Change the BR of the Maus

False.

It was a counterpart for Tiger II 105

The Is-3 at worst is 7.0 material with the Is-4 being 7.3.

The Is-3 has smaller weak spots already than anything else would have at 6.7, plus has better angled protection. The only weakness the IS-3 has is the quite terrible 20mm lower side hull plates. I’d also say the Is-3 is a fairly decent counterpart to the American T32 at 7.3 as it is. The T32 is also another tank with lackluster pen but great armor.

No, not really. Or at least only now while APCR continues to artificially suck. The moment that round gets the overdue reubuffs it deserves the T32 becomes miles better.

No, they really aren’t that good. Not with the overabundance of artillery that allow anyone with a bit of patience to obliterate both. Not with the overabundance of HEATFS and APDS that also obliterate both.

My proposed BRs are assuming all currently-terrible ammo classes get the rebuffs they deserve.

U said it a 7.0, a 0.3 difference wont cause a problem since it will get Uptiered to maus, or maus getting downtiered for it.

U saying it like maus is a unkillable, Maus basically is a bomb magnet, AND a light vehicles easy target espically with ones that have Recoilless rifles, or HEAT shells, such as M50 Ontos or japanese “Type”.

Also no need to Uptier or downtier IS3 or IS4, your Reason make no sense, and not valid since maus will eventually meet them as the same BR Uptier or downtier bracket.

I personally dont have the maus, but that thing is horrible, i got it, it have awesome firepower, and armor.
But It wont matter if u cant get ur ass out of there, before you be a museum for the enemy.

I saw alot of players who literally either died from CAS, or got Out moved, which is valid for vehicles for its BR bracked BUT not valid for the Maus performance.

Yup, people vastly overestimate what it is even capable of doing. Sure it would be a tough nut to crack with standard tank cannons, but any correctly-modeled bomb or moderately-large rocket or 150mm+ sized artillery shell would annihilate the damn thing.

Hell, I frankly think that if all ammunition types which are neutered for claimed “balance” reasons got restored to their real penetration and potency, we wouldn’t even need most HEATFS or APDS to kill a Maus.

Just look at American 76-120mm guns in WWII alone:

  • 76mm M93: penetrated as much as 250mm of flat plate. With realistic heavy spalling from APCR, one or two of these to the turret face annihilates the thing at close ranges.
  • 90mm M304: penetrated 320mm of flat plate. With the same heavy spalling, vehicles like the T25, M26, T26E5, and M36 all become able to kill a Maus pretty easily the moment it tries looking at them.
  • 90mm T44: long 90 APCR was powerful enough to go clean through a test Jagdpanzer IV and still possess enough energy to go so deep into the hillside behind it that the penetrator was never found. The real round penetrated 373mm and would spall very well.
  • 90mm M332 and M332A1: Even better rounds penetrating 390mm and 425mm, these would be total overkill vs any WW2 tank, even superheavies.
  • 105mm T29E3 and T29E4: Similar story with 381mm pen on the former, and the latter doesn’t even exist in the game yet but obtained as much as 450mm pen.
  • 120mm T17E1: This round penetrated as much as 453mm.
  • 155mm T35E1: a missing APCR round for the T30’s gun (and therefore also the Long Tom when Gaijin eventually adds that thing), this penned 320mm but due to being much larger than 90mm M304 would produce A LOT MORE SPALL.

Britain’s penetration numbers on the 17-pdr, 20-pdr, and L1A2 are already correct - it’s just a “shell shattered” and lack of postpen problem on their part.

Russia would handle superheavy spam like the Maus using mainly their artillery pieces.

The French have both armor to shrug off superheavy shells and punch through them right back, plus artillery.

The issue here is, that there is likely to never be a time where APCR actually works in game properly. You’re basing things on a huge hypothetical, given Gaijin’s own track record regarding not just APCR, but as of more recently, the APDS nerf. The Conqueror and Conway both ate the brunt of that nerf.

You can’t do what was described and move the Maus to 7.0 without moving the IS-3 and 4 as well.

The Maus, just like the T95 and Tortoise, should not be used on maps that overly require you to actually drive to a shooting location. Just like you should not spawn it on an open field map because it lacks no solid cover. Plus Gaijin has nerfed bombs fairly significantly recently, making it more and more necessary to direct impact your target.

The L1A2’s are overperforming pen wise by roughly 40-50mm at best if we go by historical records.

They will met up eventually.

It depends on the player skill to use the vehicle.
also it does not mean they “nerfed” the bombs mean they do no damage, They still perform Ok, No sometime no need for direct impact, bombs destruction and fragmentation radius totally dependent on the explosive mass and TNT equivalency of the explosive filler, Maus is just a practice target at open field, at close quarter? its just a lazy cat… with a half broken transmission.

( rare pic of maus facing light vehicles )

If the gas-electric transmission functioned like it did in real life, it would increase the maneuverability by a decent margin. No longer would small turns slow you to a crawl, plus turning altogether would be more responsive. That goes for so many tanks in this game though, especially the modern ones with regenerative steering

not for the maus, this thing transmission would go kaput every 14 Kilometers.

That’s all we need for one battle, given that you would need a flat map to even drive half that distance in one match with the Maus. Plus it’s just another German transmission that was not reliable for the time. If it was reliable, that would make it the outlier.

