To be fair it does say DM53A1 is not in service
nothing stopping Gaijin adding C3 early and saying “its based on one in trials” much like ajax very much is, and giving it DM53 due to it being a trails round for a trials tank.
would that be a stupid idea? yes.
would I put it past them? absolutely not.
DM53A1 and DM53 are different rounds, they’ll give it DM53 anyway though lol
DM53A1 has IM (insensitive) propellant, so ingame it wouldn’t explode when hit, which would likely be too strong in their opinion
Basically all of the “DM” series of rounds after the base DM53 rounds are IM, which is probably why they haven’t been added
Well yeah, its mainly still a german round.
We are already testing it/ qualifing it.
Its out of the main development phase.
But to early to give it outside.
Likely to be shown of during the eurosatory most likely
That just proves the likely threats of the Russian Federation and China. Tanks do not require a larger calibre gun to defeat.
And that CR3 with DM73? can destroy any tank it is likely to encounter from acceptable ranges.
If Relikt was as modelled in game there would be a rush to transition to 130 and 140mm guns.
I wouldnt be surpised if DM73 can penetrate Relikt from 4 - 5km away.
Mate it’s British it will likely explode while the blow out panels do nothing
in war thunder ? unlikely, in reality? oh yeah.
It starts with the fact that from the DM53 onwards the density of our rounds should be at 18.5g/cc

Of course cant be used since rheinmetall doesnt specialy state DM53, like rheinmetall makes other apfsds rounds
its sad DM83 likely will hugely underperform.
with only the formular being used gajin cant add the technical modifications being added.
And will only take density and so on into consideration
I see that at the time I thought more of a staying up to date with the standard NATO calibre rather than can it kill a Terminator from across Europe with a good round
@luque13
Well depends, the 130mm just might not series developed enough.
Besides that UK might not want to be the first to jump into the water cause of logistics etc.
Going from rifle barred to 130mm doesnt do the logistixs any good.
Germany can allow themself the buffer with the 2a8.
Thats why we already have a 130mm tank ordered to be in development now
I’m just saying keeping up with 130/140mm logistics, maybe after it becomes properly mainstream… oh wait, humans would have gone extinct by then… how unfortunate.
it just finsihed the second set of its trials
I think the meaning is quite clear
Likely just testing the weight
No point armouring something thats not meant to go to battle yet
It could have a few meanings mate
It mean’s its just a “dummy” block for testing purposes, they put those on them so you don’t accidentally go to war with a bunch of fake armour blocks. Luckily for us in War Thunder it will probably provide 5mm KE regardless of being real or fake so it doesn’t matter we can use either.
The fact they have dummy blocks does make he think it may be ERA, as otherwise if its just NERA why not just use a real one, the main issue with ERA would be that it’s explosive.
So if someone drops one when they’re practising installing and uninstalling them, there’s no risk it’s going to compromise the armour.
There are drill/ballast versions of the old Dorchester NERA blocks for peacetime training as well. They had a triangle in the middle of them that carried the same warning that they were not armour.
I hope not considering relikt is already 1 or 2 generations old
So if anything this would actually prove they are (intended to be) armour, in case anyone had any doubts?
