Challenger 3 MBT - Technical Data and Discussion

It looks like it’ll align with the UFP add-on when both are mounted?

The transverse mounting of the engine is standard. page 18 has an image of the power pack https://www.mtu-solutions.com/content/dam/mtu/download/applications/defense/16120014_LandDefense_brochure.pdf/_jcr_content/renditions/original./16120014_LandDefense_brochure.pdf

No an updated TN54E

Nah somebody just phone Grant Shapps and beg him for the euro power pack. All Cr2’s should have been upgraded to the 2E, and then we should have just made Cr3 weigh less.

Actually you know what, we should of just got a new line of Cr2 hulls with the euro power pack, and just integrated the 120 smoothbore into the Cr2, then either convert the old hulls into recovery vehicles/engineering vehicles or just have the old Cr2 be infantry support only, since they are about as slow as a churchill

Redesigned with a better armour scheme.

With all the money wasted on Ajax issue’s you probably could’ve done that.

I’ll have you know that money went to the greatest cause of all, lining the pockets of the general who chose general dynamics, then joined them as a “non-executive” executive.

unless they changed anything it was confirmed the cr3 would use cv12-9a

That would contradict the statement of army people that said it has a upgraded powerpack, while standing next to Proto 2.
That would also kill the need for existence of 9A, as it would be a glorified 6A.

You can upgrade a power pack / engine without increasing the power output (upgraded could mean better reliability, etc.).

They said “it will give more speed an agility while driving around” . I know it might be from the gearbox, but considering it is heavier in base version, and probably will be even heavier than 2H/2I with full armour package i doubt they meant transmission only

Also that guy pulled a Caterpillar on a Perkins engine, so it is either something we dont know or a information with 0 credibility.

He’s not wrong, Caterpillar acquired Perkins

In January 1998, Caterpillar Inc. acquired the assets of Perkins Limited, the diesel engine subsidiary of LucasVarity plc. With the acquisition of Perkins Engines, Caterpillar became the world leader in the manufacture of off-highway diesel engines.

Also, ‘that guy’ is current Minister of State for Defence Procurement.

I did not knew that, i guess they decided to take CV up to their name then.

Welp, i also did not knew that, then i guess they figured out a way to make a heavier tank more mobile with transmission then, or they are lying on their YT channel

he just confirmed the cv12-9a that the manufacturer specs indicate can reach 1500hp at 2400rpms.

The CV-9A can in theory achieve 1,500 hp by itself. But it apparently cannot do that as part of the Challenger power pack because it would overwhelm the cooling system.
