting.
yet with fighters they just get bonked by one flak shell and then die.
keep the current durability, but rework the damage of the bullets to better fit the new models
This explains so much. It was never JUST the hugely increased module health. It’s the fact that the plane’s skin now provides the protection of what, like 3x thicker armor steel?

And the windows provide huge protection too.