Oh indeed, why am I not surprised they capitulate to certain detestable elements of the playerbase yet again.

Bombs were already hilariously underperforming compared to how far away they could really kill something as-is.

I more so focus on the philosophy underlying the pattern - the very same folk who cried endlessly for CAS nerfs in years past keep demanding more. So why keep listening to them instead of making their absurd demands into their own liability so that the more they keep screaming the less relevant they make themselves?

A “Make Their Whining Their Own Damn Fault” approach. How I’d do it is essentially massively rebuff SPAAGs and SAMs both in anti-air and anti-ground abilities, alongside using a Sim-style SP system, no kill cam, and forced engine-off runway starts on all CAS with no separated helicopter pads (they spawn with the planes).

Then the counters to CAS are universally available to all people who want to swat down the CAS they claim to hate.

But if you choose not to, you have no excuse if your heavy eats a bomb and gets blown up because of it.

Sure, And I dont Have maus.

Tiny Tim rockets are a really good option to nuke a Maus. Even hitting the drivers area from top down is enough to kill all crew members. Plus you can find Tiny Tims on planes as low as 3.3 with the British hellcat mk.2 which carries 3.

Exactly.

FYI I am not referring to you specifically - I am referring in that statement to the folk who irrationally look at all planes as “overpowered” regardless of situation “because muh tonk cannot aim barrel 90 degrees up to 1v1 plane at all times, so give me tank-only mode!” THOSE types of people are what I was referring to.

I want to see all arguments for that half-baked “enraged shitpost” of a mode idea utterly decapitated. And the way I figured out how it could be done is “buff the counters and make them intentionally easy to use to the point where you have to be clinically insane NOT to shut up and go use them.” Essentially, attacking the source of the entire debate - the folk who refuse to accept that CAS is a part of the game and isn’t going anywhere.

Then, CAS can be restoratively buffed and its detractors cannot do jack in response. Because the counters to CAS would be guaranteed-available and still very much work. The detractors will be backed into the following corners:

  1. Adapt by learning to use the easily-accessible counters and shut up about CAS.
  2. Accept their preferences of “being a tank-only player” make them into second-class citizens by choice, abandoning the victim mentality driving the CAS debate, and therefore shutting the hell up.
  3. Try to keep whining about how powerful CAS is and get flamed down by everyone else who does adapt and says “dude why are you complaining, the counters are easy to use, shut the hell up!” exactly like History Channel Tiger Drivers were years ago (and still are memed about today).
  4. Abandon WT entirely for one of numerous games popping up that are built to be just for tanks from their inception.

How does this relate to the Maus, you may ask? Undoing CAS nerfs will cause Maus and other superheavy stats to plummet, enabling them to fall to BRs where their armor actually works better.

But also more importantly, I recognize that in the broad context of the game as a whole, the game needs to just peel away all their many layers of idiotic artificial “balans” nerfing, because when every weapon class actually works as it is supposed to, the BR system will sort it all out so long as maps and objectives allow it to do so.

“The truth will set War Thunder free,” essentially.

Oh indeed that thing is nasty. Now imagine how lethal those would be with their real blast radius, which was much bigger than the game portrays.

And the Wyvern’s Red Angels would be even nastier still. Then of course we’re still missing the 14-inch Big Richard rocket America developed.

I agree brother.

except the maus is literally immune to 90% of convential guns at 6.7 due to its armor buff of the cheek being now 230mm so literally no way to pen it without doing a shot trap

so it wont go down ever

literally only way to pen is with heat or like a something with more than 230MM of pen and good luck at range the best 6.7 the TIGER II only has 237mm T26E-1 has 226MM basically nothing that russia has can pen it even the IS4M same br cant the americans have like 2 tanks that can pen it that use a conventional round even most 7.7 heavys cant pen it T32E1 cant neither can IS3

And its not immune to bombs. Nor would it be immune to all the various derp SPHs flooding into the game recently (of which there are still many left to add for all nations).

Furthermore, if you undo the idiotic nerfing of APCR and APDS, you literally would not need anything else to kill it with. And I mean both the nerfs to its penetration and post-penetration damage.

76mm M93 APCR should pen as much as 250mm point blank. 90mm M304 APCR should pen as much as 320mm point blank. 90mm T44 (long 90) should pen 373mm point blank. 17-pdr APDS and 20-pdr APDS pen what they should but should do much more postpen.

Add in the SPHs everyone gets, you literally wouldn’t need much else. Anything else would be overkill.

So yes it will drop down quite massively when you model everything realistically. It’s historical opponents would be able to handle it within reason, and if they get too frustrated any 1000lb bomb would easily mop the floor with it.

high IQ take re read what i said i Said conventional munitions like APHE which the most common round of this BR i literally never mentioned cas

then you have to rebalnace every tank as there many things for example the CENT MK3 which has APDS and FULL STAB that would have to get moved up in br you would need to rework like every british tank from like 5.0 to 7.7

this would make many tanks need massive reworks which gaijin will not do

the maus was removed for a reason its impossible to balance

and buffing cas would hurt literally every other tank which is not a option aswell as theres already very wide selection of OP cas planes
