Europower pack wouldn’t require major hull modification they could’ve done that
the issue with the engine is that the reduction in size is very significant, which means the engine would wobble around the tank and even if you just put something like holders, also that would make the usage of space inefficient when you could put more fuel tanks or in the case of britain, 2 XL tea kettles!, but, apart from jokes, even the leopard whose engine compartment is smaller required a heavy modification.
Challenger 2E didn’t require much changes to the hull and the work has already been done the reason why it is used is due to cost
He literally just said “the enhanced power pack that gives more speed and agility when you’re driving around”. Sounds like an engine upgrade to me
The engine was upgraded
Poor choice of words. But yeah probably an increase in HP and torque, considering the weight increase
Just not to 1500 i think
It should be 1320 i think but im not certain
The cooling was definitely upgraded
Aye, would be very easy to squeeze some more HP out of that engine. Plus iirc isn’t CR3 getting a new transmission? Probably helps too
when they refered to the installation of the engine on certain hulls they did mention as a major modifcation of the hull to add the engine(this one isnt about the challenger just to clarify), but it is also coupled with a new transmission so that probably helps too
yeah its hard to find some info on it, since back in 2021 there was an engine that was suposedly the one being used in the challenger 3 prototype with the same horsepower but better reliability and in other instances later at 2023 they stated the change to a new more powerful engine but didnt say anything about the stats of this new engine
The traverse mounted it which allowed for minimal changes
I’ve seen what would be required to fit the Leopard 2 power pack and that would require changes
Almost everything I see is that it’s getting an uprated engine of some kind. It wouldn’t make sense not too as automotive tech has come a long way since the 80s and 90s
i mean one of the heavy critiques during the presentation of the challenger 3 in 2023 was the lack of a new hull since having no armor on the lower plate was a heavy no from a lot of people, but its understandable since the UK has to deal with a very limited budget and the challenger 3 just enters this pretty limited budget, also made me remember yall should be getting DM63 with it if they ever introduce it
Yeah main issue is the hull and they aint new hulls either
I bet we will get BAE to start up the factory’s in Sweden in a few years
right now, the UK budget regarding that is a bit scarce, so i doubt we will see anything soon as of rn, i remember seeing somewhere something about possible composite addition in the lower hull to solve that issue in the meantime tho
ah yeah this thing, looks weird but should work
Well it is only a model we will see
Can’t wait to see a model with all armour kits applied, so far we’ve only see models with the LP kit, or with the turret and UFP plates
And don’t forget Trophy
