Challenger 3 MBT - Technical Data and Discussion

Yh that’s what I thought when it was originally announced but in the last few months I was reading different from so many “defence experts” and it put me off.

Yes, as far as i know this is how it is.

FARNHAM = Internal Armour
EPSOM = External Armour

So do we know if EPSOM is passive or non-energetic reactive armour? Since we don’t like ERA.

As far as I’m aware, DM83 (the new British/German round developed for the gun) is just as important to this vehicle as the vehicle upgrade itself, so if it gets added I do hope DM83 comes with it seeming as its one of the main talking points and core components of the upgrade. (seemingly)

Is it Depleted Uranium?

DM53 you say?

It’s described as “Modular Armour” we don’t know if its ERA or composite for sure yet,

The Challenger 2 featured ERA, so its not unreasonable to assume its also ERA, but we should just wait for more info

“62KK17” is the fifth Challenger 3, but it seems I had forgotten that it was photographed in November.

No, its tungsten, but it will still far outperform L27A1

I also heard whispers that it is designed with defeating RELIKT in mind, which is basically heresy in Gaijns eyes.

L27A1 already had anti-ERA capabilites, so did shells as early as DM53, so I’d imagine that it will be design to combat modern ERA

DM83 isn’t even in trials or even on the website yet right? Do we know when it will announced or enter trials?

not to mention a certain tech mod thinks angle of impact onto ERA doesnt matter

the thing I heard, said SPECIFICALLY RELIKT, so I’m not entirely sure.

DM83 qualification rounds were already supplied in 2024

Only asking because the MOD state they only have/use DM53, 63 and 88 as of October 25.

To my knowledge we only use DM63A1 at the moment, but thats because DM83 is still under development i guess

Even DM63A1 still outperforms L27A1 though

I’m just concerned that it’s tungsten and not DU. I know tungsten is better for manufacturing, storing and politics.

I also wonder if this system is only for the driver periscope or integrated into the gunners sight and other periscope’s too, or if everyone else has basic thermals. THIS would be really interesting to see in the game in some way.
